Delves for Gold in Midnight: What Sells From a Delve

What a Midnight Delve gives you that can actually be sold, checked item by item against our datamine and Auction House tables, plus the consumables delvers buy.

Updated · By Christopher Lucas · Retail: Midnight

The short answer

Delves are a poor direct gold source and a good indirect one. We checked every Delve reward item in our datamine of the 12.1 client: the Restored Coffer Key, the Cache of Delver's Spoils, the cosmetic bag and the Delver's Arcane Golem mount are all bound to you, and so are the leftover items from The War Within's Delves that still sit in the client. None of them can be listed on the Auction House. Our tables found no Midnight Delve reward on sale anywhere in the US region. The gold in Delves comes from two other places: the coin and gear you earn for your own character, which saves you gold you would otherwise spend, and the steady stream of potions, food and flasks that delvers burn through and buy from crafters. If you craft or gather those inputs, Delvers are your customers. Right now a Silvermoon Health Potion lists at 69 gold50 silver and 3 gold69 silver for its two listings.

What a Delve gives you, and whether you can sell it

We pulled every item whose name or description ties it to Delves or Coffers from our datamine and checked its binding flag, then searched our Auction House tables for each one. The client still carries the Delve items of The War Within next to the Midnight ones, and their descriptions say so (several name Khaz Algar), so the table marks which era each item belongs to.

Every row but the last says the same thing: Delve rewards are made for the character who earns them. The last row is the one oddity in our datamine. Two versions of the old Delver's Bounty map carry no binding flag, yet neither appeared in any US realm or commodity listing when we searched on 2026-10-08, so treat it as unsellable in practice until a listing proves otherwise. That is by design. Delves are meant to gear and reward a player, not to feed the Auction House. Anyone who tells you a Delve reward is a gold farm is talking about the coin inside coffers, not the items.

Where the gold actually is

1. Gold you do not spend

The Cache of Delver's Spoils description in our datamine says it rewards Champion equipment. Every piece of gear a Delve gives you is a piece you do not buy as crafted gear. That is the biggest gold effect of Delves for most players, and it never shows up in your bags as gold. If you were about to buy a crafted piece for a slot that Delves can fill, run the Delves first.

2. Coin from coffers

Bountiful Coffers contain gold as well as gear and currencies, according to their client descriptions. Our datamine does not hold the amount (it is decided on the server), and we have not logged enough coffers to print one. We will not guess. If you run Delves, count the coin from your coffers for a week; that is your number.

3. Selling to delvers

Delvers drink potions, eat food and use flasks, and many of them buy rather than craft. Those are commodities, so they sell to the whole US region, and Delve players are part of the steady weekly demand.

What delvers buy: the shopping list

These are the consumables a Delve run leans on, with live prices. Each item appears as two or three separate listings in the game because each rank is its own item; compare each listing with its own 14-day range on the strip above.

The healing potion row is the one to watch. On 2026-10-08 our tables showed about 40,000 units of the cheaper Silvermoon Health Potion listing on sale, one of the deepest consumable markets in Midnight. Deep markets mean steady buyers and stiff competition. If you are an alchemist, the cheaper listing is a volume product and the dearer one is where the margin sits, which is why its quantity on sale was far smaller.

A worked example: one week of potions

Here is what a solo delver who uses three healing potions and two damage potions per Delve might spend if they run ten Delves in a week, at the prices our tables held on 2026-10-08. The usage numbers are an illustration, not a measurement.

ItemUnits per weekUnit price (2026-10-08, cheaper listing)Week's cost
Silvermoon Health Potion302 gold60 gold
Light's Potential2011 gold50 silver230 gold
Braised Blood Hunter1052 gold98 silver (14-day high)529 gold80 silver

We priced the food at its 14-day high rather than its price that evening, because on 2026-10-08 the Braised Blood Hunter listing had jumped to 152 gold48 silver, nearly three times the top of its two-week range of 18 gold to 52 gold98 silver. A spike like that is a seller testing the market, not the going rate; at the spike price the food line alone would have been 1,524 gold80 silver. Even at the 14-day high, food dominates this bill because the stat food listing is far dearer per unit than the potions. That is a useful hint for a crafter: a cook who can make Braised Blood Hunter cheaply is selling into a market where each unit is worth many potions. For a full weekly bill for raiders and Mythic+ players, see the costed Midnight budget.

