How Much Gold You Need in Midnight: A Costed Budget
A costed Midnight budget built from live Auction House prices: weekly flasks, potions, food and runes, plus a one-off enchant and gem bill, with a dated total.
The short answer
On 2026-10-08, at the prices in our Auction House tables, a raider who uses the top flask, top combat potions and stat food would spend about 6,300 gold a week on consumables, and about 12,400 gold once to enchant and gem a full set of gear. A casual player using the cheaper consumable listings would spend about 690 gold a week. Those totals move every day with the market: the same raider's week cost about 4,900 gold at the 14-day lows of each item and about 6,000 gold at the 14-day highs. The evening price came out above the 14-day high because the stat food had spiked to nearly three times its normal range: priced at the food's 14-day high instead, the raider's week is about 5,500 gold, which is the fairer figure to plan around. Every line below carries a live price, so the page recalculates itself in your head each time you load it. The quantities are our own example profiles, not measurements; swap in your own and the method still works.

Two consumables, two prices
Most Midnight consumables appear on the Auction House as two separate listings at very different prices, because each rank is its own item. Flask of the Shattered Sun, for example, lists at 420 gold and 137 gold59 silver. Which one you buy is the biggest decision in your budget. Raiders chasing every point of performance buy the dearer listing; everyone else can buy the cheaper one and spend a fraction. The tables below price both profiles so you can see the gap.
Profile 1: a weekly raider
Our example raider plays two raid nights and a few Mythic+ keys each week. The quantities are our assumptions; change them to fit your schedule.
| Line | Item | Units per week | Live unit price | Week at 2026-10-08 prices |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flask | 8 | 420 gold | 3,331 gold52 silver | |
| Combat potion | 16 | 99 gold99 silver | 1,675 gold52 silver | |
| Healing potion | 10 | 3 gold69 silver | 20 gold | |
| Stat food | 8 | 36 gold10 silver | 1,219 gold84 silver | |
| Vantus rune | 1 | 39 gold98 silver | 50 gold | |
| Total | 6,296 gold88 silver |
The flask is more than half of the bill. The arithmetic for that line: 8 flasks at 416 gold44 silver each is 3,331 gold52 silver. If you only change one habit to save gold, change the flask: the cheaper listing of the same flask was 132 gold1 silver that evening, which would cut the line to 1,056 gold8 silver.
The same week at the 14-day low and high
Prices on the strip move. This table prices the raider's week three ways using the 14-day low and high our tables held on 2026-10-08.
| Line | At the 14-day low | At the price on 2026-10-08 | At the 14-day high |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flask, 8 | 3,206 gold | 3,331 gold52 silver | 3,541 gold76 silver |
| Combat potion, 16 | 1,538 gold8 silver | 1,675 gold52 silver | 1,879 gold20 silver |
| Healing potion, 10 | 16 gold80 silver | 20 gold | 31 gold90 silver |
| Stat food, 8 | 144 gold | 1,219 gold84 silver | 423 gold84 silver |
| Vantus rune, 1 | 20 gold | 50 gold | 80 gold |
| Total | 4,924 gold88 silver | 6,296 gold88 silver | 5,956 gold70 silver |
Look at the stat food row. On the evening we checked, the cheapest Braised Blood Hunter on the house was 152 gold48 silver, nearly three times its 14-day high of 52 gold98 silver. Someone had bought out the cheap supply and the next listing up became the price. Buying eight that evening cost more than eight times what it would have cost at the 14-day low. That is the single best budgeting lesson on this page: never restock at a spike. Check the strip, and if an item sits above its 14-day high, buy only what you need tonight and restock later in the week.
Profile 2: a casual player
Our casual profile does a few Mythic+ keys and some Delves, and buys the cheaper listing of everything.
| Line | Item | Units per week | Live unit price | Week at 2026-10-08 prices |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flask | 4 | 137 gold59 silver | 528 gold4 silver | |
| Combat potion | 8 | 14 gold52 silver | 92 gold | |
| Healing potion | 10 | 3 gold69 silver | 20 gold | |
| Stat food | 6 | 7 gold97 silver | 51 gold48 silver | |
| Total | 691 gold52 silver |
At the 14-day lows this week would cost about 567 gold44 silver, and at the 14-day highs about 762 gold92 silver. The casual week costs roughly a ninth of the raider's week, almost entirely because of the flask listing.
The one-off bill: enchants and gems
Enchants and gems are paid once per piece of gear, not every week, but they are the biggest single purchase most players make. This is the cost of one full set, using the enchant scrolls and gem our tables price.
| Slot | Item | Live price | Price on 2026-10-08 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weapon | 1,348 gold | 1,889 gold49 silver | |
| Chest | 2,650 gold | 2,731 gold26 silver | |
| Boots | 1,409 gold75 silver | 1,411 gold | |
| Ring, two | 648 gold96 silver each | 2,090 gold | |
| Helm | 878 gold28 silver | 1,247 gold82 silver | |
| Legs | 1,791 gold57 silver | 2,128 gold43 silver | |
| Gems, two | 407 gold95 silver each | 940 gold | |
| Total | 12,438 gold |
At the 14-day lows the same set would cost about 10,938 gold, and at the 14-day highs about 12,454 gold. Several enchants sat above their 14-day high that evening (the ring enchant at 1,045 gold against a high of 944 gold99 silver, for example), so this is another bill worth timing.

