Mageroyal, Briarthorn and Bruiseweed in WoW Forever
Mageroyal, Briarthorn and Bruiseweed priced from WoW Forever beta scans, the 28 recipes that use them, the new elixirs, and which herb to sell first.
Lowest buyout from player scans of the WoW Forever beta Auction House, as of beta build 70291. Beta prices are a testing economy and will not carry over to launch. Last verified
The short answer
Mageroyal, Briarthorn and Bruiseweed are the second rung of the herb ladder in WoW Forever, and on the beta they already behave very differently from each other. The latest player scans put Mageroyal at 35 copper, Briarthorn at 1 silver17 copper and Bruiseweed at 2 silver. Briarthorn is the money herb of the three on the beta, Mageroyal is the one with the most new recipes, and Bruiseweed sits in between. If you only have time to farm one, farm Briarthorn and sell it raw. If you level Alchemy yourself, keep your Mageroyal, because the new Forever elixirs want two at a time.
What the client says
The Forever client lists Mageroyal with a vendor price of 20 copper, and Briarthorn and Bruiseweed at 25 copper each. All three are common herbs. Swiftthistle, which in Classic was a bonus herb you sometimes got from Mageroyal and Briarthorn nodes, vendors for 15 copper and scanned at 2 silver18 copper; we include it because three of the recipes below need it.
Here is the recipe count from our extract. Every number is a count of distinct recipes in the beta tables, not a guess.
| Herb | Recipes using it | New in Forever | Professions | Units if each recipe is crafted once |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mageroyal | 12 | 7 | Alchemy 11, Cooking 1 | 20 |
| Briarthorn | 8 | 4 | Alchemy 7, First Aid 1 | 11 |
| Bruiseweed | 8 | 4 | Alchemy 7, First Aid 1 | 9 |
| Swiftthistle | 8 | 1 | Alchemy 6, Cooking 1, Enchanting 1 | 27 |
Two things stand out. Mageroyal gained the most: seven new recipes, and most of them take two Mageroyal per craft. And Swiftthistle's unit total is inflated by one recipe, Enchanting's Speedstone at skill 320 to 360, which asks for twenty Swiftthistle alongside six Nexus Crystals. Our build 70124 extract does not resolve what that recipe makes, so treat it as unconfirmed. If it goes live as written, it could make a cheap bonus herb surprisingly wanted late in the game.
The Mageroyal recipes
Mageroyal is the herb Forever changed most. In Classic it fed a handful of mana and rejuvenation potions. In the beta client it also feeds a new line of minor elixirs in the 30 to 75 skill band, which is exactly where most alchemists will be in the first week.
| Recipe | Skill range | Reagents | Bill on 2026-10-08 | Product scan |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minor Mageblood Elixir (new) | 30 to 35 | 2 Mageroyal, 1 Empty Vial | 1 silver39 copper | 3 silver42 copper |
| Minor Mender's Potion (new) | 35 to 40 | 2 Mageroyal, 1 Bruiseweed, 1 Empty Vial | 3 silver28 copper | 7 silver99 copper |
| Minor Cleric's Elixir (new) | 50 to 55 | 2 Mageroyal, 1 Bruiseweed, 1 Empty Vial | 3 silver28 copper | 4 silver98 copper |
| Minor Mana Potion | 65 to 105 | 1 Mageroyal, 1 Peacebloom, 1 Empty Vial | 1 silver7 copper | 80 copper |
| Elixir of Lesser Spirit (new) | 70 to 75 | 2 Wild Steelbloom, 1 Mageroyal, 1 Empty Vial | 10 silver77 copper | 19 silver85 copper |
| Lesser Spellblasting Potion (new) | 90 to 95 | 1 Mageroyal, 2 Silverleaf, 1 Empty Vial | 1 silver5 copper | 3 silver80 copper |
| Elixir of Wisdom | 120 to 160 | 1 Mageroyal, 2 Briarthorn, 1 Empty Vial | 8 silver67 copper | 1 silver10 copper |
| Lesser Mana Potion | 145 to 185 | 1 Mageroyal, 1 Stranglekelp, 1 Empty Vial | 3 silver52 copper | 3 silver98 copper |
The extract also lists Minor Rejuvenation Potion (70 to 110, two Mageroyal), Minor Magic Resistance Potion (135 to 175, three Mageroyal and a Wild Steelbloom), the new Draught of Tongues (100 to 140, two Mageroyal and two Earthroot, though our build 70124 extract does not resolve its product item) and a new Cooking recipe, Royal Tea, at 85 to 125, which takes two Mageroyal and an Ice Cold Milk. Lesser Mana Potion is the bridge into the next herb tier: it pairs Mageroyal with
Stranglekelp, which scanned at 2 silver95 copper, and on 2026-10-08 the potion sold for almost exactly its bill. That is the usual sign of a recipe people make for the skill point and dump on the market afterward.
Briarthorn and Bruiseweed recipes
Briarthorn and Bruiseweed share a lot of their demand with each other. Both feed the Troll's Blood line and both gained a First Aid healing potion in the Forever tables.
| Recipe | Profession | Skill range | Herb cost per craft | Product scan |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lesser Healing Potion (new placement) | First Aid | 85 to 125 | 1 Briarthorn | 20 copper |
| Lesser Discolored Healing Potion (new) | Alchemy | 85 to 125 | 1 Briarthorn, plus a Murloc Eye | 2 silver |
