Maraudon in WoW Forever: Herbs, Ore and Drops

Maraudon on the WoW Forever beta: the client's eight encounters, why boss loot is soulbound, Ghost Mushroom, Blindweed and Mithril prices, and the recipes that buy them.

Updated · By Christopher Lucas · WoW Forever beta, as of beta build 70291

The short answer

Maraudon is a gatherer's dungeon. The bosses drop soulbound gear, every single named piece we checked, so the money comes from what grows and what sits in the rock: Ghost Mushroom, Blindweed, Purple Lotus and Mithril. On 2026-10-08 the beta scans had Blindweed at 34 silver99 copper and Purple Lotus at 1 gold20 silver, while Ghost Mushroom had no beta listing at all. Mithril Ore sat at 9 silver50 copper with Mithril Bar at 12 silver18 copper, so smelting barely added anything. The client tunes Maraudon to level 42, well above the beta cap, so for now this page is a launch plan with today's prices attached.

What the client says about Maraudon

The Forever client keeps Maraudon as map 349, still using the old misspelled folder name "Mauradon", with a ten-player cap in its map row. The dungeon finder table has one Maraudon entry (id 25) pointing at a content tuning row set to level 42 in build 70291.

The encounter table lists eight bosses, the same eight as the Classic Era client:

OrderEncounterNote
1NoxxionEra encounter
2RazorlashEra encounter
3Tinkerer GizlockEra encounter
4Lord VyletongueEra encounter
5Celebras the CursedEra encounter
6LandslideEra encounter
7RotgripEra encounter
8Princess TheradrasEra encounter, new kill statistic in Forever

Forever adds a "Princess Theradras kills (Maraudon)" statistic to the achievement tables, the same kind of counter it adds for other old dungeon end bosses. Nothing else in the encounter list has changed.

The binding check: boss loot is not income

Before you plan a Maraudon gold run around a boss, look at this table. We pulled the binding flag for ten named boss drops from the Classic Era client tables. The Forever client carries rows for these items but leaves names and binding to the server, so the Era rule is our best evidence until server data is readable.

Bracers of the Stone Princess49Pickup1 gold2 silver
Eye of Theradras49Pickup1 gold2 silver
Princess Theradras' Scepter49Pickup4 gold48 silver

Ten for ten soulbound. Added together, those ten items vendor for 17 gold27 silver, an average of about 1 gold73 silver each. That is the real cash value of Maraudon boss loot if nobody in the group needs it: vendor silver, and decent vendor silver, but never Auction House gold.

One tradeable boss-adjacent item is named in the Forever client: Razorlash Root. It has no binding, requires level 40 and vendors for 5 silver. The name ties it to Razorlash, but the client gives no drop source, and it had no beta listing on 2026-10-08.

The herbs: what Maraudon grows and who buys it

In Classic, the inner part of Maraudon, around Earth Song Falls and the caverns, held herb nodes that were the main reason gatherers came here, Ghost Mushroom above all, because it only grows underground. We have not run a Forever herb route, so treat the node list as the Classic pattern.

Our profession extract (build 70124) shows which recipes buy each herb, and it explains the prices better than any route map.

Purple Lotus23 (Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Herbalism, Tailoring)128549 silver
Sungrass14 (Alchemy, Enchanting, Cooking, First Aid)824none

Purple Lotus is the standout. It is used by more than twice as many recipes as Ghost Mushroom or Blindweed, and twelve of its 23 recipes are new in Forever. Eight of those new ones are a Blacksmithing armour line, the Sentinel's set, which takes two to ten Purple Lotus per piece; the Sentinel's Waistguard alone takes ten. The client also uses Purple Lotus in a new Herbalism camp object, the Greenhouse. That is a demand source Classic never had, and it is why Purple Lotus is the herb we would hold through launch.

Ghost Mushroom is a narrow Alchemy herb. Its recipes include the Invisibility Potion, Limited Invulnerability Potion and Elixir of Shadow Power, plus three new ones: Disorienting Smog Potion, Caustic Smog Potion and Elixir of Ferocity. Blindweed feeds Superior Mana Potion, Arcane Elixir, Gift of Arthas and four new Forever recipes, including Greater Mageblood Elixir and Elixir of the Grizzly.

The ore: Mithril, Truesilver and the smelting question

Classic Maraudon also had ore veins, mostly Mithril with Truesilver and Gold mixed in. Again, that is the Classic layout; the Forever node list is not walked yet.

Smelt Truesilver1 ore to 1 bar23022 silver14 copper19 silver40 copper2 silver74 copper loss

Smelting Mithril added about a silver per bar before the Auction House cut, which is close to nothing. Smelting Truesilver lost almost three silver per bar. So the rule on the beta was simple: sell Truesilver as ore, and only smelt Mithril if you need the skill.

