Cloth in WoW Forever: Linen to Runecloth, Priced
Linen, Wool, Silk, Mageweave, Runecloth and Felcloth in WoW Forever: beta-scan prices, bolt math, tailoring and First Aid recipe counts, and what to sell.
Lowest buyout from player scans of the WoW Forever beta Auction House, as of beta build 70291. Beta prices are a testing economy and will not carry over to launch. Last verified
The short answer
Cloth is the one gathering material every character collects, profession or not, and WoW Forever's Tailoring tables make it more valuable than it was in Classic. On the beta the latest player scans put Linen Cloth at 13 copper, Wool at 55 copper, Silk at 3 silver67 copper, Mageweave at 30 silver45 copper and Runecloth at …. Felcloth had no listings. The thing most players miss is that raw cloth looks like it has almost no recipes, because Tailoring uses bolts. Count the bolts and the demand is enormous: crafting every recipe once would take more than seven thousand Runecloth. Never vendor cloth. Sell Linen and Wool as bolts while the bolt is worth more, and sell Mageweave and Runecloth raw on the beta, where the bolts were selling below their cloth.
Raw cloth versus bolts
If you search our extract for recipes that use raw cloth, the numbers look small: Linen Cloth appears in 12 recipes, Runecloth in 30. That is because a tailor first turns cloth into bolts and then uses the bolts. Here are both sides of the count.
| Cloth | Recipes using raw cloth | Bolt recipe | Recipes using the bolt | New bolt recipes in Forever |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Linen Cloth | 12 | 2 Linen to 1 Bolt (skill 25 to 50) | 46 | 18 |
| Wool Cloth | 14 | 3 Wool to 1 Bolt (70 to 85) | 51 | 22 |
| Silk Cloth | 10 | 4 Silk to 1 Bolt (110 to 120) | 105 | 49 |
| Mageweave Cloth | 13 | 5 Mageweave to 1 Bolt (145 to 150) | 83 | 32 |
| Runecloth | 30 | 5 Runecloth to 1 Bolt (210 to 215) | 179 | 66 |
| Felcloth | 18 | none | none | none |
Silk and Runecloth bolts gained the most new recipes in Forever, 49 and 66. Much of that comes from new Tailoring sets and from Leatherworking and Engineering recipes that now want bolts too.
The hidden demand
Here is the number this page is built around. Multiply each bolt's recipe demand by the cloth it takes, add the raw-cloth recipes (minus the bolt recipe itself), and you get the cloth needed to craft every recipe in the client once.
| Cloth | Bolts to craft each recipe once | Cloth inside those bolts | Plus raw-cloth recipes | Total cloth |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Linen | 149 | 298 | 16 | 314 |
| Wool | 243 | 729 | 17 | 746 |
| Silk | 633 | 2,532 | 12 | 2,544 |
| Mageweave | 688 | 3,440 | 38 | 3,478 |
| Runecloth | 1,379 | 6,895 | 137 | 7,032 |
Runecloth's real demand is about fifty times the 142 Runecloth that the raw-cloth recipes list on their own (7,032 against 142). Silk's is about 160 times (2,544 against 16). This is why cloth that looks like vendor trash in a bag is one of the steadiest products on any Auction House.
Where the new Silk demand comes from
Silk is the cloth Forever changed most, and the reason is one design. Tailoring gains a family of robes, sashes, circlets and leggings in six parallel versions: Flame, Pearly, Pristine, Shadow, Shining and Silky. Each version uses the same bolts, thread and Cerulean Dye, plus a flavour reagent that crosses into another profession's market: Fire Oil, Small Lustrous Pearl, Pristine Leather, Shadowgem, Pyrite or Spider's Silk.
| Piece (all six versions) | Skill range | Bolts of Silk per craft |
|---|---|---|
| Filigreed Leggings | 105 | 8 |
| Sash | 110 to 145 | 8 |
| Circlet | 125 to 160 | 10 |
| Filigreed Circlet | 130 | 8 |
| Gown | 130 to 160 | 12 |
| Leggings | 145 to 175 | 14 |
One version of the whole family takes sixty Bolts of Silk. All six take 360 bolts, which is 1,440 Silk Cloth, more than half of the Silk total in the table above. Tailoring also adds Earthen Silk pieces at 160 to 215, Azure and Cloudy Stormsewn cowls and epaulets at 185 to 190, a Silk Reagent Bag and a Spinning Wheel camp object at 140 to 145 that takes five bolts. If you collect Silk in launch week, this family is the buyer. It lands right in the 105 to 175 band, where most tailors on a fresh realm will be levelling at the same time.
