Blacksmithing for Gold in WoW Forever: The New Skyforged and Belt Recipes
WoW Forever Blacksmithing read from the beta client: 177 new recipes, the Skyforged sets, the rare chain families, bar demand by metal, and what sold on beta scans.
The short answer
Blacksmithing is the profession Forever changed the most by volume. Our extract of the beta client lists 519 Blacksmithing abilities, 419 of which make an item, and 177 of those are new. More than half of the new ones, 104 recipes, make rare quality gear: five-flavour families of chain belts, shirts, leggings, helms, gloves and boots that Classic never had. For gold, the profession sells two things: finished pieces that nobody has priced yet, and a huge appetite for bars that miners will feed. On the latest player scans
Bronze Bar sold for 2 silver69 copper,
Copper Bar for 46 copper and
Iron Bar for 5 silver89 copper. A Blacksmith who levels on their own ore keeps that bar margin; one who buys every bar is paying it to a miner.
Lowest buyout from player scans of the WoW Forever beta Auction House, as of beta build 70291. Beta prices are a testing economy and will not carry over to launch. Last verified
What is new in the Forever Blacksmithing book
The 177 new recipes fall into clear families. We grouped them by name from the extract:
| Family | New recipes | Client skill band | Main reagents |
|---|---|---|---|
| Azure and Cloudy Skyforged chain | 16 | 55 to 70, then 185 | 5 to 8 Copper Bar; Helm and Pauldrons take Iron Bar |
| Acolyte's, Crusader's, Guard's, Protector's, Veteran's chain (belt, shirt, leggings, helm, gloves, boots) | 30 | 85 to 145 | Copper or Bronze Bar, stone, plus one flavour reagent |
| Silvered Chain helms, shirts and leggings (same five names) | 15 | 125 to 185 | 15 to 20 Bronze Bar, Silver Bar, Pristine Leather |
| Sterling Silver set | 5 | 130 to 185 | 6 to 12 Silver Bar plus 2 to 4 Copper Bar |
| Hard Gold set | 6 | 170 to 200 | Gold Bar, Steel Bar |
| Justicar's, Officer's, Prefect's, Sentinel's, Warder's sets | 30 | 155 to 270 | Iron, Steel, Mithril then Thorium; Sandpaper |
| Shining Mithril set | 6 | 215 to 240 | Mithril and Truesilver Bar |
| Blessed Plate set | 7 | 260 to 300 | Thorium Bar, Blue Sapphire |
| Heavy Thorium, Legionite and Azerothium gear | 24 | 270 to 320 | the three new bars, Malleable Essence of Nature |
| Hammers, camp objects, misc | 38 | all levels | see below |
The five-flavour design is the thing to understand. Each family has one recipe per flavour, and the flavour is a single extra reagent: Strange Dust for Acolyte's, Lesser Magic Essence for Crusader's, Shadowgem for Guard's, Tigerseye for Protector's and Small Lustrous Pearl for Veteran's. Acolyte's Chain Belt and Veteran's Chain Belt cost almost the same in bars; the flavour reagent decides the bill and, presumably, the stats. The later sets do the same with Globe of Water, Jade, Golden Pearl, Purple Lotus and Black Pearl.
The bar demand table
This is the number to plan around. We summed every bar and finishing reagent across all 419 Blacksmithing crafts, and again across only the 177 new ones. "Units" means what one character would use making each recipe exactly once.
| Reagent | Recipes (all) | Units (all) | Recipes (new) | Units (new) | Latest beta scan |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Copper Bar | 51 | 370 | 28 | 172 | 46 copper |
| Bronze Bar | 68 | 703 | 44 | 512 | 2 silver69 copper |
| Silver Bar | 33 | 151 | 22 | 119 | 9 silver |
| Iron Bar | 33 | 312 | 11 | 114 | 5 silver89 copper |
| Mithril Bar | 52 | 686 | 18 | 227 | 12 silver18 copper |
| Thorium Bar | 95 | 2,151 | 42 | 887 | not listed yet |
| Heavy Thorium Bar | 17 | 240 | 17 | 240 | not listed yet |
| Legionite Bar | 17 | 124 | 17 | 124 | not listed yet |
| Azerothium Bar | 10 | 80 | 10 | 80 | not listed yet |
| Sulfuric Acid | 30 | 110 | 30 | 110 | 4 silver90 copper |
| Sandpaper | 25 | 130 | 25 | 130 | 15 silver |
| Pristine Leather | 30 | 130 | 30 | 130 | 52 silver |
Two lines stand out. Bronze Bar demand from new recipes alone is 512 bars, far more than the 172 Copper Bars the new recipes ask for directly. The rare chain families are the reason: shirts take 4 Bronze, leggings 6, gloves 10, boots 12, Silvered Chain shirts and leggings 20 each. And Thorium is the giant at the top: 2,151 units across the whole book. The beta cap of 20 to 30 does not reach Thorium, so that is a launch-month market.
The bronze arithmetic
Smelt Bronze turns one Copper Bar and one
Tin Bar into two Bronze Bars. On 2026-10-08 our tables read a Copper Bar at 70 copper and a Tin Bar at 4 silver36 copper, so two Bronze Bars cost 5 silver6 copper in bars, or 2 silver53 copper each. Bronze sold at 3 silver. That is a small but real smelting margin, and it compounds: the 512 Bronze Bars the new recipes ask for would cost 12 gold95 silver to smelt yourself against 15 gold36 silver to buy at the scanned price.
Tin is the scarcer half. The beta had more than twice as many Tin Ore listed as Tin Bars, and the ore sold at 3 silver against 3 silver19 copper for the bar, so smelting tin was close to break even. If you mine, the rule is simple:
- Smelt copper only when the bar beats the ore. On the beta the ore was worth more.
