Stratholme in WoW Forever: Runecloth, Orbs and Drops

The short answer

Stratholme is a Runecloth dungeon first and a loot dungeon second. The Forever client gives Bolt of Runecloth 179 recipes, 66 of them new, so the cloth the Scourge and Scarlet humans drop here feeds the biggest single reagent tree in Tailoring. On 2026-10-08 the beta scans had Runecloth at … and Bolt of Runecloth at 20 silver, both from very thin markets. Alongside the cloth, Stratholme was the Classic source of Righteous Orb and Essence of Undeath, which together appear in 62 recipes and had no beta listings at all, plus a handful of tradeable plans and patterns. The client tunes the city to level 55, so on the beta this is a plan for launch.

What the client says about Stratholme

Stratholme is map 329 in the Forever client (folder Stratholme, five players). The dungeon finder table has one Stratholme entry (id 39) pointing at a content tuning row set to level 55 in build 70291. The achievement tables carry a new "Baron Rivendare kills (Stratholme)" statistic, listed twice under two ids.

The encounter table lists 19 encounters, matching the Classic Era client. We split them by side using the Classic layout, which the client does not label:

Runecloth: the demand number

Here is the analysis this page is built around. Our profession extract (build 70124) lists every recipe that takes Bolt of Runecloth. There are 179 of them: 176 in Tailoring, two in Leatherworking (the Gordok Ogre Suit pair) and one in Fishing. A bolt takes five Runecloth.

Sixty-six new recipes is a lot of new demand. They include whole cloth sets that do not exist in Classic: Earthenweave (eight pieces), the Conviction, Manaflare and Demonheart lines, Ghostweave, Venomspew and Swarmtender's pieces, a colour series of sandals, waistcords and gloves (Radiant, Golden, Gilded, Frothing, Fiery, Black), a Runecloth Reagent Bag, a Bottomless Reagent Bag, and two camp objects: the Tailoring Loom and the Fishing Hut. The heaviest single crafts are Dreamscale Mitts and Dreamscale Bracers at 30 bolts each, which is 150 Runecloth per piece.

On 2026-10-08 five Runecloth at … came to 2 gold50 silver, while a bolt listed at 21 silver. That is not a real spread, it is a market with ten cloth on one house and a few dozen bolts. Ignore the gap and remember the shape: thousands of Runecloth are needed just to make each Forever recipe once, before anyone levels Tailoring by crafting the same cheap item over and over.

Righteous Orb and Essence of Undeath

The Scarlet side of Stratholme was the Classic source of Righteous Orb, and the Scourge side gave Essence of Undeath and Ichor of Undeath. None had a beta listing on 2026-10-08.

Righteous Orb is the wide one. Most of its 45 recipes take a single orb, but they span four crafting professions: the Scarlet Soldier's plate set, the Scarlet Huntsman's and Infiltrator's leather sets, the Scarlet Augur's cloth set, Girdle and Gloves of the Dawn, the Arcanite Champion, and several weapon enchants such as Crusader and the Grand Crusader line. A Righteous Orb vendors for 2 gold, which sets a hard floor nobody should sell under.

Essence of Undeath is the deep one. It appears in only 17 recipes, but some take a lot: the Persuader takes 20, Enchant Bracer: Greater Spellpower takes 12, and the Annihilator takes 10. One new Enchanting recipe, Frozen Heart of the Mountain, also uses it. Alchemy can transmute one Essence of Undeath into Essence of Water, which ties its price to the water market.

Tradeable plans and patterns

Several Blacksmithing plans and Tailoring patterns tied to this level band have no binding in the beta client. These are the ones that matter for a Stratholme player:

• Plans: Serenity and Plans: Corruption: Blacksmithing plans with no binding, vendor 50 silver and 55 silver. In Classic, Stratholme's two smith encounters, the Black Guard Swordsmith and the Crimson Hammersmith, dropped Blacksmithing plans; the client lists both smiths as encounters.
• Pattern: Runecloth Bag, Pattern: Runecloth Tunic, Pants, Headband and Pattern: Runecloth Shoulders: Tailoring patterns with no binding. The Robe, Cloak, Gloves and Boots patterns are Bind on Pickup in the client.
• Frayed Abomination Stitching: a Classic Stratholme quest reagent that is tradeable in both clients.

