Black Lotus in WoW Forever: Price, Recipes and the Flask Bottleneck
Black Lotus in WoW Forever: the beta-scan price, all nine recipes that need it, why one lotus gates every Classic flask, and how to sell it at launch.
Lowest buyout from player scans of the WoW Forever beta Auction House, as of beta build 70291. Beta prices are a testing economy and will not carry over to launch. Last verified
The short answer
Black Lotus is the most famous rare herb in WoW Forever, as it was in Classic, and the Forever client did not add or remove a single recipe for it. On the beta the latest player scans show Black Lotus at …, from a single listing, at a level cap where nobody should be able to pick it. That number tells you nothing about launch. What does matter: every one of the five Classic flasks needs exactly one Black Lotus, along with forty other herbs. One lotus is less than three percent of the herbs in a flask, but there is no Classic flask without it. That is the bottleneck, and it is why Black Lotus should be one of the most expensive herbs on every realm once raiding starts. Forever does add a rival: four new flasks built on a new Death Lotus, covered below.
What the client says
The Forever beta client lists Black Lotus as an uncommon herb with a vendor price of 10 silver. It appears in nine recipes, all of which existed in Classic Era. Our extract marks none of them as new to Forever.
| Recipe | Profession | Skill range | Black Lotus | Other reagents |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flask of the Titans | Alchemy | 315 to 330 | 1 | 30 Gromsblood, 10 Stonescale Oil, 1 Crystal Vial |
| Flask of Supreme Power | Alchemy | 315 to 330 | 1 | 30 Dreamfoil, 10 Mountain Silversage, 1 Crystal Vial |
| Flask of Distilled Wisdom | Alchemy | 315 to 330 | 1 | 30 Dreamfoil, 10 Icecap, 1 Crystal Vial |
| Flask of Chromatic Resistance | Alchemy | 315 to 330 | 1 | 30 Icecap, 10 Mountain Silversage, 1 Crystal Vial |
| Flask of Petrification | Alchemy | 315 to 330 | 1 | 30 Stonescale Oil, 10 Mountain Silversage, 1 Crystal Vial |
| Alchemist's Stone | Alchemy | 315 to 330 | 4 | 8 each of Essence of Fire, Earth, Air and Water, 8 Living Essence, 2 Black Vitriol |
| Gurubashi Mojo Madness | Alchemy | 315 to 330 | 1 | 1 Blood of Heroes, 1 Massive Mojo, 6 Powerful Mojo |
| Satchel of Cenarius | Tailoring | 270 to 300 | 1 | 6 Bolt of Runecloth, 2 Mooncloth, 4 Ironweb Spider Silk |
| Enchant Cloak: Stealth | Enchanting | 320 to 360 | 2 | 3 Nexus Crystal, 8 Large Brilliant Shard |
Crafting each recipe once takes thirteen Black Lotus: ten for the seven Alchemy recipes (the Alchemist's Stone alone eats four), two for the Stealth cloak enchant and one for the Satchel of Cenarius. Alchemy is the main buyer by a wide margin, and within Alchemy the five flasks are the recipes people craft again and again. The Alchemist's Stone and the Satchel are one-off crafts; flasks are consumed every raid night.
The flask bottleneck in numbers
Here is the arithmetic that explains Black Lotus prices, built entirely from the client recipes.
| Flask | Herbs and oils in the recipe | Black Lotus share of the herb count |
|---|---|---|
| Flask of the Titans | 30 Gromsblood, 10 Stonescale Oil, 1 Black Lotus (41) | 2.4 percent |
| Flask of Supreme Power | 30 Dreamfoil, 10 Mountain Silversage, 1 Black Lotus (41) | 2.4 percent |
| Flask of Distilled Wisdom | 30 Dreamfoil, 10 Icecap, 1 Black Lotus (41) | 2.4 percent |
| Flask of Chromatic Resistance | 30 Icecap, 10 Mountain Silversage, 1 Black Lotus (41) | 2.4 percent |
| Flask of Petrification | 30 Stonescale Oil, 10 Mountain Silversage, 1 Black Lotus (41) | 2.4 percent |
Every flask uses forty common or semi-common inputs and one lotus. Now think about supply. A herbalist working the high-level zones picks Dreamfoil, Icecap and Silversage all day. In Classic, Black Lotus spawned rarely and in a few zones only. So a realm can produce forty Dreamfoil for every lotus easily, but not the other way round. The forty other herbs set a floor under the flask price; the one lotus sets the ceiling on how many flasks exist at all.
Vendor prices make the same point in a different way. The client values the herbs in a Flask of Supreme Power at 45 silver (thirty Dreamfoil at 1 silver and ten Mountain Silversage at 1 silver50 copper), the Crystal Vial at 1 silver25 copper, and the single Black Lotus at 10 silver. Even by the game's own vendor values, the lotus is about eighteen percent of the flask from one item out of forty-two. On a live market that share rises a long way, because the forty other inputs are easy to find and the lotus is not.
The herbalist's real income: the other forty herbs
Here is the part most lotus hunters miss. A herbalist who goes looking for Black Lotus spends almost all of their time picking something else. Every flask needs thirty of one herb and ten of another, so the flask market pulls far more Dreamfoil, Icecap, Mountain Silversage and Gromsblood than it pulls lotus. Run the five flasks once each and you need 60 Dreamfoil, 40 Icecap, 30 Mountain Silversage, 30 Gromsblood and 40 Stonescale Oil, against just five Black Lotus.