The cheapest saving here is not skipping enchants. It is not re-enchanting gear you are about to replace. Put the full set on gear you expect to keep for a while, and use cheaper options, such as
Arcanoweave Spellthread at 1,190 gold on legs, for pieces you will swap soon.
Where the raider's gold goes
Breaking the raider's week into shares shows where saving matters and where it does not. At the 2026-10-08 prices:
| Line | Week cost | Share of the week |
|---|---|---|
| Flask | 3,331 gold52 silver | about 53 percent |
| Combat potions | 1,675 gold52 silver | about 27 percent |
| Stat food | 1,219 gold84 silver | about 19 percent |
| Vantus rune | 50 gold | under 1 percent |
| Healing potions | 20 gold | under 1 percent |
Flask and combat potions together are four fifths of the bill. Healing potions barely register: ten of the cheaper listing cost less than one combat potion of the dearer listing. So do not ration healing potions to save gold; it saves nothing. If you must trim, trim the flask choice first and the number of combat potions second. And note how unusual the food share was that evening: at its 14-day low, the stat food line would have been under 3 percent of the week.
The gatherer's extra line: tool enchants
If you gather, your profession tools take enchants too, and they are part of the budget even though they make you gold rather than cost you performance. Our tables price two Midnight tool enchants.
| Tool enchant | Live price | Price on 2026-10-08 | 14-day range on 2026-10-08 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 625 gold90 silver | 410 gold70 silver | 470 gold75 silver to 747 gold78 silver | |
| 524 gold9 silver | 483 gold53 silver | 514 gold77 silver to 670 gold99 silver |
Both sat below their 14-day lows that evening, the opposite of the consumables above. A gatherer who planned to enchant a tool that week was buying at a two-week bargain. Prices on both sides of the market move independently; checking the range before buying is the habit that pays, in either direction.
Costs this budget leaves out
We only price what our Auction House tables can see. Several real costs sit outside them, and you should add your own figures for these:
- Repairs. The game charges repair costs at a vendor, and we do not record them.
- Transmog changes. Changing appearances costs gold at the transmogrifier, which is not an Auction House price.
- Profession reagents for your own crafting. If you craft, your reagent bill replaces the listing price for that line, which is usually cheaper. Our Delves guide shows a potion's reagent bill.
- Gear upgrades. Upgrading gear uses currencies and crests rather than Auction House goods.
- Housing and collectibles. Decor, mounts and pets are realm items with their own prices; our housing decor guide covers decor.
A full month, in tokens
Put the profiles together for a four-week month, at the prices on 2026-10-08:
| Profile | Four weeks of consumables | One gear set | Month total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Raider | 25,187 gold52 silver | 12,438 gold | 37,625 gold52 silver |
| Casual | 2,766 gold8 silver | 12,438 gold | 15,204 gold8 silver |
Our token table read the US WoW Token at 290,028 gold the same evening. The raider's month is about 13 percent of one token, and the casual month about 5 percent. Put another way, one token's worth of gold would fund the raider's consumables, at that evening's prices, for about 46 weeks. Our token guide explains why the token is a useful yardstick.
Build your own budget in five minutes
Our profiles are examples. Yours will differ, so here is the method we used, which you can repeat with the live strip at the top of the page.
- List what you actually use in a week. Count flasks, potions, food and runes for one normal week of play. A raid log or simply your bag before and after reset will tell you.
- Decide on the listing for each. Write down whether you buy the dearer or cheaper listing of each consumable.
- Multiply by the live price. Use the strip for each item. That is your week at today's prices.
- Multiply by the 14-day low and high too. That gives you your range. If today sits near the high, restock lightly.
- Add the one-off bill when you get new gear. Enchants and gems go on the month you replace a piece, not every week.
Once you have your weekly number, compare it with what you earn in a week. If the gap is uncomfortable, the flask choice is the first lever, buying at the end of the week the second, and crafting your own the third. Most players never need to cut performance to balance the books; they just need to stop buying at spikes.
How to cut the bill
- Pick the flask listing deliberately. It is the biggest line by far.
- Buy at the end of the week. Our weekday study found consumables a few percent cheaper on Fridays and Saturdays.
- Never buy above the 14-day high. The stat food row above shows how much a spike costs.
- Craft your own if you can. An alchemist or cook pays the reagent bill, not the listing price. Our Delves guide works through a potion's reagent bill.
- Enchant once. Save the expensive enchants for gear you will keep.
- Earn it back. Gathering, crafting and flipping are covered in Auction House basics.
