The short answer

Quest money is the most reliable gold you will earn while levelling in WoW Forever, because it does not depend on the Auction House at all. In the slice of the beta quest cache we hold, 258 quests from levels 1 to 29, 108 of them pay coin, and together they pay 5 gold41 silver. The best zones for quest money in that slice are Darkshore at 1 gold14 silver and Silverpine Forest at 1 gold. The single best quest is Light's Justice in the new Ruins of Lordaeron dungeon at 45 silver. For item rewards, the rule is to take whichever choice is worth most at the vendor unless you will wear it, because most quest rewards cannot be traded.

What the cache holds

The beta client stores quest details as players and tools encounter them. We read 258 of those records. Here is how they spread by level, with the coin they pay.

Quest levelQuests in the cacheQuests that pay coinCoin paid in total
1 to 439146 silver25 copper
5 to 9773062 silver20 copper

15 to 1932151 gold71 silver
20 to 241351 gold13 silver
25 to 295118 silver

The pattern is clear even in a partial sample. Below level 5, quests pay a few copper. From 10 to 19, the 58 paying quests in the cache pay 3 gold42 silver between them, an average of a little under six silver each. From quest level 20 to 24, the few paying quests we have average more than twenty silver. Quest money scales hard with level, which is why the quests you skip at 25 cost more than the ones you skip at 8.

Four of the top seven are dungeon quests. If you want quest money, run dungeons with every quest for them in your log. In the cache, the four dungeon quests in that top seven pay 1 gold18 silver between them, more than twice what the 23 Elwynn Forest quests and the 25 Dun Morogh quests pay put together (45 silver55 copper).

Darkshore and Silverpine Forest lead because they sit in the 10 to 20 range, where most of the cache sits. They also show something worth knowing for planning: a second zone pays four to five times what a starting zone pays in total. A character that skips its second zone to grind mobs gives up most of its early quest money.

New quests in Forever

Of the 258 quests in the cache, 84 do not appear in the Classic Era quest list our tooling compares against, so we count them as new to Forever. Thirty-two of those pay coin, 1 gold31 silver in total. The biggest are Light's Justice (45 silver), Watching the Roads in Silverpine (12 silver), Prompt Potion Runner in Undercity (8 silver) and Underground Map in Dun Morogh (7 silver). There is also a batch of new Paladin class quests, among them The Tarnished and A Lesson in Divinity at 5 silver each, and new Tirisfal quests such as That Shadowvale Green Elixir and Whispering Horror Residue, which tie in with the new Forsaken areas the client adds at Bandarion Keep, Shadowvale and the Whispering Forest.

Blizzard has said the new Riverglades zone alone carries nearly 200 quests. None of them are in our cache yet, because the zone is above the beta cap. When they are, this page will grow.

Item rewards: take the vendor value

Most quest reward items in Forever bind when picked up, so you cannot sell them on the Auction House. For a reward you will not wear, the only value is what a merchant pays. Here are the choices from the best-paying quests above, with their client vendor prices.

  1. If one choice is an upgrade you will wear for five levels or more, take it. The vendor difference is a few silver at most.
  2. If nothing fits, take the highest vendor price. On The Blackwood Corrupted that is the Moonstone Wand, worth 2 silver64 copper more than the Wildkeeper Leggings.
  3. Keep bags. The Deviate Hide Pack vendors for 12 silver50 copper, but a bag slot is worth far more to you while levelling.
  4. Learn recipes you can use; vendor the rest. Recipe: Seasoned Wolf Kabob vendors for 4 silver.
  5. Sell food rewards only if you cannot eat them. Four Seasoned Wolf Kabobs save you buying food for a while.

Quest coin measured in materials

To see what a quest is really worth, compare its coin with what the same level of play brings in from the Auction House. Here are the top quests from the sample, each converted into the material a character of that level would most likely be gathering, at 2026-10-08 beta prices.