Bolt or sell: the beta math
Making a bolt is free for a tailor apart from time. So the question is simply whether one bolt sells for more than the cloth that goes into it. Here is the 2026-10-08 snapshot.
| Bolt | Cloth cost at scan price | Bolt scan | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bolt of Linen Cloth | 2 Linen = 50 copper | 69 copper | bolt is worth 38 percent more |
| Bolt of Woolen Cloth | 3 Wool = 2 silver37 copper | 3 silver39 copper | bolt is worth 43 percent more |
| Bolt of Silk Cloth | 4 Silk = 13 silver56 copper | 14 silver85 copper | bolt is worth 10 percent more |
| Bolt of Mageweave | 5 Mageweave = 1 gold25 silver | 75 silver50 copper | bolt is worth 40 percent less |
| Bolt of Runecloth | 5 Runecloth = 2 gold50 silver | 21 silver | bolt is worth far less |
On the beta, Linen and Wool bolts were clearly better than raw cloth, Silk was slightly better, and Mageweave and Runecloth bolts were selling below their inputs. The Mageweave and Runecloth rows come from very few listings, and the Runecloth bolt in particular looks like a test listing, but the rule they point to is sound: always check before you bolt.
First Aid: the other cloth buyer
Every character can learn First Aid, so bandages put a floor under cloth prices. The Forever client keeps the full Classic bandage ladder and adds three new tourniquets. Two of them use cloth and are in the table; the third, Leather Tourniquet at 220 to 280, takes two Thick Leather and two Silken Thread.
| Recipe | Skill range | Cloth per craft | New in Forever |
|---|---|---|---|
| Linen Bandage | 30 to 60 | 1 Linen | no |
| Heavy Linen Bandage | 50 to 100 | 2 Linen | no |
| Wool Bandage | 80 to 150 | 1 Wool | no |
| Heavy Wool Bandage | 115 to 185 | 2 Wool | no |
| Woolen Tourniquet | 120 to 190 | 2 Wool, 2 Fine Thread | yes |
| Silk Bandage | 150 to 210 | 1 Silk | no |
| Heavy Silk Bandage | 180 to 240 | 2 Silk | no |
| Mageweave Bandage | 210 to 270 | 1 Mageweave | no |
| Heavy Mageweave Bandage | 240 to 300 | 2 Mageweave | no |
| Runecloth Bandage | 260 to 320 | 1 Runecloth | no |
| Surgical Tourniquet | 280 to 340 | 2 Runecloth, 2 Rugged Leather, 2 Heavy Silken Thread | yes |
| Heavy Runecloth Bandage | 290 to 350 | 2 Runecloth | no |
The bandage market moves in step with levelling. Characters level First Aid using the cloth they loot, so cheap Linen and Wool get eaten by their own looters, and bought cloth demand comes from characters who skipped the early bands. On the beta,
Mageweave Bandage scanned at 30 silver, more than one Mageweave Cloth, which suggests bandage buyers are already active at the edge of the level cap.
Engineering, Leatherworking and a herbalist's bag
Raw cloth has smaller buyers too. Engineering uses Wool and Runecloth in a run of new SAF-T and EZ-Thro explosives, ten Engineering recipes for Wool and sixteen for Runecloth. Leatherworking uses Runecloth in seven recipes and Mageweave in one. And Herbalism's new Seed Hybridizer camp object at skill 300 asks for two Runecloth along with four Mountain Silversage and a Crystal Vial. None of these rivals Tailoring, but together they are why Runecloth has 30 raw recipes when the other cloths have 10 to 14.
