Scarlet Monastery in WoW Forever: What the Wings Drop for Gold

Scarlet Monastery on the WoW Forever beta wing by wing: the client's encounter list, which drops trade, the Scarlet armour set, Silk and Mageweave math and beta prices.

Updated · By Christopher Lucas · WoW Forever beta, as of beta build 70291

The short answer

Scarlet Monastery is where WoW Forever characters stop running starter dungeons and start running a real loot table, but most of that table is soulbound. The tradeable value sits in three places: the Scarlet armour set (five of its six pieces are Bind on Equip in the Classic Era client), the Silk and Mageweave the Scarlet humans drop, and the enchanting materials you get by disenchanting what you cannot sell. On 2026-10-08 the beta scans had Silk Cloth at 3 silver67 copper and Mageweave Cloth at 30 silver45 copper. One number decides how you treat your cloth: five Mageweave sold for more than one Bolt of Mageweave, so tailors should not be converting it. The famous wing weapons and Whitemane's hat are upgrades, not income.

What the client says about Scarlet Monastery

The beta client has one map for the whole monastery, map 189 (folder MonasteryInstances), with a ten-player cap in its map row. The dungeon finder table has a single Scarlet Monastery entry (id 17), not four separate wings, and it points at a content tuning row set to level 30 in build 70291. That single level is a change of feel from Classic, where each wing had its own recommended range.

The encounter table lists seven bosses on map 189. We grouped them by wing using the Classic layout, which the client itself does not label:

OrderEncounterWing (Classic layout)
1Interrogator VishasGraveyard
2Bloodmage ThalnosGraveyard
3Houndmaster LokseyLibrary
4Arcanist DoanLibrary
5HerodArmory
6High Inquisitor FairbanksCathedral
7High Inquisitor WhitemaneCathedral

Scarlet Commander Mograine has no encounter row of his own, but the client does add two new statistics, "Scarlet Commander Mograine kills (Scarlet Monastery)" and "High Inquisitor Whitemane kills (Scarlet Monastery)". The encounter list matches the Era client exactly; Forever has not added a boss here the way it added Miner Johnson to the Deadmines.

The binding check: what each wing can actually sell

We checked the binding flag on the named boss drops in the Classic Era client. The Forever client carries rows for these items but leaves names and binding to the server, so the Era rule is the best evidence we have until server data is readable.

Every one of the ten named boss drops we checked is Bind on Pickup. That is the single most useful fact on this page: in Scarlet Monastery the bosses pay you in upgrades and vendor silver, never in Auction House gold. Ravager and Mograine's Might are the best vendor items in the dungeon at 1 gold89 silver and 2 gold25 silver, which is worth knowing when your bags fill up on a twink you are not gearing.

The Scarlet set: the one tradeable armour line

The Scarlet humans who patrol the monastery drop a mail armour set, and it is the real Auction House product of this dungeon. In the Classic Era client five of its six pieces are Bind on Equip.

Scarlet Chestpiece34Equip69 silver92 coppernot listed

The lone Wristguards listing at 100 gold is not a price, it is a wish. One listing on one beta house, for a green with a vendor value of 23 silver14 copper, tells you only that someone hoped. The honest reading is that no Scarlet piece had a real beta market yet on 2026-10-08, because almost nobody had reached level 30. In Classic the set sold to mail wearers levelling through their thirties and to transmog collectors later; we will price it properly once the beta cap reaches 30 and the shelf fills.

New in the Forever client

Two Scarlet-flavoured items are named in the beta client and do not exist in Classic Era:

  • Whitemane's Plateau: an uncommon item at item level 59, Bind on Pickup, with a vendor value of 1 gold53 silver. The client does not say where it comes from, and the binding means you will never sell it on the Auction House, only to a vendor.
  • Arcanist Doan's Silver Coin: a grey item with no binding that vendors for 3 copper. It is junk with a story attached, and it is the kind of thing collectors sometimes overpay for in the first week. It had no beta listing on 2026-10-08.

Cloth: Silk, Mageweave and the bolt trap

The Scarlet Crusade humans drop cloth, and it is the part of every run you can count on. In Classic the monastery's level range sat right on the Silk to Mageweave changeover, which is why tailors loved it. We have not logged a Forever run, so these are not beta drop rates, only prices.

Our profession extract (build 70124) says a Bolt of Silk Cloth takes four Silk Cloth and a Bolt of Mageweave takes five Mageweave Cloth. Here is what that meant on 2026-10-08:

BoltCloth inCloth costBolt priceGap before the Auction House cut
Bolt of Silk Cloth4 Silk13 silver56 copper14 silver85 copper1 silver29 copper profit
Bolt of Mageweave5 Mageweave1 gold25 silver75 silver50 copper49 silver50 copper loss

This is the analysis the page is built around. Silk bolts made a small profit, about a silver per bolt. Mageweave bolts lost almost half a gold each: five Mageweave at 30 silver45 copper were worth far more raw than the bolt they made. The likely reason is supply: the scans showed about 250 Mageweave listed against roughly 400 bolts, so tailors who levelled early dumped bolts while raw Mageweave stayed scarce.