| Swiftness Potion | Alchemy | 90 to 130 | 1 Briarthorn, 1 Swiftthistle | 4 silver |
| Rage Potion | Alchemy | 90 to 130 | 1 Briarthorn, plus a Sharp Claw | 1 silver50 copper |
| Lesser Frenzy Potion (new) | Alchemy | 95 to 100 | 1 Briarthorn, 2 Earthroot | 6 silver99 copper |
| Holy Protection Potion | Alchemy | 130 to 170 | 1 Bruiseweed, 1 Swiftthistle | 62 copper |
| Discolored Healing Potion (new) | Alchemy | 135 to 175 | 1 Bruiseweed, plus a Murloc Eye | 11 silver95 copper |
| Healing Potion (new placement) | First Aid | 135 to 175 | 1 Bruiseweed | 3 silver11 copper |
| Frenzy Potion (new) | Alchemy | 145 to 150 | 2 Briarthorn, 2 Fadeleaf | 25 silver |
| Lesser Troll's Blood Elixir | Alchemy | 150 to 190 | 2 Briarthorn, 2 Bruiseweed | 4 silver50 copper |
| Troll's Blood Elixir | Alchemy | 200 to 240 | 1 Bruiseweed, 1 Liferoot | 18 silver91 copper |
As with Minor Healing Potion on the starter herb page, the Forever tables file Lesser Healing Potion and Healing Potion under First Aid. In Classic both belonged to Alchemy. If that holds at launch, every character with First Aid becomes a buyer of Briarthorn and Bruiseweed, which is a much bigger pool than alchemists alone.
The table also shows where the herbs lose money. Lesser Troll's Blood Elixir needs two Briarthorn and two Bruiseweed plus a Leaded Vial, a bill of 12 silver37 copper on 2026-10-08, and the elixir scanned at 4 silver50 copper. Elixir of Wisdom was the same story: a bill of 8 silver67 copper against a scan of 1 silver10 copper. With beta herb prices where they are, those are recipes you craft only for the skill point. Lesser Frenzy Potion went the other way, with a bill of 4 silver64 copper and a scan of 6 silver99 copper, the best spread for Briarthorn in the whole list. Frenzy Potion, its bigger sibling, also scanned well above its 23 silver25 copper bill. The new Frenzy line is where an alchemist with spare Briarthorn should look first.
Our analysis: why Briarthorn costs the most
Here is a number we built ourselves. Divide each herb's beta scan by its vendor price and you get a rough measure of how hard players are chasing it relative to what the game thinks it is worth.
| Herb | Vendor price | Scan on 2026-10-08 | Scan divided by vendor |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mageroyal | 20 copper | 62 copper | 3.1 |
| Bruiseweed | 25 copper | 1 silver89 copper | 7.6 |
| Briarthorn | 25 copper | 3 silver95 copper | 15.8 |
Mageroyal has the most recipes but the lowest premium. Briarthorn has fewer recipes but a premium five times higher. Our read: on the beta the level cap started at 20 and rises to 30, and in Classic, Briarthorn and Bruiseweed grew in zones from the high teens into the twenties, so fewer testers have reached the nodes. Mageroyal grew in the same early zones as Silverleaf in Classic, so supply is easy. That is a supply story, not a demand story, and it will flatten once launch characters pass level 30. Do not plan a launch strategy around the beta premium on Briarthorn.
The second number is the share of a recipe's bill that one herb carries. Minor Mageblood Elixir, the first new Mageroyal recipe, cost 1 silver39 copper to make on 2026-10-08, and two Mageroyal at 62 copper each were 1 silver24 copper of that, about 89 percent. Minor Mender's Potion cost 3 silver28 copper, and its single Bruiseweed was 1 silver89 copper, about 58 percent, even though it uses twice as much Mageroyal. Whoever controls Bruiseweed controls the price of the new mender line more than whoever controls Mageroyal.
Which herb to sell first
- Sell Briarthorn while the premium lasts. On the beta it is the most expensive of the three relative to vendor. Post it in full stacks; buyers are alchemists and First Aid levellers chasing the 85 to 150 band.
- Keep Mageroyal if you level Alchemy. The new elixirs at 30 to 75 each take two, so a levelling alchemist burns through Mageroyal faster than any other herb in that band.
- Watch Bruiseweed against Briarthorn. Lesser Troll's Blood Elixir takes two of each. If one herb runs much cheaper than the other, alchemists switch to the recipes that use the cheap one, and the gap closes. Sell whichever is ahead.
- Never vendor Swiftthistle. It scanned well above its 15 copper vendor price, and if Speedstone ships as listed, late-game enchanters will want it in twenties.
- Hold a few stacks through launch week. All three herbs share a demand spike when thousands of new alchemists hit skill 30 to 150 at the same time. That spike is worth waiting for.
Where they grow
The beta client ships maps for the zones below. In Classic Era, Mageroyal and Briarthorn grew through the level 10 to 25 zones of both continents, and Bruiseweed in the same band a little later: Darkshore, Silverpine Forest, Westfall, Loch Modan, Redridge Mountains, the Barrens and the edges of Ashenvale and Hillsbrad. We have not logged a Forever herb session yet, so treat this as a starting list, not a node map.