None of these had a beta listing on 2026-10-08. The Plans for the Scarlet Soldier's set (for example Plans: Scarlet Soldier's Helmet) are also tradeable rare items in the client, which gives Righteous Orbs a second layer of demand once those plans circulate.

The new Writs

The Forever client adds a family of tradeable Craftsman's Writs. Two of them point at Runecloth: Craftsman's Writ: Runecloth Bag and Craftsman's Writ: Runecloth Boots. Both are rare quality with no binding. Low-level Writs already traded on the beta for roughly one to three gold each. What a Writ does when used is not in the client files, so we treat any use as a theory until someone tests it. If Writs turn out to commission crafts, Runecloth Bag Writs could become a steady buyer of Runecloth.

A Stratholme cloth run, step by step

1. Go at level 57 or higher with a group. The client tunes the city to 55.
2. Pick a side by what you want. The Scarlet side gave Righteous Orbs in Classic; the Scourge side gave Essence of Undeath. Both give Runecloth.
3. Loot every humanoid and every undead that can carry cloth.
4. Keep every Righteous Orb above its 2 gold vendor price. Selling under vendor is losing gold.
5. Bank Essence of Undeath for enchanters and weaponsmiths; its biggest recipes take ten to twenty.
6. Bolt Runecloth only if a bolt clearly sells above five cloth plus the cut. Otherwise sell cloth raw.
7. List tradeable plans and patterns. Vendor soulbound gear you do not need.

Live side or undead side

Stratholme splits into two halves, and for gold the choice is about which reagent you want, because the cloth comes from both.

The Scarlet half is full of humans. In Classic that meant Runecloth from almost every pull, Righteous Orbs from the Crusaders, and the Crimson Hammersmith as a rare encounter with a Blacksmithing plan. If you have a leatherworker, blacksmith or tailor waiting on Scarlet set recipes, this is the half that feeds them, since every one of those Scarlet set crafts takes a Righteous Orb.

The undead half is the Scourge. Its humanoid undead dropped Runecloth too, and the undead in general were where Essence of Undeath and Ichor of Undeath came from. It also holds Baron Rivendare, the encounter Forever now counts in a statistic. If an enchanter in your group wants to make Greater Spellpower bracer enchants at twelve essences each, this is the half to run.

Our suggestion for a pure gold farmer is to start with the Scarlet half. It has more humanoids per pull, so more cloth, and the orb has a 2 gold vendor floor that protects you from a crashed market. Switch to the undead half once Essence of Undeath has a real price.

The launch timeline for Runecloth

Runecloth demand will not arrive all at once. The cheapest Runecloth recipes in the extract start around skill 210 to 260, so the first buyers are tailors pushing through the middle of the profession. They want cloth in bulk and they want it cheap, because they are crafting the same item over and over for skill.

The second wave is the new Forever sets. Most of the 66 new recipes sit between skill 300 and 330, so they need tailors who have already finished levelling. Those buyers are fewer but they pay more, and some of their crafts take 16 to 22 bolts each.

The third wave is bags and camp objects. The Runecloth Reagent Bag, the Bottomless Reagent Bag and the Loom are crafts that almost every tailor wants once, and bags sell to everyone. That is slow, steady demand that lasts long after launch week.

What to watch on the Auction House

• Runecloth depth. Ten pieces on one house is not a market. Watch the floor once level 55 characters exist.
• The bolt to cloth ratio. A healthy market puts a bolt a little above five cloth. Anything else is a thin-market accident.
• Righteous Orb floor. Never under the 2 gold vendor price.
• Writ use. If Craftsman's Writs turn out to commission crafts, Runecloth Bag and Boots Writs become a new cloth buyer.

Is Stratholme worth farming?

For cloth, yes, once you can reach it: Forever adds 66 new Bolt of Runecloth recipes, and the full tree needs nearly 7,000 Runecloth to craft once. For reagents, the orb and the essence feed dozens of high level recipes across five professions. For boss loot it is a long run with mostly soulbound rewards. We have not walked or timed a Forever route, so there is no rate here, only the inputs above.