That ratio changes how to plan a night of herbing. If you treat the lotus as the only goal, most trips end empty. If you treat the partner herbs as the income and the lotus as the bonus, every trip pays something, and the occasional lotus turns a normal night into a very good one. The partner herbs also have uses outside flasks, from Greater Arcane Elixirs to the new Herbalism Seed Hybridizer, which takes four Mountain Silversage at skill 300.
The non-flask recipes
Three Black Lotus recipes sit outside the flask line, and each tells you something about the buyer.
- Alchemist's Stone takes four Black Lotus plus eight of each elemental essence, eight Living Essence and two Black Vitriol. It is a trinket an alchemist makes once for themselves, which means it creates a burst of lotus demand from every alchemist who reaches 315, then stops.
- Enchant Cloak: Stealth takes two lotuses with Nexus Crystals and Large Brilliant Shards. Rogues and druids pay for it; it is a niche, steady buyer.
- Satchel of Cenarius is a Tailoring bag that takes one lotus with Runecloth, Mooncloth and Ironweb Spider Silk. It is a one-off for herbalists who want a bigger herb bag.
New in Forever: the Death Lotus flasks
The Forever client did not change any Black Lotus recipe, but it did add a rival. Our extract lists four new Alchemy flasks at skill 320 to 330, each built on a new herb called
Death Lotus instead of Black Lotus.
| New flask | Death Lotus | Other reagents |
|---|---|---|
| Flask of Natural Accuracy | 1 | 12 Demonsage, 9 Golden Sansam, 1 Imbued Vial |
| Flask of Natural Aggression | 1 | 18 Demonsage, 6 Mountain Silversage, 1 Imbued Vial |
| Flask of Natural Precision | 1 | 12 Marefoil, 9 Dreamfoil, 1 Imbued Vial |
| Flask of Natural Swiftness | 1 | 18 Marefoil, 6 Icecap, 1 Imbued Vial |
The pattern is the same as the Classic flasks, one rare lotus plus a large pile of other herbs, but the pile is smaller: twenty-one or twenty-four herbs instead of forty, and two of the herbs (Demonsage and Marefoil) are new. Death Lotus vendors for 15 silver in the client, more than Black Lotus, and it also appears in a new Blacksmithing glaive, two new Enchanting recipes and two new Engineering items. We do not know where it grows yet. Our Mount Hyjal guide covers the new herbs.
What this means for Black Lotus: the old flasks still need it, and nothing in the client replaces Flask of the Titans or Supreme Power. But raiders will have a second family of flasks to choose from, and that could soften Black Lotus demand once Death Lotus reaches the market.
Beta prices around the lotus
Here is what the beta Auction House showed on 2026-10-08 for the flask ingredients. Most high-level herbs had no listings at all, which is what you would expect at a level cap of 20 to 30.
| Item | Vendor price (client) | Latest beta scan |
|---|---|---|
| Black Lotus | 10 silver | … |
| Dreamfoil | 1 silver | 29 gold99 silver |
| Mountain Silversage | 1 silver50 copper | 4 gold |
| Icecap | 2 silver50 copper | … |
| Gromsblood | 2 silver50 copper | 15 silver |
| Crystal Vial | 1 silver25 copper | 5 silver |
Where a scan exists, it comes from one listing. Someone on the beta is testing prices, not trading. Use the strip for curiosity and use the recipe math for planning.
Vendor caps and spawn claims
You will see claims that Black Lotus has a daily cap or that it spawns on a fixed timer. Our extract of the Forever client does not contain spawn or cap data for herbs, so we cannot confirm any of that for Forever. In Classic Era, Black Lotus spawned at a small number of points in Winterspring, the Eastern Plaguelands, the Burning Steppes and Silithus, and those points were heavily camped on busy realms. If Forever moves or changes those spawns, this page will say so once we see it in game data or log it ourselves.
How to sell Black Lotus at launch
- Do not sell the first lotus cheap. In the first weeks after launch, few characters will be in Black Lotus zones and fewer will have Herbalism high enough. The first listings set the price.
- Sell to raiders, not the market, when you can. Guilds that run Molten Core need flasks for their raiders, and Blizzard sets Forever after the events of Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core. When raiding opens, guild alchemists will look for lotus directly.
- Compare against the flask. If one flask sells for much more than its forty common herbs plus one lotus at market, the lotus is underpriced. Raise your price.
- Hold through quiet weeks. No recipe in the client substitutes for Black Lotus in the Classic flasks. The price moves with raid schedules, so a lotus held for a week rarely loses value.
- Never vendor it. The client pays 10 silver. Any market will pay more.
Where Black Lotus grew in Classic
The beta client does not ship maps for these zones yet, so the banners below show continent art. Everything in this section is Classic Era geography. None of it has been checked on the Forever beta.