QuestCoinSame value in materials
Light's Justice (level 22)45 silverAbout 11 Tin Ore at 4 silver8 copper, or 5 Heavy Leather at 8 silver39 copper
The Blackwood Corrupted (level 18)20 silverAbout 5 Briarthorn at 3 silver95 copper
Deep Ocean, Vast Sea (level 17)18 silverAbout 11 Medium Leather at 1 silver60 copper
A Recipe For Death (level 15)14 silverAbout 18 Wool Cloth at 79 copper
Buzzbox 411 (level 12)10 silverAbout 13 Wool Cloth

The conversions are our arithmetic, rounded. Read them the other way round and the point is plain: a single dungeon quest pays as much as a full bag row of the materials you gather at that level, and it pays it without a listing fee, an Auction House cut or a buyer. On the beta, where many material markets are thin, that certainty is worth even more than the number suggests.

Class quests and the new Forsaken story

Eight quests in the cache are Paladin class quests, and all eight are new to Forever. That fits what Blizzard has said about Forsaken Paladins, whose story Blizzard says begins at Bandarion Keep in the Whispering Wood of Tirisfal Glades. Our new-world extract (build 70058) lists Bandarion Keep, Shadowvale and the Whispering Forest as new Tirisfal areas, each with an explore level of 8. Together the eight pay 20 silver, and the best of them pay 5 silver each. That is small in coin, but they come with class rewards you would otherwise have to buy or craft.

Druid, Shaman, Warlock, Mage and Warrior class quests also appear in the cache, but none of them pay coin. Their value is in the item or spell they grant.

A money-first quest plan from 10 to 20

  1. Take every quest in your second zone and finish them before you move on. In the sample, Darkshore and Silverpine Forest each pay more than 1 gold across their quests.
  2. Collect the dungeon quests for Wailing Caverns, Ragefire Chasm, Blackfathom Deeps or the new Ruins of Lordaeron as soon as you can accept them.
  3. Run the dungeon once with every quest in your log. Repeating a dungeon pays loot, not quest coin.
  4. Turn in reward items you will not wear at the vendor the same day; they only take bag space.
  5. Bank the coin. In this range a few dungeon quests cover a good part of your training costs.

The client's quest money table

The beta client also ships a reference table of quest money by quest level and a difficulty column. We have not matched each quest to its column, and the rewards in our cache do not line up with it exactly, so read this as the scale the game works on rather than as a promise for any single quest. Values are from build 70291.

Quest levelColumn 2Column 4Column 6Column 7
1085 copper2 silver50 copper7 silver10 silver
203 silver9 silver25 silver35 silver
307 silver21 silver55 silver80 silver
4012 silver35 silver1 gold1 gold50 silver
5018 silver55 silver1 gold45 silver2 gold20 silver
6023 silver70 silver1 gold80 silver2 gold70 silver

Two things stand out. Every column grows about tenfold from level 10 to level 40, and then keeps growing more slowly to 60. And the top column at level 60 is 2 gold70 silver, which puts a single high-level quest in the same range as a full early zone's worth of quest money. Questing from level 40 to 60 is where quest gold becomes a real part of the mount fund.

How to get the most from quest money

  1. Clear your second zone. It pays several times what your starting zone does.
  2. Pick up every dungeon quest before you queue. Dungeon quests carry the biggest single rewards in the cache.
  3. Choose rewards by vendor value when nothing is an upgrade.
  4. Do not skip mid-level quests to grind. The table shows quest money climbing fastest between 10 and 40.
  5. Watch for the Riverglades at 36 to 44: nearly 200 new quests, per Blizzard, in the bracket where the money table is steepest.

Changelog

  • 2026-10-08: First version. Quest records from our beta quest cache (builds 70058 and 70124), compared against the Classic Era quest list (build 1.15.9.70003); quest money table and item vendor prices as of beta build 70291.

How this guide was written

Prices on this page are read live from TheWoWDB Auction House tables when the page loads. Item names, icons, zones and art come from our own datamine of the game client. We do not publish gold-per-hour numbers for any route nobody has walked and timed, so where a rate would go this page says so. WoW Forever is in beta: every fact here is labelled with the client build it was read from and can change before launch. Read the full method or the about page.
