Concentration in Midnight: Which Crafts Deserve It
Every Midnight craft we could price ranked by the gold gap between its quality ranks, so you know where one use of Concentration earns the most today.
Lowest current buyout, US region commodity market, read from our Auction House tables. Verified
The short answer
Concentration lifts a craft's result by one quality rank, so its value is the price gap between the two ranks of what you make. On our 2026-10-08 snapshot the biggest gaps in Midnight were the raid flasks, where the higher rank
Flask of the Blood Knights sold for 389 gold against 95 gold at the lower rank, and the Arcanoweave Spellthread. Measured by ratio instead of gold, the higher rank
Sin'dorei Lens led every craft at almost six times the lower rank. Spend Concentration on flasks if you are an alchemist, on lenses and prisms if you are a jeweller, and on alloys if you are a smith. Do not spend it on rare cloth bolts or Armor Banding, where the two ranks sold for about the same.
How Concentration works, in brief
Concentration is a per profession resource shown as a number in your profession window, next to a Concentrate toggle beside the reagent list. Turn the toggle on and the craft's predicted quality goes up by one rank, at a cost in Concentration points that depends on the recipe and your skill. Concentration refills slowly over time, so it is a scarce resource, and the question is simply where to spend it.
We have not datamined the point cost curves yet, so this page does not print a cost per craft or a gold value per point. We rank crafts by the one number that does not depend on the curve: the gold you gain when one craft moves up a rank. If two crafts cost you similar points, spend them on the one with the bigger gap.
- Find the craft's two ranks on the Auction House.
- Subtract the lower rank price from the higher rank price. That is the gap.
- Compare gaps across your recipes. Concentrate on the biggest one that you can actually lift to the top rank.
- Check the point cost the game shows you, and skip a craft if its cost is far higher than another craft with a similar gap.
The ranking: gold gap per craft
These are every Midnight craft our tables priced at both ranks on 2026-10-08, sorted by the gold gap between ranks. Multiplying by a single craft assumes one item per craft; crafts that make several items per craft gain the gap on each one.

What the ranking tells you
Read the top of the table and four patterns stand out.
Flasks are the most reliable target. All four raid flasks sat in the top six by gold gap, with the higher rank worth three to four times the lower rank. Flask demand is also steady, because raiders need a flask every raid night. An alchemist with Concentration to spare should spend it on flasks before anything else. The flask cost page shows why: on Silver herbs, a flask that reaches the higher rank roughly pays its whole bill, while a lower rank flask needs three per craft.
The spellthread is the biggest single gap, with a catch. The Arcanoweave Spellthread gained 600 gold1 silver per rank, but its bill on our snapshot was above 2,100 gold, including four Petrified Roots. A failed or lower rank craft is an expensive mistake. Concentrate on spellthreads only if you are confident the toggle lands the higher rank.
Ratios matter for cheap crafts. The Sin'dorei Lens gap was 177 gold41 silver, smaller than the flasks, but the ratio was 5.89x and the bill was only about 59 gold. That means the lens risks very little gold per craft. For a jeweller with limited gold, the lens is the best Concentration target, because the cost of a bad result is small.
Some crafts are not worth Concentration at all. The rare cloth bolts and the Sin'dorei Armor Banding showed no meaningful gap: their two ranks sold for about the same, and the Banding's higher rank actually sold for less. Using Concentration there buys nothing.
The best Concentration target in each profession
| Profession | Best target on our snapshot | Gap (2026-10-08) | Runner up |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alchemy | Flask of the Blood Knights | 291 gold1 silver | Flask of the Shattered Sun |
| Jewelcrafting | Kaleidoscopic Prism | 254 gold87 silver | Sin'dorei Lens |
| Tailoring | Arcanoweave Spellthread | 600 gold1 silver | Sunfire Silk Lining |
| Inscription | Codified Azeroot | 112 gold95 silver | Sienna Ink |
| Blacksmithing | Gloaming Alloy | 92 gold | Sterling Alloy |
| Engineering | Soul Sprocket | 56 gold66 silver | Song Gear |
| Leatherworking | Infused Scalewoven Hide | 78 gold5 silver | Scalewoven Hide |
One warning on the Leatherworking row. The Infused Scalewoven Hide had a 78 gold5 silver gap, but its bill included a Majestic Hide that was worth more raw than the finished hide. Concentrating on a craft that loses 689 gold in reagents does not save it. The practical Leatherworking target is the Scalewoven Hide or the Silvermoon Weapon Wrap, which are cheap and still gain a rank.
Reagent grade or Concentration?
There are two ways to raise quality: buy higher grade reagents, or spend Concentration. Our flask numbers make the trade off concrete. On 2026-10-08, upgrading the cheapest herb slot of the Blood Knights flask from Silver to Gold cost about 100 gold extra per craft, and upgrading every herb cost 330 gold extra. Concentration costs no gold at all. So the rule is simple:
- Craft with the cheapest grade of every reagent.
- Turn on Concentration and see whether the predicted quality reaches the higher rank.
- If it falls short, add the cheapest higher grade reagent one slot at a time until it does.
- Stop as soon as the meter reaches the higher rank. Every extra Gold reagent after that is wasted gold.
Where the crafts' materials come from
The best Concentration targets lean on herbs for flasks and inks, on ore for alloys and engineering parts, and on Crystalline Glass for lenses. We have not walked a gathering route for this page.

