Leatherworking for Gold in Midnight: Banding, Wraps and Armor
Sin'dorei Armor Banding, Silvermoon Weapon Wrap, Scalewoven Hide and leather armor bills against live prices, plus why Majestic Hide sells better raw.
Lowest current buyout, US region commodity market, read from our Auction House tables. Verified
The short answer
Midnight Leatherworking makes small, steady money on two crafts and loses big money on one. The steady crafts are the higher rank
Silvermoon Weapon Wrap, which sold for 6 gold68 silver live, and the higher rank
Scalewoven Hide, at 5 gold; both cost less to make than they sold for on 2026-10-08. The big loss is the
Infused Scalewoven Hide: it needs one
Majestic Hide, which sold for 1,736 gold66 silver raw, and the finished hide sold for less than the Majestic Hide alone. If you skin a Majestic Hide, sell it.
Sin'dorei Armor Banding sat close to break even, and most leather armor has no Auction House price at all, so it is crafting order work.
The leather you work with
Our datamine of client build 12.1.0.69933 lists four common Midnight skinning materials at two grades each, plus four special finds. These are the inputs to every Leatherworking recipe on this page.
| Material | Rarity | Lower grade (now) | Higher grade (now) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Void-Tempered Leather | common | 85 silver | 1 gold15 silver |
| Void-Tempered Scales | common | 61 silver | 81 silver |
| Void-Tempered Hide | rare | 4 gold | 3 gold98 silver |
| Void-Tempered Plating | rare | 88 silver | 1 gold99 silver |
| Special find | Rarity | Price (now) | Main use in Leatherworking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Majestic Hide | epic | 1,736 gold66 silver | Infused Scalewoven Hide, furniture |
| Fantastic Fur | uncommon | 79 gold | Sin'dorei Armor Banding, rugs, pillows |
| Peerless Plumage | uncommon | 25 gold31 silver | charms, gauntlets |
| Carving Canine | uncommon | 79 silver | Silvermoon Weapon Wrap, charms |
On 2026-10-08 the common leather and scales sold for about 1 gold and 2 gold, the rare hide and plating for about 14 gold and 4 gold, and the special finds ranged from under 1 gold for Carving Canine to 1,750 gold5 silver for Majestic Hide. That spread decides everything below.
The crafting reagents: bills against prices
Leatherworkers sell four intermediate reagents that other crafters need. Here is each one at our 2026-10-08 prices. The break-even yield is the bill divided by the sale price: how many items one craft must produce to cover its reagents.
| Craft | Reagents | Bill (2026-10-08) | Lower rank sale | Higher rank sale | Break-even, lower | Break-even, higher |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Silvermoon Weapon Wrap | 1 Void-Tempered Hide, 2 Mote of Light, 1 Carving Canine | 16 gold18 silver | 15 gold49 silver | 22 gold15 silver | 1.04 | 0.73 |
| Scalewoven Hide | 1 Void-Tempered Hide, 1 Void-Tempered Plating | 17 gold78 silver | 13 gold82 silver | 21 gold96 silver | 1.29 | 0.81 |
| Sin'dorei Armor Banding | 1 Void-Tempered Plating, 2 Mote of Light, 1 Fantastic Fur | 89 gold45 silver | 72 gold99 silver | 62 gold | 1.23 | 1.44 |
| Infused Scalewoven Hide | 1 Scalewoven Hide, 8 motes (2 of each), 1 Majestic Hide | 1,767 gold99 silver | 1,000 gold95 silver | 1,079 gold | 1.77 | 1.64 |
The Weapon Wrap and the Scalewoven Hide both pay at the higher rank on a single craft. The Wrap is the cleaner of the two: its bill is almost all one Void-Tempered Hide, and Carving Canine was close to worthless on our snapshot. The Armor Banding is the opposite: its bill is nearly all Fantastic Fur, which was 79 gold79 silver live and around 84 gold50 silver inside the snapshot bill. On our numbers the Banding ran a small loss at both ranks, with the higher rank strangely priced below the lower rank.