Darkshore: Kalimdor, Zone ID 148

Darkshore is long and thin, which spreads herbalists out and makes it a forgiving zone to learn in. The coastline and the hills behind it were where Classic herbalists looked first.

Silverpine Forest: Eastern Kingdoms, Zone ID 130

Silverpine is the Horde counterpart, close to the Undercity and the obvious next step from Tirisfal.

Westfall, Loch Modan and Redridge round out the Eastern Kingdoms options for Alliance players, and the Barrens is the big Horde zone in Kalimdor for this band. Forever also adds the Riverglades, a new mid-level zone that Blizzard describes as roughly the size of Stranglethorn Vale with nearly 200 quests. Its subzones in the client start at explore level 36, so it is above this herb tier; see our Riverglades guide.

What to watch on the Auction House
- The Briarthorn premium. When it starts falling toward Bruiseweed, beta testers have caught up to the level band. At launch the same thing will happen faster.
- Healing potions under First Aid. If players start posting Lesser Healing Potion and Healing Potion from First Aid, herb demand broadens beyond alchemists.
- Minor Mageblood Elixir listings. It is the first new Mageroyal product. If it sells, Mageroyal will climb out of the cheap tier.
Is it worth your time?
On the beta, as practice, yes: the scans already show which of the new recipes players craft, and Briarthorn is worth picking every time you see it. As a launch plan, the lesson is about timing. All three herbs are mostly a launch-week market, driven by thousands of alchemists levelling through the same skill band at once. Gather early, sell into that rush, and do not expect beta premiums to survive the first month.
No route has been walked or timed, so there is no hourly figure on this page, only the prices and the recipes that set them.

How this guide was written
Prices on this page are read live from TheWoWDB Auction House tables when the page loads. Item names, icons, zones and art come from our own datamine of the game client. We do not publish gold-per-hour numbers for any route nobody has walked and timed, so where a rate would go this page says so. WoW Forever is in beta: every fact here is labelled with the client build it was read from and can change before launch. Read the full method or the about page.