The isle is where Midnight's story builds toward its endgame in our datamine, and endgame raids are what create flask and spellthread demand in the first place.

Gap per craft against gap per gold
The table ranks by the gold gained when a craft moves up a rank. There is a second way to look at the same data: the gap divided by the craft's bill. That tells you how much rank value you gain for every gold you put at risk, which matters when gold is short.
| Craft | Bill (2026-10-08) | Gap (2026-10-08) | Gap per gold of bill |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sin'dorei Lens | 59 gold5 silver | 177 gold41 silver | 3.00 |
| Refulgent Copper Ingot | 23 gold67 silver | 28 gold99 silver | 1.22 |
| Gloaming Alloy | 82 gold84 silver | 92 gold | 1.11 |
| Munsell Ink | 37 gold32 silver | 38 gold19 silver | 1.02 |
| Flask of the Blood Knights | 295 gold60 silver | 291 gold1 silver | 0.98 |
| Sterling Alloy | 88 gold84 silver | 87 gold3 silver | 0.98 |
| Soul Sprocket | 62 gold74 silver | 56 gold66 silver | 0.90 |
| Soul Cipher | 47 gold83 silver | 41 gold65 silver | 0.87 |
| Codified Azeroot | 130 gold68 silver | 112 gold95 silver | 0.86 |
| Kaleidoscopic Prism | 331 gold14 silver | 254 gold87 silver | 0.77 |
| Flask of the Shattered Sun | 397 gold72 silver | 285 gold | 0.72 |
| Arcanoweave Spellthread | 2,101 gold53 silver | 600 gold1 silver | 0.29 |
Sorted this way, the lens is in a class of its own, and the cheap intermediates, ingots, alloys and inks, climb above the flasks. The spellthread, top of the gold ranking, falls near the bottom: its gap is big, but so is the gold you risk on every craft. If your gold is limited, use this second table. If gold is not a constraint, use the first.
A week of Concentration, planned
Here is how a crafter with two professions might plan a week on our snapshot numbers.
- List every craft you know that appears in the ranking.
- Cross out any craft whose higher rank price sits below its bill. Concentration does not make those profitable.
- Order the rest by gap, or by gap per gold if you are short on gold.
- Check each item's live price against its 14-day range. Skip anything near its 14-day low this week.
- Spend Concentration from the top of the list down, and stop crafting a given item once you have listed what the market can absorb.
When the ranking flips
A gap is only as good as the market behind it, and the market moves. Three things flip this ranking more often than anything else.
The first is a flood of the higher rank. When many crafters chase the same gap, the higher rank supply rises and its price falls toward the lower rank. The gap shrinks, sometimes within a day. If you see a higher rank price sliding toward its 14-day low while the lower rank holds steady, other crafters are already spending their Concentration there. Move yours to the next craft down the list.
The second is a reagent spike. Concentration does not change the bill. If the Lotus jumps, every flask bill jumps with it, and a flask that cleared its bill at the higher rank yesterday may not today. Check the bill side as well as the gap side.
The third is a patch. New recipes, new optional reagents or a change to a stat can make a craft obsolete or create a new one overnight. Our ranking is built from client build 12.1.0.69933; after a patch, treat it as a starting point and recheck everything.
Mistakes to avoid
- Spending Concentration on whatever you craft next. It refills slowly. Save it for the biggest gaps.
- Concentrating on crafts that lose gold. A rank bump on a craft whose bill is above its higher rank price only reduces the loss.
- Ignoring the ratio on cheap crafts. A big ratio on a cheap craft, like the lens, is low risk.
- Using an old ranking. Gaps move with demand. Recheck the live strips before a big Concentration session.

How this guide was written
Prices on this page are read live from TheWoWDB Auction House tables when the page loads. Item names, icons, zones and art come from our own datamine of the game client. We do not publish gold-per-hour numbers for any route nobody has walked and timed, so where a rate would go this page says so. Read the full method or the about page.