The crafter's side: what a potion costs to make

Selling to delvers only pays if your cost is below the price. Our datamine gives the reagents for each potion, and our tables price them. These are the bills for one craft on 2026-10-08, using the cheapest grade of each reagent.

PotionReagents per craftReagent bill per craft (2026-10-08)Cheaper listing (2026-10-08)Units per craft to break even
Silvermoon Health Potion5 Sunglass Vial, 6 Tranquility Bloom25 gold59 silver2 goldabout 13.5
Light's Potential5 Sunglass Vial, 8 Tranquility Bloom, 3 Argentleaf, 3 Azeroot, 1 Mote of Light88 gold12 silver11 gold50 silverabout 8.1

The last column is the number that matters, and it is our own arithmetic: divide the bill by the cheaper listing price after the 5 percent cut. For the health potion, 25.59 divided by (2.00 times 0.95) is about 13.5. In plain terms, if one craft gives you fewer than about thirteen or fourteen health potions of the cheaper rank, you lose money selling at that price. The client does not tell us how many potions a craft makes (it depends on your Alchemy setup), so check your own yield on a test batch of ten crafts before you commit.

The dearer listings change the picture completely. On the same evening the dearer Silvermoon Health Potion listing was 69 gold50 silver and the dearer Light's Potential listing 99 gold99 silver. A craft that produces the higher rank recovers its whole bill from one or two units. That is why skilled alchemists chase the top rank, and why the cheaper listings sit in such deep, crowded markets.

Delves or gathering?

Run Delves when your character needs gear; gather or craft when you need gold you can spend.

How to turn Delve demand into gold

  1. Pick one consumable you can make. Alchemists: healing and damage potions. Cooks: stat food. Gatherers: the herbs and fish those recipes eat.
  2. Price against the 14-day range. Use the strip above. List when the current price sits in the top half of its range.
  3. Sell early in the reset week. Our best day to sell study found potions about 5 percent above their weekly average on Tuesdays and about 5 percent below on Fridays.
  4. Do not undercut a deep market by much. With tens of thousands of units on sale, a one copper undercut is enough; anything more just lowers the price for everyone, including your next batch.
  5. Keep your Delve gear. Use Delve rewards to fill gear slots before you spend gold on crafted pieces.

If you gather on the way between Delves, the herbs and ore you pick are commodities and sell to the whole region. Our Argentleaf guide covers one of the herbs found in all four zones.

A gold-minded Delve week, step by step

  1. Before the reset, stock up cheap. Buy your potions and food on Friday or Saturday, when our weekday study found consumables a few percent below their weekly average.
  2. Craft what you can. If you have Alchemy or Cooking, make your own supplies and only buy the rest. Every potion you craft is one you do not pay the cut on.
  3. Spend keys where the gear helps most. Restored Coffer Keys are bound, so their only value is what they open for you. Use them on the Bountiful Delves that fill your weakest gear slot.
  4. Pick up every node on the way. Herbs and ore you gather between Delves are the part of the trip you can sell.
  5. Log your coin. Write down the gold from each coffer. After a week you have a real figure for your own runs, which is better than any number a guide could invent.
  6. Sell surplus supplies on Tuesday. If you over-crafted, list the extra early in the reset week.

What we do not know

  • Coin per coffer. Server-side and unmeasured by us.
  • Drop chances. Blizzard does not publish the odds for the Delver's Bounty or the mount, and we have not logged them.
  • Whether any Delve mob drops tradeable world gear. World drops of Bind on Equip gear can appear anywhere players kill creatures, but we have not recorded one from a Delve and will not claim it.

For the full weekly consumable bill, see the costed Midnight budget. For gold from old content instead, read Old Raid Transmog Runs. For how to list, see Auction House basics. All Delve guides are on the Delves hub.

How this guide was written

Prices on this page are read live from TheWoWDB Auction House tables when the page loads. Item names, icons, zones and art come from our own datamine of the game client. We do not publish gold-per-hour numbers for any route nobody has walked and timed, so where a rate would go this page says so. Read the full method or the about page.
