Every New Recipe in WoW Forever and What It Costs
All 835 new item recipes in the WoW Forever beta client, counted by profession, with reagent bills priced from beta scans, the reagents they lean on and the new camp objects.
The short answer
Blizzard's launch notes say professions in WoW Forever gain more than 600 new recipes. Our count from the beta client is higher: 835 new abilities that create an item, across thirteen skill lines, and every one of them makes an item that no older recipe makes. Leatherworking gained the most with 239, then Blacksmithing with 177 and Tailoring with 164. Most of the new recipes are rare quality gear built on a few shared reagents, and two of those reagents come from other crafters:
Cerulean Dye, which sold for 1 gold63 silver on the latest player scans, and
Pristine Leather, which sold for 52 silver. If you only remember one thing from this page, remember that the new recipes run on dye, Pristine Leather and thread.
Lowest buyout from player scans of the WoW Forever beta Auction House, as of beta build 70291. Beta prices are a testing economy and will not carry over to launch. Last verified
The count, profession by profession
A recipe counts as new when the client flags its spell as new in Forever and it creates an item. We also counted new abilities that do not create anything, such as trainer ranks and camp skills, separately.
| Profession | New abilities | New item recipes | Common | Uncommon | Rare | Epic | Bills we can fully price | Median bill |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Leatherworking | 275 | 239 | 5 | 76 | 139 | 19 | 154 | 1 gold33 silver |
| Blacksmithing | 201 | 177 | 4 | 58 | 104 | 11 | 112 | 1 gold34 silver |
| Tailoring | 184 | 164 | 13 | 35 | 110 | 6 | 120 | 5 gold11 silver |
| Engineering | 82 | 75 | 44 | 25 | 3 | 3 | 34 | 41 silver67 copper |
| Alchemy | 76 | 70 | 61 | 9 | 0 | 0 | 46 | 19 silver20 copper |
| Cooking | 48 | 42 | 42 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 33 | 6 silver79 copper |
| Enchanting | 67 | 36 | 5 | 4 | 21 | 6 | 21 | 2 gold48 silver |
| First Aid | 21 | 17 | 17 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 10 | 3 silver99 copper |
| Mining | 10 | 5 | 3 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 15 silver9 copper |
| Herbalism | 9 | 3 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 1 gold50 silver |
| Skinning | 8 | 3 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 3 | 7 silver40 copper |
| Fishing | 9 | 3 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 5 silver |
| Comprehension | 7 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 6 copper |
| Total | 997 | 835 | 540 |
Three things stand out. First, the three armour crafts hold 580 of the 835, almost 70%. Second, 422 of the new recipes make rare or epic items (377 rare, 45 epic), which Classic crafting at low levels almost never did. Third, we can fully price the reagent bill for 540 of them from beta scans; the rest use high-level materials that nobody at the beta cap of 20 to 30 had listed.
The reagents the new recipes depend on
We counted every reagent across all 997 new abilities (the Riding line adds three more new passives that use no reagents, which is why the client total is 1,000). These are the most used, with the number of new recipes that need each and the units if each recipe were made once:
| Reagent | New recipes using it | Units | Latest beta scan | Who makes it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rune Thread | 135 | 630 | 70 silver | vendor |
| Cerulean Dye (new) | 129 | 430 | 1 gold63 silver | Alchemy |
| Pristine Leather (new) | 125 | 478 | 52 silver | world drop or gather, no recipe |
| Malleable Essence of Nature (new) | 97 | 302 | not listed | disenchanting Hyjal Summit or Barrow Deeps items, per its item text |
| Heavy Silken Thread | 89 | 250 | 35 silver | vendor |
| Fine Thread | 84 | 234 | 1 silver18 copper | vendor |
| Rugged Leather | 73 | 757 | not priced reliably | Skinning |
| Bolt of Runecloth | 66 | 605 | 20 silver | Tailoring |
| Magenta Dye (new) | 63 | 295 | 1 gold25 silver | Alchemy |
| Light Leather | 59 | 542 | 40 copper | Skinning |
| Heavy Leather | 54 | 445 | 8 silver | Skinning |
| Fel Leather (new) | 52 | 990 | not listed | unknown |
| Cured Rugged Hide | 52 | 133 | not listed | Leatherworking (Rugged Hide and Refined Deeprock Salt) |
| Thorium Bar | 50 | 917 | not listed | Mining |
| Bolt of Silk Cloth | 49 | 421 | 14 silver95 copper | Tailoring |
| Bronze Bar | 46 | 516 | 2 silver69 copper | Mining |
Fel Leather and Cured Rugged Hide tie at 52, so the table shows sixteen rows. Fel Leather's 52 includes 32 abilities whose product our extract does not name. Four of the top sixteen are items that did not exist before Forever. Cerulean Dye appears in 129 new recipes and Magenta Dye in 63, which makes Alchemy a supplier to a large share of the new content in other trades. Pristine Leather is in 125 new recipes across Leatherworking, Blacksmithing and Tailoring, and nothing in the client crafts it. Malleable Essence of Nature, whose item text says it is acquired by disenchanting items from Hyjal Summit or Barrow Deeps, gates 97 late recipes. Fel Leather is the biggest single bill: 990 units across 52 recipes.
Our own measure: 377 of the 835 new item recipes use at least one reagent whose item id is above 240,000, the range where the Forever additions sit in the client. So almost half of the new recipes cannot be made from Classic materials alone.
What a new recipe costs, from cheapest to dearest
The cheapest fully priced new recipe on the beta was Comprehension's Study at 6 copper (one Light Feather into a Bundle of Scrolls), followed by Alchemy's Elixir of Minor Force at 29 copper and Cooking's Breakfast Omelette at 38 copper. The most expensive were all Tailoring: Radiant Sandals at 218 gold77 silver, Radiant Cord at 200 gold99 silver and Radiant Waistcord at 184 gold74 silver. Those Radiant pieces take Large Radiant Shards, which were thin and expensive on the beta, so their bills will fall when the level cap opens.
The median bills in the profession table tell you more. A typical new Tailoring recipe cost about four times a typical new Blacksmithing or Leatherworking recipe, almost all of it in Cerulean Dye and Magenta Dye. A typical new Alchemy or Cooking recipe cost a few silver at most.
Profession highlights
Each profession has its own page with the full analysis. In one line each:
- Leatherworking (239 new): six-flavour rare sets from 80 to 290, leather and mail from the same bill in the Mender's and Skycaller's lines, and Forceful and Mystic armor kits that beat their bill on the beta. Leatherworking for gold.
- Blacksmithing (177 new): Skyforged mail, five-flavour chain families, Sterling Silver and Hard Gold sets, and three new bars at the top. Blacksmithing for gold.
- Tailoring (164 new): six-flavour robes and gowns, Stormsewn cloth, seven Reagent Bags. Tailoring for gold.
- Engineering (75 new): the SAF-T and EZ-Thro lines, Sandpaper for blacksmiths, a Repair Bot. Engineering for gold.
- Alchemy (70 new): three dyes and an acid, Mender's, Spirit and Mageblood lines, four new flasks. Alchemy for gold.
- Cooking (42 new): teas and smoothies, campfires, and most food now carries a kill experience bonus. Cooking and XP Food.
- Enchanting (36 new): relics, staves and wands, most of them Bind on Pickup. Enchanting for gold.
- First Aid (17 new): all six Healing Potions, poultices and tourniquets. First Aid in WoW Forever.
- Mining, Herbalism, Skinning and Fishing (14 new between them): three camp objects each, plus Smelt Azerothium, Smelt Heavy Thorium and Lodestone for miners. Fishing for gold.
Camp objects: 39 new recipes across every profession
Every profession in the client has a camp line, almost always three tiers at skill 20 to 25, 140 to 145 and 300. Cooking has five because it also makes the campfires. Blizzard's notes say a Basic Campfire holds up to three crafted objects, one per player, on a one-hour cooldown; the client's campfire spell agrees.
| Profession | Tier 1 (20 to 25) | Tier 2 (140 to 145) | Tier 3 (300) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alchemy | Mana Well | Fermenter | Alchemy Laboratory |
| Blacksmithing | Sharpening Wheel | Anvil | Master Forge |
| Enchanting | Enchanted Lute | Arcane Salvager | Arcane Forge |
| Engineering | Reagent Bot | Repair Bot | Anarchist's Workbench |
| Leatherworking | Camp Tent | Tanning Rack | Sewing Machine |
| Tailoring | Faction Banner (Horde and Alliance) | Spinning Wheel | Loom |
| Mining | Lodestone | Rock Garden | Molten Foundry |
| Herbalism | Incense Candle | Greenhouse | Seed Hybridizer |
| Skinning | Camp Chair | Field Guide | Trapper's Workbench |
| Fishing | Fish Bowl | Fishing Rack | Fishing Hut |
| First Aid | First Aid Kit | Toxin Study | Plague Doctor's Laboratory |
| Cooking | Basic Campfire (1 to 5) | Journeyman Campfire, Cookie's Feast | Expert Campfire (200), Iron Oven |
The tier 2 objects are where the gameplay is. The Rock Garden "spawns a common mining node over time", the Greenhouse "will grow herbs over time from seeds planted", the Fishing Rack lets you catch uncommon fish for a time, the Arcane Salvager "enables more efficient disenchanting" and the Repair Bot repairs gear. The tier 3 objects mostly say "usable for recipes that require it" and each needs a special reagent we have not found a source for yet: Lich's Index Finger, Golem Heart, Maker's Spark, Essence of Anarchy, Undeath Engine and Bottled Screams.

