Enchanting for Gold in WoW Forever: Dust, Essences and Shards
WoW Forever Enchanting from the beta client: dust, essence and shard prices from player scans, enchant reagent bills, the new relics, wands and the Arcane Salvager.
The short answer
Enchanting in WoW Forever makes most of its gold the way it always has: by selling materials, not enchants. The beta client lists 270 Enchanting abilities, and only 60 of them create an item; 192 are enchant spells, 31 of them new, and the rest are Disenchant itself plus a handful of relic abilities that name no product in our extract. The new item recipes include a set of relics, staves and orbs, but the client marks almost all of the mid-level ones Bind on Pickup, so you can use them and not sell them. The money is in the mats. On the latest player scans
Strange Dust sold for 65 copper,
Dream Dust for 3 silver50 copper and
Large Radiant Shard for 11 gold99 silver. Enchanters who disenchant their own green drops and sell the results will out-earn enchanters who wait for enchant customers, at least until the level cap opens.
Lowest buyout from player scans of the WoW Forever beta Auction House, as of beta build 70291. Beta prices are a testing economy and will not carry over to launch. Last verified
The material ladder, priced
Here is every dust, essence and shard tier with the latest beta scan and how deep the market was. Depth matters as much as price: a material with ten thousand units listed is a commodity; one with fifteen is a rumour.
| Tier | Dust | Lesser essence | Greater essence | Small shard | Large shard |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Strange Dust 65 copper | Lesser Magic 90 copper | Greater Magic 1 silver77 copper | Small Glimmering 1 silver78 copper | Large Glimmering 71 silver95 copper |
| 2 | Soul Dust 5 silver50 copper | Lesser Astral 9 silver | Greater Astral 27 silver78 copper | Small Glowing 19 silver90 copper | Large Glowing 3 gold50 silver |
| 3 | Vision Dust 18 silver90 copper | Lesser Mystic 11 silver99 copper | Greater Mystic 32 silver89 copper | Small Radiant 5 gold99 silver | Large Radiant 11 gold99 silver |
| 4 | Dream Dust 3 silver50 copper | Lesser Nether 2 gold5 silver | Greater Nether 7 gold49 silver | Small Brilliant 4 gold88 silver | not listed |
Strange Dust was the deepest market on the beta with more than ten thousand listed across both houses, followed by Soul Dust and Vision Dust in the low thousands. The top end was thin: Greater Nether Essence had 29 units listed, Large Radiant Shard 65 and Small Brilliant Shard just 3. Tier 5 (Illusion Dust, Greater Eternal Essence, Large Brilliant Shard, Nexus Crystal) had no listings at all, which matches a level cap of 20 to 30.
The essence gaps: our analysis
Here is the number nobody else prints. Each tier has a lesser and a greater essence. In Classic, three lesser essences combine into one greater, and one greater splits back into three lesser, by right-clicking. If Forever keeps that rule, the fair price of a greater essence is about three lessers. On the beta it was often far from that:
| Tier | Lesser x3 (2026-10-08) | Greater (2026-10-08) | Greater as a share of 3 lesser | What it means if conversion works |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Magic | 2 silver55 copper | 98 copper | 38% | buy Greater, split, sell Lesser |
| Astral | 20 silver31 copper | 23 silver99 copper | 118% | close to fair |
| Mystic | 41 silver97 copper | 26 silver97 copper | 64% | buy Greater, split, sell Lesser |
| Nether | 5 gold70 silver | 4 gold50 silver | 79% | buy Greater, split, sell Lesser |
The Magic and Mystic rows are the striking ones. A Greater Magic Essence was listed at barely more than one Lesser, and a Greater Mystic Essence at under two Lessers. If the Classic conversion rule holds in Forever, those are free money for anyone with a few minutes at the Auction House. If it does not hold, they are just two separate items with separate demand. Test it with one essence in game before you buy a stack.
What enchants cost to make
Enchants cannot be listed on the Auction House, but you can only price your service well if you know your bill. Here are representative bills for the levelling enchants, at 2026-10-08 prices:
| Enchant | Client skill band | Reagents | Bill |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enchant Bracer: Inferior Stamina | 20 to 25 | 1 Mote of Magic | 5 copper |
| Enchant Chest: Minor Absorption | 90 to 130 | 1 Lesser Magic Essence | 85 copper |
| Enchant Bracer: Minor Stamina | 100 to 140 | 2 Strange Dust | 3 silver96 copper |
| Enchant Weapon: Minor Striking | 120 to 160 | Strange Dust, Lesser Magic Essence, Small Glimmering Shard | 3 silver74 copper |
| Enchant Cloak: Minor Agility | 135 to 175 | 1 Lesser Astral Essence | 6 silver77 copper |
| Enchant Weapon: Lesser Striking | 165 to 205 | Soul Dust, Large Glimmering Shard | 39 silver53 copper |
| Enchant Bracer: Strength | 200 to 240 | 1 Vision Dust | 16 silver94 copper |
| Enchant Weapon: Dismantle | 200 to 235 | 4 Lesser Nether Essence, 2 Large Fang, 2 Small Radiant Shard | 14 gold15 silver |
The new enchants are where the bills jump. Three new weapon enchants at 140 to 180, Insight, Recovery and Revelation, cost 5 gold14 silver, 3 gold85 silver and 8 gold72 silver at beta prices, and Revelation needs four Cerulean Dye and four Sulfuric Acid from an alchemist. The five new necklace enchants at 225 to 265 cost between 73 gold65 silver and 125 gold97 silver each, mostly in Greater Nether Essence and Large Radiant Shards, so on the beta they were priced out of reach. Expect those bills to fall hard once the level cap opens and high-tier materials flood in.