The Majestic Hide decision
This is the most important number on the page. The Infused Scalewoven Hide uses one Majestic Hide, and on 2026-10-08 that one hide was worth more than the finished product.
| Line | Value (2026-10-08) |
|---|---|
| Majestic Hide, raw | 1,750 gold5 silver |
| Scalewoven Hide | 13 gold82 silver |
| Eight motes | 4 gold12 silver |
| Bill, total | 1,767 gold99 silver |
| Infused Scalewoven Hide, higher rank | 1,079 gold |
| Loss per craft at the higher rank | 688 gold99 silver |
The Majestic Hide was 99 percent of the bill. Infusing it threw away about 689 gold even at the higher rank. So sell every Majestic Hide you skin, and buy Infused Scalewoven Hide from the market if you need one for your own crafts. The only time to infuse is if the Majestic Hide price falls below the Infused Scalewoven Hide price, which you can check in two seconds against the strip at the top of the page.
Leather armor: bills without prices
Our recipe table lists two families of Midnight leather and mail armor. The Scout's pieces are made from common leather and scales only. The Silvermoon Agent's, Farstrider's and Row Walker's pieces add Armor Banding, an Infused Scalewoven Hide and a
Tormented Tantalum. Our tables held no Auction House price for any of them on our snapshot, so this section gives bills, not margins.
| Armor piece | Main reagents | Bill (2026-10-08) |
|---|---|---|
| Scout's Scaled Bracers | 20 Scales, 10 Leather | 49 gold50 silver |
| Scout's Scaled Boots | 25 Scales, 10 Leather | 59 gold40 silver |
| Scout's Scaled Vest | 25 Scales, 15 Leather | 64 gold35 silver |
| Scout's Polished Wrap | 30 Scales, 15 Leather | 74 gold25 silver |
| Scout's Polished Skullcap | 40 Scales, 20 Leather | 99 gold |
| Scout's Polished Spaulders | 40 Scales, 20 Leather, 1 Carving Canine | 100 gold19 silver |
| Scout's Polished Gauntlets | 40 Scales, 20 Leather, 1 Peerless Plumage | 136 gold75 silver |
| Scout's Polished Legguards | 40 Scales, 20 Leather, 1 Fantastic Fur | 183 gold50 silver |
The Scout's line is cheap because common leather and scales were cheap. Those pieces are useful as levelling gear for alts and as disenchanting fodder, but without a market price we cannot say whether they sell above their bill. Craft one, list it, and see.
The epic pieces are another matter. Take the Silvermoon Agent's Coat: 150 Leather, 75 Scales, 2 Armor Banding, 1 Infused Scalewoven Hide and 1 Tormented Tantalum. Buying every reagent at our snapshot prices came to 1,672 gold43 silver, and the Infused Scalewoven Hide alone was 60 percent of it. Pieces like this are made to order, with the customer bringing the hide and the tantalum. See the crafting orders page for how to price that.
Where leatherworkers get their leather
Skinners report Void-Tempered Leather and Scales from beasts across Midnight. We have not timed a skinning farm, so these are suggestions rather than yields.

Harandar: Levels 83-88, Unknown, Zone ID 15355
Harandar is full of large beasts and is where most skinners start. The Majestic Hide and other special finds come from skinning in general, according to player reports; we have not measured their drop chance.

Zul'Aman: Levels 83-88, Eastern Kingdoms, Zone ID 15947
Zul'Aman is the other zone skinners name for beasts with scales.

Not walked yet
No hourly gold figure is published here until this route has been walked end to end with a timer and a full loot log. Until then this page gives you the inputs (live prices and what drops) and leaves the arithmetic to you.
What to do first
- Sell every Majestic Hide raw while it is worth more than an Infused Scalewoven Hide.
- Make Silvermoon Weapon Wraps with your Concentration. Their bill is low and the higher rank paid well on our snapshot.
- Make Scalewoven Hide from Void-Tempered Hide and Plating when you can hit the higher rank.
