WoW Token Gold Price: History and What It Means for Gold Makers
Ten weeks of US WoW Token prices from our own token tables, all four regions compared, and what the token says about the real value of your gold.
The short answer
On the evening of 2026-10-08 our token tables read the US WoW Token at 290,028 gold. Over the ten weeks we have recorded, from 2026-07-31, it ranged from 236,045 gold at its lowest to 344,238 gold at its highest, and the weekly median drifted from about 262,800 gold in late July to about 285,500 gold in early October, a rise of roughly 9 percent. In the same period most Midnight materials lost a third or more of their price. So the token tells a gold maker something useful: your gold buys less game time than it did in the summer, but each token now buys far more herbs, ore and flasks than it did before the 12.1 patch. This page shows the series, the four regions, and how to read the token as a yardstick for your own work.
What the token is, in one paragraph
A WoW Token is an item a player buys from Blizzard's shop with real money and sells on the Auction House for gold at whatever price Blizzard's system sets at that moment. The buyer of the token pays that gold and can redeem the token for game time or for Battle.net balance under Blizzard's current terms, which you should check in the shop because they change from time to time. The important part for gold makers: the token price is not set by players bidding on listings. Blizzard moves it up and down to balance supply and demand across the region, and that makes it the closest thing the game has to an exchange rate between gold and real money.
You can watch the live price and the full chart on TheWoWDB token page.
Ten weeks of the US token
Each row is one calendar week starting on a Monday. Values are the lowest, highest and median prices our table recorded that week.

| 2026-10-05 (to Oct 8) | 277,023 gold | 295,243 gold | 285,459 gold | 379 |
The week of 2026-09-14 has fewer readings because our table has no entries for September 15 and 16. We have not filled the gap.
Three phases show up. Through August the median held between 262,000 gold and 272,000 gold, with short spikes: the daily high touched 344,238 gold on 2026-08-27 before falling back the next day. In early September the price slid to its low of the period, 236,045 gold on 2026-09-06. From mid September it stepped up to a new level near 285,000 gold to 290,000 gold and has stayed there.
The spikes are short
The August spikes look dramatic in a weekly table, but they did not last. These are the daily figures for the busiest stretch.
| Day | Lowest | Highest | Median |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-08-25 | 256,948 gold | 273,226 gold | 267,721 gold |
| 2026-08-26 | 256,138 gold | 325,802 gold | 285,458 gold |
| 2026-08-27 | 257,811 gold | 344,238 gold | 296,310 gold |
| 2026-08-28 | 258,008 gold | 299,711 gold | 281,198 gold |
| 2026-08-29 | 257,578 gold | 265,932 gold | 263,643 gold |
| 2026-09-04 | 239,104 gold | 253,982 gold | 249,560 gold |
| 2026-09-06 | 236,045 gold | 245,580 gold | 240,592 gold |
| 2026-09-13 | 244,748 gold | 297,970 gold | 269,384 gold |
Within two days of the August 27 high, the median was back where it started. If you plan to buy a token with gold, a price well above the recent median is usually worth waiting out for a day or two. If you plan to sell a token for gold, the reverse holds, and spikes like these are the moment.
Four regions on the same evening
Each region has its own token market and its own price. These are the latest readings in our table for each region, all taken within a few seconds of each other on the evening of 2026-10-08 (US time).
| Region | Token price |
|---|---|
| US | 290,028 gold |
| EU | 387,379 gold |
| KR | 311,733 gold |
| TW | 517,911 gold |
Prices are not comparable as a measure of who is richer, because each region's token is sold at a different real-money price and each region has its own economy. What the comparison does show is that the US token is the cheapest of the four in gold. Gold you earn on a US realm can only buy US tokens, so the number that matters for you is the US line.