New skills that are not recipes
Not every new ability makes an item. The client also adds camp skills for the gatherers (Gardening for Herbalism, Tanning for Skinning, Bait and Tackle for Fishing, each "allows the [profession] to add features to a wilderness camp"), a Galestrider Riding passive in the Riding line, and a whole new skill line called Comprehension. Comprehension has Comprehend Scroll at five skill bands ("Decipher an untranslated scroll"), Research ("Research the magical arts with the help of a library") and Study, which turns a Light Feather into a Bundle of Scrolls. We do not know yet what deciphered scrolls give you, so there is no gold verdict on Comprehension.
How to use this list
- Pick a profession from the table by where its new recipes sit. The armour crafts have the most new content; Alchemy has the cheapest.
- Check its reagent dependencies. If your new recipes need Cerulean Dye or Pristine Leather, line up a supplier before launch.
- Read the binding before you craft to sell. Most new Enchanting items are Bind on Pickup.
- Expect no reference prices. Of the 835 new products, only a small share had a single scan on the beta. The first sellers at launch set the market.
- Watch the four new reagents in the table above. They are the bottlenecks.

- Level
- 5 or higher to train a primary profession
- Profession
- any; the new recipes are spread across all of them
- Skill cap
- 300 (Artisan, per the client)
- Group
- Solo

How this guide was written
Prices on this page are read live from TheWoWDB Auction House tables when the page loads. Item names, icons, zones and art come from our own datamine of the game client. We do not publish gold-per-hour numbers for any route nobody has walked and timed, so where a rate would go this page says so. WoW Forever is in beta: every fact here is labelled with the client build it was read from and can change before launch. Read the full method or the about page.