- Only make Armor Banding when Fantastic Fur is cheap; the fur is almost the whole bill.
- Take epic armor work through crafting orders, never on spec.
Risks and what to watch on the Auction House
The special finds swing the most. Majestic Hide and Fantastic Fur are rare drops with thin markets, so their prices can halve or double in a week. Every recipe that uses them moves with them. In past expansions, demand for armor reagents like these climbed when a new season sent players to craft new epic armor and eased later; we have not yet measured that pattern for Banding or Infused Scalewoven Hide in our own tables. Common leather and scales are the safest stock to hold, because nearly every armor piece eats them by the hundred.
Leatherworking with your own skinner
Most leatherworkers also skin, and that changes the arithmetic. When you skin your own leather, your bill is not the Auction House price; it is what you could have sold that leather for. The decision is the same, but the numbers come from your bags.
Here is how to think about each material a skinner brings home:
- Majestic Hide: sell it. On our snapshot it was worth more raw than any craft it feeds.
- Fantastic Fur and Peerless Plumage: these were worth 36 gold to 80 gold each. Use them in Armor Banding only when the Banding sells above the fur's price plus a plating, which it did not on our snapshot.
- Carving Canine: worth under a gold on our snapshot. Turn it into Silvermoon Weapon Wraps, where it adds almost nothing to the bill.
- Void-Tempered Hide and Plating: turn them into Scalewoven Hide or Weapon Wraps when you can hit the higher rank, otherwise sell them raw.
- Common Leather and Scales: stock them for crafting orders. Every armor piece eats them by the hundred, and customers often ask the crafter to supply them.
How a Scout's piece becomes useful gold
The Scout's armor line has no Auction House price on our snapshot, but it still has uses. Each piece costs 50 gold to 184 gold in common materials and gives Leatherworking skill points while you are still levelling the profession. Alts can wear them while levelling. And an enchanter can disenchant them for materials. Whether that disenchant beats the bill depends on yields we have not measured, so test a few before crafting a stack.
Selling leatherworking goods without losing money
The reagents a leatherworker sells on the Auction House are commodities, so one price covers the region and the cheapest listing sets it. A few habits protect your margin.
- Check both ranks before you list. The Weapon Wrap and Scalewoven Hide had a real gap between ranks on our snapshot. A higher rank wrap listed at the lower rank price throws away about a third of its value.
- List in small batches. Wraps and hides sell steadily but not in huge numbers. Five at a time keeps you from becoming the price floor.
- Watch the strip before each batch. If the item sits near its 14-day low, hold it. Leather goods keep forever.
- Do not undercut by a lot. Undercutting by a few copper sells just as fast as undercutting by a gold.
- Sell special finds quickly. Majestic Hide and Fantastic Fur have thin markets, and their prices can fall fast when another skinner lists.
The one number to check every day
If you only check one thing as a leatherworker, check the Majestic Hide price against the Infused Scalewoven Hide price. Those two lines decide whether the top of the profession is worth crafting at all. On our snapshot the raw hide was worth about 671 gold more than the infused hide at the higher rank, so every infusion threw gold away. The day that gap closes, every epic leather piece, both top armor kits and the Herbtender's Cradle get cheaper to make, and order work becomes far more attractive.
Common leatherworker mistakes
- Infusing Majestic Hides. On our snapshot it lost about 689 gold per craft.
- Pricing the Banding without the fur. Fantastic Fur was more than 90 percent of the Banding bill.
- Crafting epic armor for the Auction House. No piece had a market price, and the bills ran past 1,600 gold.
- Forgetting the scales. The Scout's and epic pieces all eat scales in bulk, and scales cost twice as much as leather.

How this guide was written
Prices on this page are read live from TheWoWDB Auction House tables when the page loads. Item names, icons, zones and art come from our own datamine of the game client. We do not publish gold-per-hour numbers for any route nobody has walked and timed, so where a rate would go this page says so. Read the full method or the about page.