What to do with it:

  1. Sell Mageweave raw while five pieces are worth more than one bolt.
  2. Make Silk bolts only if you are a tailor who needs the skill, and only while the bolt stays above four Silk plus the cut.
  3. Recheck both lines after the beta cap reaches 30, when a wave of players will be farming exactly this level of cloth.

Disenchanting what you cannot sell

Because every named boss drop is soulbound, an enchanter in the group turns that loot into something tradeable. In Classic, greens and blues in this item level range broke into Soul Dust, Astral Essences and Glimmering Shards. The beta scans priced those results:

Live Auction House prices
Soul Dust5 silver50 copper2 houses listing
Greater Astral Essence27 silver78 copper2 houses listing
Large Glimmering Shard71 silver95 copper2 houses listing

Lowest buyout from player scans of the WoW Forever beta Auction House, as of beta build 70291. Beta prices are a testing economy and will not carry over to launch. Last verified

On 2026-10-08 Large Glimmering Shard sold for 71 silver95 copper and Greater Astral Essence for 27 silver78 copper, both well above what most Scarlet greens vendor for. If your group has an enchanter, the soulbound blues you do not need are worth more as shards than as vendor silver. We have not verified the Forever disenchant tables item by item, so treat the exact results as the Classic pattern.

Wing by wing: what to run and why

Requirements
Wing
Graveyard
Level
Low thirties in Classic; the whole instance is tuned to 30 in Forever
Value
Cloth and trash only; both bosses drop soulbound gear

The Graveyard is the shortest wing and the least valuable. Its undead give little cloth. Run it for quests, not gold.

Requirements
Wing
Library
Level
Low to mid thirties in Classic
Value
Human cloth, Scarlet set drops from the patrols, Doan's soulbound gear

The Library is the first wing full of Scarlet humans, so it is the first real cloth and Scarlet-set wing.

Requirements
Wing
Armory
Level
Mid thirties in Classic
Value
Dense human packs, Herod's soulbound weapons and shoulder, best cloth density of the four

The Armory is the best pure cloth wing in the Classic layout: a straight corridor of humans ending at Herod.

Requirements
Wing
Cathedral
Level
High thirties in Classic
Value
Cloth, Scarlet set, the best vendor items in Mograine's Might and the Aegis

The Cathedral has the highest level humans and the most valuable vendor drops, but it needs the Scarlet Key and a group that can handle the courtyard.

Step by step: a Scarlet Monastery gold session

  1. Wait for the beta cap to reach 30, or go at launch. Running a level 30 dungeon at 20 is a wipe, not a farm.
  2. Bring an enchanter if you can. Soulbound loot is the bulk of what drops.
  3. Prioritise the Armory and Cathedral for cloth and Scarlet set pieces.
  4. Loot every Scarlet human. Cloth and set pieces both come from trash.
  5. Sell Silk raw unless you are a levelling tailor; sell Mageweave raw, full stop, while the bolt trades below five cloth.
  6. List Scarlet set pieces only after checking the shelf. If the lowest listing is a single absurd price, price against vendor value plus a reasonable margin instead.
  7. Vendor Ravager, Mograine's Might and the Aegis if nobody needs them; they are among the best vendor values in the instance.
Walked route status

Scarlet Monastery, all four wings

Not walked yet

No hourly gold figure is published here until this route has been walked end to end with a timer and a full loot log. Until then this page gives you the inputs (live prices and what drops) and leaves the arithmetic to you.

What to watch on the Auction House

  • The Mageweave gap. The bolt trading below five cloth is the oddest number on this page. It will close; when the bolt is worth more than five Mageweave plus the cut, tailors can convert again.
  • First real Scarlet set listings. The moment the cap hits 30 the set gets a real market. Watch the Chestpiece and Boots.
  • Shard prices. Large Glimmering Shards were the most valuable disenchant result we saw in this band. If they fall, so does the value of bringing an enchanter.
  • Launch week. Both factions converge on Tirisfal for this dungeon. Cloth and Scarlet set pieces will flood, and the best prices go to whoever lists first.

Is Scarlet Monastery worth farming?

As a money run, it is a cloth and set-piece farm with excellent upgrades on the side. The bosses never pay Auction House gold, the cloth always does, and the Scarlet set might once there are buyers. On the beta, nobody has walked a timed route yet, so we print no rate. The inputs are all above: what the cloth sells for, which pieces trade, and why Mageweave stays raw.

Changelog

  • 2026-10-08: First version. Map, encounter, statistic, dungeon finder and content tuning rows from beta build 70291; item bindings from the Classic Era client; bolt recipes from our beta profession extract (build 70124); prices from player scans of the beta Auction House on 2026-10-08.

How this guide was written

Prices on this page are read live from TheWoWDB Auction House tables when the page loads. Item names, icons, zones and art come from our own datamine of the game client. We do not publish gold-per-hour numbers for any route nobody has walked and timed, so where a rate would go this page says so. WoW Forever is in beta: every fact here is labelled with the client build it was read from and can change before launch. Read the full method or the about page.