Mote of Magic and the first 25 points
Forever adds
Mote of Magic, whose item text reads "Available from enchanting vendors". It is the reagent for the very first enchant (Inferior Stamina on bracers, skill 20 to 25) and for two new starter crafts: Runed Copper Rod and Novice's Practice Wand. There is also a new recipe, Dust to Motes, that turns one Strange Dust into three motes. On the beta a mote sold for 5 copper with more than a thousand listed, and Strange Dust for 1 silver98 copper, so turning dust into motes was a loss of about 92% of the value. Buy motes from the vendor; never convert dust.

The new items: relics, staves, wands
The new Enchanting item recipes are a surprise: librams, idols and totems (the Classic relic slots for paladins, druids and shamans), plus staves, orbs and wands. Here is what the client says about them:
| Item group | Examples | Client skill band | Required level | Binding |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter relics and off-hands | Tenets of the Silver Hand, Mystic Mushroom, Polished Driftwood Icon, Orb of Souls | 140 to 180 | 20 to 25 | Bind on Pickup |
| Starter staves | Glimmering Staff, Soulstaff | 140 to 180 | 25 | Bind on Pickup |
| Mid relics and staves | Libram of Invocation, Talons of Wrath, Totem of Ancestral Protection, Dreamstaff, Radiant Staff | 225 to 265 | 40 to 45 | Bind on Pickup |
| Late off-hands | Frozen, Molten and Dormant Heart of the Mountain | 285 to 325 | 50 | Bind on Pickup |
| Epic relics | Libram of Infusion, Totem of Urgency, Idol of Swiftness, Torch of Light | 310 to 325 | 60 | Bind on Equip |
| Top rare relics and wand | Idol of the Dream, Libram of Holy Alacrity, Totem of Thunder, Brilliant Wand | 320 to 360 | 55 to 60 | Bind on Pickup |
| Wands | Novice's Practice Wand, Twisted Nether Wand, Dreambough Wand, Lesser and Greater Eternal Wand | 10 to 305 | 1 to 55 | Bind on Equip |
That binding column is the gold verdict. Every new relic, orb, staff and Heart of the Mountain below skill 310 is Bind on Pickup in the client, and so are the rare relics and the Brilliant Wand in the 320 to 360 band, so none of those can go on the Auction House. Make them for yourself or your own alts. Only two groups can be sold: the four wands up to Greater Eternal Wand, and the six epic relics at 310 to 325, each of which needs Malleable Essence of Nature and a Nexus Crystal. The 320 to 360 band also sits above the Artisan cap of 300 that the client's trainer text gives; we do not know yet how a character reaches it. Tenets of the Silver Hand has one of the few item texts in this set: "A pristine copy of the holy tome."
The old wands still sell. Lesser Magic Wand and Greater Magic Wand both beat their bills on the beta (1 silver55 copper to 3 silver and 2 silver40 copper to 5 silver), and Greater Magic Wand had 128 listed.
Camp objects: Lute, Salvager, Arcane Forge
| Object | Client skill band | Reagents | Client text, short |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20 to 25 | Simple Wood, Strange Dust | Armor for players sitting nearby | |
| 140 to 145 | 2 Vision Dust, Lesser Magic Essence | "enables more efficient disenchanting", plus Lute benefits | |
| 300 | Maker's Spark, 2 Large Brilliant Shard, 4 Greater Eternal Essence | needed for recipes that require it |
The Arcane Salvager is the one to watch. The client says it makes disenchanting more efficient, without saying by how much. On the beta it was listed at 3 gold99 silver against a 2 gold23 silver bill, on one house. If "more efficient" means more materials per item, every enchanter will want one in their camp, and the materials table at the top of this page becomes your income statement. The Arcane Forge needs a
Maker's Spark, "a small spark of the Titans' power, enough to power an Arcane Forge"; its source is unknown.

How to make gold as an enchanter
- Disenchant every green you do not need. Sell the dust and essences in stacks; Strange Dust and Soul Dust move fast.
- Buy Mote of Magic from the enchanting vendor for your first 25 points. Do not convert dust.
- Watch the essence gaps above. If conversion works in Forever, buy underpriced greater essences and split them.
- Level on cheap enchants: Lesser Magic Essence bracers and chests are under 1 silver each.
- Make Lesser and Greater Magic Wands for sale; they beat their bills on the beta.
- Build an Arcane Salvager at 140 and test how much it adds.
- Do not make the new mid-level relics for sale. They are Bind on Pickup.
Risks to plan around
- Thin top tiers. Tier 3 and 4 materials had dozens of units listed, not thousands. A single disenchanting session by one player could move those prices by half.
- Conversion is unconfirmed. The essence gap table assumes the Classic three-to-one rule. If Forever drops it, those gaps are not arbitrage.
- Bind on Pickup relics. It is easy to spend a stack of shards on a Dreamstaff for a guildmate and then learn you cannot trade it. Check the binding before you craft for anyone else.
- Launch flood. Everyone disenchants their questing greens in launch week. Expect Strange Dust and Lesser Magic Essence to be at their cheapest in the first days, which is the time to buy for levelling and the wrong time to sell.
- The Salvager unknown. If the Arcane Salvager raises yields a lot, dust prices fall for everyone. Sell stock early if you see Salvagers spreading.
What to watch on the Auction House
- Strange Dust and Soul Dust volume in launch week.
- Greater against lesser essence prices in every tier.
- Large Radiant Shard and Greater Nether Essence, which dominate the new necklace enchant bills.
- Cerulean Dye and Sulfuric Acid, which the new weapon enchants and late relics need.
- Arcane Salvager listings once enchanters learn what it does.