The token measured in Midnight materials
Here is the part nobody else prints. If the token is an exchange rate, you can turn it around and ask how many units of a material one token is worth. We did that with the weekly median token and the average price of each material in two windows: before the 12.1 patch (2026-07-31 to 2026-08-10) and the first week of October.
| Material | Average price before 12.1 | Average price Oct 1 to 7 | Units per token before 12.1 | Units per token in October |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nocturnal Lotus | 396 gold43 silver | 266 gold42 silver | about 663 | about 1,071 |
| Gold Argentleaf | 65 gold83 silver | 40 gold39 silver | about 3,990 | about 7,070 |
| Flask of the Shattered Sun (higher listing) | 573 gold33 silver | 481 gold63 silver | about 458 | about 593 |
| Dazzling Thorium | 28 gold71 silver | 16 gold99 silver | about 9,150 | about 16,800 |
| Dawn Crystal (higher listing) | 809 gold51 silver | 284 gold85 silver | about 325 | about 1,000 |
The arithmetic for the first row: the token median before 12.1 was about 262,801 gold and the Lotus averaged 396 gold43 silver, so one token equalled 262,801 divided by 396.43, about 663 Lotus. In early October the token median was about 285,459 gold and the Lotus averaged 266 gold42 silver, so one token equalled about 1,071 Lotus. Material prices are medians of daily listings from our history table, so treat the ratios as a fair guide rather than an exact rate.
What this means for a gatherer is uncomfortable but useful: in token terms, a Nocturnal Lotus is worth about 38 percent less than it was in early August, and Dazzling Thorium about 45 percent less. If you farm to buy tokens, you need to gather more than half again as much as you did in the summer to pay for the same token. If you buy materials with token gold, it has rarely been cheaper.
What a rising token price tells you
- Gold is losing value against real money. A higher token price means more gold for the same game time. Over our ten weeks the US token rose about 9 percent.
- Materials lost more. Over the same weeks, most Midnight materials fell 15 to 78 percent from their pre-12.1 level. Gold weakened a little; materials weakened a lot. Our patch-day study has the full table.
- Big purchases should be planned in tokens. When you look at a mount on the Black Market house or a pricey BoE, convert it into tokens to see what you are really paying. Our Black Market guide does exactly that.
Why did the token step up in September?
We can see when the price moved; we cannot see why from our tables alone, so treat this section as reasoning, not fact. Blizzard's system raises the price when more players want to buy tokens with gold than want to sell them for gold, and lowers it when the reverse holds. Two things lined up with the September step. First, our news feed carried the announcement of the 12.1.5 content update and its housing decor on 2026-09-03, followed by the Midnight Season 3 dungeon preview in mid September, and new content tends to bring players back who arrive with gold to spend and buy game time with it. Second, material prices had already deflated through late August and early September, which made gold slower to earn for gatherers and may have pushed some of them to buy tokens with real money instead of farming. Neither cause is proven here. What is proven is the shape: a dip to the period low on 2026-09-06, then a new plateau whose weekly median sat about 16 percent above the week of the low (from 250,552 gold to 290,494 gold).
Selling a token versus buying one
The token runs in both directions, and the right move depends on which side you are on.
If you buy a token with gold, you want a low price. In our ten weeks the cheapest week was the one starting 2026-08-31, with a median of 258,857 gold and a low of 236,045 gold. The current plateau is roughly 10 percent dearer than that. A patient buyer who waits for a dip will usually beat one who buys the moment they reach the price.
If you sell a token for gold, you want a high price, and the spikes in the daily table are your friend. A token sold at the August 27 high of 344,238 gold brought in about 30 percent more gold than one sold two days later. Spikes are unpredictable, so the practical approach is to keep a token in your bags and check the price once a day rather than selling the instant you buy it.
Either way, remember that the token's gold price is set by Blizzard's system, not by an undercut. There is no listing to beat and no cut to subtract when you sell to the system; the price you see is the gold you receive.
How to use the token in your own planning
- Set your goal in tokens, not gold. If you want one token a month, your target is about 290,000 gold at today's price, give or take the swings above.
- Track your weekly income in tokens. Divide what you made this week by the token median. That number tells you whether your gold making is improving even when prices move.
- Buy tokens near the median, not at spikes. The daily table shows spikes fade within two days.
- Re-price your farm in tokens. A farm that was worth it in August may not be now. Use the units-per-token table: if a token now costs you far more units of your material than it did, switch materials or sell into crafting instead.
- Watch the weekly median on TheWoWDB. The token page charts every region; this page is the snapshot behind the analysis.

How this guide was written
Prices on this page are read live from TheWoWDB Auction House tables when the page loads. Item names, icons, zones and art come from our own datamine of the game client. We do not publish gold-per-hour numbers for any route nobody has walked and timed, so where a rate would go this page says so. Read the full method or the about page.