- Smelt tin when the bar is more than the ore plus the AH cut.
- Combine into bronze yourself whenever you are levelling a Blacksmith. Bronze is the bottleneck metal from skill 85 to 185.
- Sell surplus bronze in stacks during launch week, when every new Blacksmith hits the chain families at once.
What sold above its bill on the beta
106 Blacksmithing crafts had a product price and a full reagent bill on the scans; 71 of those had the product on both scanned houses, and 34 of those sold above their bill. The best gaps:
| Recipe | Client skill band | Reagent bill | Product sold at | Listed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Searing Golden Blade | 190 to 215 | 2 gold9 silver | 5 gold56 silver | 2 units |
| Bronze Dory (new) | 125 to 155 | 29 silver60 copper | 1 gold99 silver | 40 units |
| Iridescent Hammer | 145 to 175 | 2 gold50 silver | 3 gold99 silver | 4 units |
| Mithril Shield Spike | 210 to 230 | 2 gold90 silver | 3 gold99 silver | 11 units |
| Jade Serpentblade | 175 to 200 | 1 gold67 silver | 2 gold75 silver | 7 units |
| Green Iron Helm | 170 to 195 | 1 gold30 silver | 2 gold11 silver | 12 units |
| Truesilver Rod | 180 to 185 | 25 silver39 copper | 80 silver | 32 units |
Bronze Dory is the one to note. It is new, it takes eight Bronze Bars, four Weak Flux and a Medium Leather, and on the beta it sold for nearly seven times its bill with forty on the market. That depth means real buyers, not a single lucky listing. Searing Golden Blade had the bigger gap, but two units listed is a thin market and a single sale moves it.
The Sterling Silver set is a quieter win.
Sterling Silver Breastplate sold at 5 gold10 silver against a 2 gold6 silver bill, and Sterling Silver Leggings at 4 gold against 1 gold75 silver, though each was listed on only one house. Sterling Silver Boots and Shoulders sold a little above their bills on both houses.
New reagents a Blacksmith now depends on
Forever makes Blacksmiths buy from other professions more than Classic did:
Sulfuric Acid: made by alchemists from Pyrite. 30 Blacksmithing recipes use it: the five flavours of the new chain gloves (two acid each), then every Justicar's to Warder's gauntlet, pauldron, sabaton, waistguard and wristguard, which take two to six. It sold at 4 silver90 copper.
Sandpaper: made by engineers from Bauxite and cloth. 25 Blacksmithing recipes use it, in the Justicar's to Warder's sets. It sold at 15 silver.
Pristine Leather: 30 new Blacksmithing recipes use it, every chain belt, boots and Silvered piece. No profession in the client crafts it, so it comes from the world. It sold at 52 silver on both houses.- Malleable Essence of Nature: the item text says it is "acquired from disenchanting items from Hyjal Summit or Barrow Deeps". Seven late Blacksmithing recipes use it, together with Legionite Bar and Heavy Thorium Bar.
- Legionite Bar: transmuted by alchemists from Heavy Thorium Bar and Fel Crystal. 17 Blacksmithing recipes use it.
The practical point: the cost of a rare chain piece depends as much on Pristine Leather as on bars. Acolyte's Boots take twelve Bronze Bars and four Pristine Leather; at beta prices the leather was most of the 3 gold1 silver bill.
Hammers and camp objects
The beta client adds three Blacksmith Hammers as recipes. The Cracked Blacksmith Hammer (skill 115 to 120, eighteen Bronze Bars) has the item text "Can't use it for smithing? Just throw it at your enemies." The Mithril and Arcanite versions both read "Serves as a Blacksmith Hammer", so higher-level smiths can craft their own tool.
The camp line is Sharpening Wheel, Anvil and Master Forge:
| Object | Client skill band | Reagents | Client text, short |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20 to 25 | Rough Stone, Copper Bar | Strength for players sitting nearby | |
| 140 to 145 | 5 Bronze Bar, 2 Coarse Stone, 2 Medium Leather | an anvil, plus Sharpening Wheel benefits | |
| 300 | Golem Heart, 5 Thorium Bar, 2 Rugged Leather | needed for recipes that require it |
The Anvil matters more than it looks: a portable anvil in your own camp means smithing away from town. On the beta it sold for 20 silver against a 31 silver60 copper bill, so make it for yourself rather than for sale. The Master Forge needs a
Golem Heart, whose item text says "This molten heart could fuel a Master Forge". We have not found its source.

How to level Blacksmithing for gold
- 1 to 55: the usual copper crafts, plus the new Copper Rod (enchanters use it) and one Sharpening Wheel. Smelt your own copper if the bar beats the ore.
- 55 to 70: the Azure and Cloudy Skyforged pieces, five to eight Copper Bars each. Sixteen recipes in this band means plenty of skill-ups without leaving copper.
- 85 to 125: one or two of the new chain belts (twelve Copper Bars each) and the chain shirts and leggings in bronze. Pick the flavour whose reagent is cheapest that day.
- 110 to 155: chain gloves (ten Bronze and two Sulfuric Acid), Bronze Dory for sale, and the first Sterling Silver pieces.
- 155 to 200: Hard Gold and the first Justicar's to Warder's belts in iron. Make Sandpaper friends.
- Past the beta cap: Mithril, Thorium and the three new bars. Watch the demand table above.

What to watch on the Auction House
- Bronze against Copper plus Tin. Bronze demand is the biggest new number in the book.
- Pristine Leather. It is the most expensive part of most rare chain recipes.
- Sulfuric Acid and Sandpaper prices, since only one other profession makes each.
- The first listings of the rare chain families. A Veteran's or Guard's piece has no reference price yet.
- Thorium Ore at launch. With 2,151 units of Thorium Bar across the book, it should be the busiest metal of the endgame.