Felcloth
Felcloth is the odd one out. It has no bolt, and its 18 recipes are almost all Tailoring (17, one of them new), with one Leatherworking use. Crafting each once takes 172 Felcloth. The client vendors it for 20 silver, five times Runecloth's vendor price. In Classic, Felcloth dropped from satyrs and demons in Felwood, Azshara and a few other high-level areas, and it went into Felcloth bags and warlock-flavoured gear. We have not confirmed its Forever sources, and the beta had no listings.
How to handle your cloth
- Never vendor cloth. Every cloth that had a listing scanned above its client vendor price on the beta, from about two times for Linen to more than ten times for Runecloth.
- Bolt Linen and Wool if you tailor. The bolt was worth about forty percent more than its cloth on 2026-10-08.
- Check Silk before bolting. The gain was small. If the bolt slips, sell raw.
- Sell Mageweave and Runecloth raw on the beta. The bolts were selling below the cloth. Recheck at launch: with more than seven thousand Runecloth of demand, bolts should recover once tailors reach 210.
- Keep a stack for First Aid. If you level First Aid, use your own cloth; buying bandage cloth costs more than you think during launch week.
Where the cloth drops (Classic level bands)
Cloth drops from humanoid enemies at roughly matching levels. The table below is Classic Era behaviour; we have not logged cloth drops on the Forever beta.
| Cloth | Humanoid levels in Classic | Example zones in Classic |
|---|---|---|
| Linen | 5 to 20 | Westfall, Silverpine Forest, the Barrens |
| Wool | 15 to 30 | Redridge, Hillsbrad, Ashenvale |
| Silk | 25 to 40 | Stranglethorn Vale, Arathi, Desolace |
| Mageweave | 35 to 50 | the Hinterlands, Tanaris, Feralas, Stranglethorn |
| Runecloth | 50 to 60 | Eastern and Western Plaguelands, Winterspring, Felwood |
| Felcloth | 50 to 60 | Felwood, Azshara |

Stranglethorn Vale: Eastern Kingdoms, Zone ID 33

Eastern Plaguelands: Eastern Kingdoms, Zone ID 139
Forever's new Riverglades, with explore levels from 36 to 44 and nearly 200 quests according to Blizzard, sits in the Silk and Mageweave band. If its humanoids drop cloth the way Classic humanoids did, it will be a busy cloth zone, but nobody has logged it yet.

No hourly gold figure is published here until this route has been walked end to end with a timer and a full loot log. Until then this page gives you the inputs (live prices and what drops) and leaves the arithmetic to you.
Risks to keep in mind
Cloth has one big weakness as a market: supply is huge, because everyone loots it. In launch week every quester drops Linen and Wool on the market, and prices for the low cloths can fall below what the recipe math suggests. The hidden demand is real, but it is spread over weeks as tailors level, while the supply arrives all at once. The second risk is the flavour reagents. The six-version Silk family needs Cerulean Dye, Fine Thread and a flavour reagent for every piece. If dye or thread runs short, tailors stall and Silk demand pauses with them. Neither risk is a reason to vendor cloth. Both are reasons to sell in batches and hold some stock past the first rush.
What to watch on the Auction House
- Bolt versus cloth. The single most useful check. When a bolt sells above its cloth, tailors are levelling.
- Runecloth in the first month. It has the biggest hidden demand of any material on this page.
- Mageweave Bandage. It already outsold its cloth on the beta; if that holds, First Aid levellers are a real buyer.
Is it worth your time?
You will collect cloth whether you plan to or not, so the only question is whether you sell it well. On the beta, Linen and Wool are worth bolting and Mageweave and Runecloth are worth selling raw. At launch, the hidden demand inside bolts, thousands of Silk, Mageweave and Runecloth, makes cloth one of the most reliable markets in Forever. No farming route has been walked, so this page carries no hourly figure, only prices, yields and the recipes that create demand.

How this guide was written
Prices on this page are read live from TheWoWDB Auction House tables when the page loads. Item names, icons, zones and art come from our own datamine of the game client. We do not publish gold-per-hour numbers for any route nobody has walked and timed, so where a rate would go this page says so. WoW Forever is in beta: every fact here is labelled with the client build it was read from and can change before launch. Read the full method or the about page.