The bars are where the long-term demand lives, though. The extract lists 92 recipes that use Mithril Bar (54 Blacksmithing, 37 Engineering, one Alchemy), 21 of them new, and if each were made once they would eat 921 bars. Truesilver Bar shows up in 50 recipes, nine new. That kind of recipe depth usually means bar prices climb once crafters reach the level to use them, which on the beta has not happened yet.

Elementals and gems

Maraudon's earth elementals were a Classic source of Elemental Earth, which the beta scans had at 19 silver72 copper. The extract shows 33 recipes using it, 15 of them new, led by Leatherworking with 12. Mining nodes in this level band also yielded gems in Classic; on 2026-10-08 Citrine sold for 35 silver and Aquamarine for 1 gold. Aquamarine at 1 gold was worth more than eighteen Mithril Ore, which is why miners never vendor gems.

A Maraudon gathering session, step by step

  1. Go at level 45 or higher. The client tunes the instance to 42; a few levels of margin lets a gatherer move without pulling everything.
  2. Take Herbalism and Mining on the same character if you can. The Classic routes mixed herb and ore nodes in the same caverns.
  3. Pick up every Purple Lotus. It has the widest demand of anything in the dungeon.
  4. Sell Blindweed when it lists above its recent low. Its nine Alchemy recipes give it steady but narrow demand.
  5. Hold Ghost Mushroom until there is a market. On 2026-10-08 there was none, so the first seller sets the price.
  6. Sell Truesilver as ore. Smelt Mithril only when the bar clearly clears the ore plus the cut.
  7. Vendor the soulbound boss gear you do not need. Theradras' Scepter alone is 4 gold48 silver at a vendor.

Level band and access

Your levelWhat Maraudon gives you
Below 40Too high for a gathering run; the elite packs will catch you
42 to 48The intended band: group runs, soulbound upgrades, herbs on the way
50 and upSolo gathering becomes realistic in the Classic layout

On the beta, none of these bands are reachable yet. At launch, Desolace becomes busy in the forties, and Maraudon herbs will be one of the first high level herb supplies to hit the market.

Sell, hold or craft

Every Maraudon material lands in one of three piles, and the right pile depends on who you are.

MaterialPure gathererAlchemistBlacksmith or Engineer
Purple LotusHold through launchUse for Philosopher's Stone and Dreamless SleepHold for the Sentinel's set
Ghost MushroomList first, set the priceKeep for Invisibility and Limited InvulnerabilitySell
BlindweedSell on a good dayKeep for Superior Mana PotionSell
Mithril OreHoldSellSmelt for your own recipes
Truesilver OreSell as oreSellSmelt only for your own crafts

If you only gather, your job is timing. The herbs with the deepest recipe lists, Purple Lotus above all, are the ones to keep in the bank, because their buyers have not arrived yet. The narrow herbs are better sold whenever the price is fair, since their demand is steady rather than growing.

If you are an alchemist, Maraudon is your private supply. Superior Mana Potion takes two Blindweed per craft, Limited Invulnerability Potion takes one Ghost Mushroom and two Blindweed, and Dreamless Sleep Potion takes three Purple Lotus. Buying those herbs on the open market at launch will cost more than picking them yourself.

If you craft metal, think of Mithril as stored skill points. Ninety-two recipes want Mithril Bars, and every bar you smelt from your own ore is one you do not have to buy from a miner who has read the same recipe list you have.

What to watch on the Auction House

  • Purple Lotus against the Sentinel's set. If Blacksmiths start levelling through the new Sentinel's recipes, Purple Lotus demand jumps.
  • The first Ghost Mushroom listings. No supply on 2026-10-08 means no price. The first listings will be high; the floor forms only once a few gatherers arrive.
  • The Mithril bar gap. Today a bar is worth about one ore. Watch for the gap to widen as Engineers reach Mithril recipes.
  • Truesilver. Ore above bar is a sign of scarcity. When bars overtake ore, smelt.

Is Maraudon worth farming?

For a gatherer, yes, once you can reach it. It concentrates the herbs Alchemy needs, Purple Lotus has new demand in Forever, and the ore feeds two crafting trees with nearly 150 recipes between them. For a group chasing boss loot, Maraudon pays in soulbound upgrades and vendor silver only. Nobody has walked a Forever route yet, so we give no rate here, only the inputs: what grows, what it sells for and who buys it.

How this guide was written

Prices on this page are read live from TheWoWDB Auction House tables when the page loads. Item names, icons, zones and art come from our own datamine of the game client. We do not publish gold-per-hour numbers for any route nobody has walked and timed, so where a rate would go this page says so. WoW Forever is in beta: every fact here is labelled with the client build it was read from and can change before launch. Read the full method or the about page.