Winterspring: Kalimdor, Zone ID 618
Winterspring was the most famous Black Lotus zone in Classic, along with the Eastern Plaguelands.

Eastern Plaguelands: Eastern Kingdoms, Zone ID 139

Burning Steppes: Eastern Kingdoms, Zone ID 46
The Burning Steppes and Silithus had their own spawn points, usually guarded by elite or high-level monsters.

Silithus: Kalimdor, Zone ID 1377
- Level
- 55 to 60 (the beta cap is 20 to 30, so this waits for launch)
- Profession

Not walked yet
No hourly gold figure is published here until this route has been walked end to end with a timer and a full loot log. Until then this page gives you the inputs (live prices and what drops) and leaves the arithmetic to you.
What to watch on the Auction House
- Flask listings versus lotus listings. When flasks appear and lotus disappears, alchemists are buying every lotus they see.
- Raid announcements. Black Lotus prices follow raid schedules more than anything else.
- Death Lotus flasks. The new Natural flasks are the first real alternative to Black Lotus flasks. If Death Lotus turns out to be common, the Black Lotus bottleneck loosens; if it is as rare as Black Lotus, there are simply two bottlenecks.
Is it worth your time?
On the beta, no: you cannot reach it, and the one listing is a test. At launch, Black Lotus is the most reliable expensive herb in the game, because one lotus gates every Classic flask and no recipe swaps it out. A herbalist who knows where to look and does not undercut the first market will do better from a handful of lotuses than from hundreds of common herbs. No route has been walked or timed, so there is no hourly figure here, only the recipes and the reason they make the lotus scarce.

How this guide was written
Prices on this page are read live from TheWoWDB Auction House tables when the page loads. Item names, icons, zones and art come from our own datamine of the game client. We do not publish gold-per-hour numbers for any route nobody has walked and timed, so where a rate would go this page says so. WoW Forever is in beta: every fact here is labelled with the client build it was read from and can change before launch. Read the full method or the about page.
