The short answer
Lightfused nodes are the golden, oversized herb and ore nodes of Quel'Thalas. The client text says they yield additional resources and release motes of holy energy that burn if you catch them. Our datamine lists eight Lightfused gathering spells: one for each of the five Midnight base herbs and three for ores. The motes become
Mote of Light, which sells for 58 silver and appears in 70 recipes across eight professions. The arithmetic below shows the real value of a Lightfused node is the extra herbs, not the motes: one extra Silver Azeroot was worth about 26 Motes of Light on 2026-10-08. Take every golden node you see, and pick it for the herbs.
What the client says about Lightfused nodes
Every Midnight gathering spell is built from two pieces of text: the herb's own description and, for infused nodes, a shared description of the infusion. The Lightfused herb text, in our words: a strange light has started to affect the herbs of Quel'Thalas. They grow large and golden, like the Sunwell, but twisted somehow. Gathering them releases motes of holy energy that sear if caught, but they yield additional resources.
The ore version is close to it. Some ore deposits in Quel'Thalas, drenched in the Sunwell's glow, gleam with radiance; touching them releases motes of holy energy that burn if caught, and they too yield additional resources. So herbalists and miners share the same mechanic and the same mote.
The eight Lightfused gathering spells
| Gathering spell | Spell id | Profession | Base material |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lightfused Argentleaf | 1224882 | Herbalism | |
| Lightfused Tranquility Bloom | 1224883 | Herbalism | |
| Lightfused Mana Lily | 1224884 | Herbalism | |
| Lightfused Azeroot | 1224885 | Herbalism | |
| Lightfused Sanguithorn | 1224886 | Herbalism | |
| Lightfused Refulgent Copper | 1225351 | Mining | Refulgent Copper |
| Lightfused Brilliant Silver | 1225359 | Mining | Brilliant Silver |
| Lightfused Umbral Tin | 1225367 | Mining | Umbral Tin |
Every base herb has a Lightfused version, so there is no herb you miss out on. Nocturnal Lotus is not on the list, because it has no node of its own.
Lightfused is one of five infused node types for herbs. The others, each with its own gathering text: Lush herbs, which grew beyond their normal means and yield more; Primal herbs in Harandar, which grant an extra Skyriding charge; Wild herbs in Zul'Aman, which spawn hostile herb lashers; and Void herbs in the Voidstorm, pulled across the Twisting Nether. Lightfused is the only one tied to Quel'Thalas.
What players describe in game
This section is player reports, not client data, and we have not checked it ourselves. Players describe the Lightfused node as visibly different from a plain node of the same herb, and describe motes of light appearing around it after the pick that you collect for
Mote of Light. The "sear if caught" line in the client text suggests some of that energy can hurt you, so treat a Lightfused pick as a short stop rather than a fly-through. How much damage, and whether it is worth dodging, we cannot say until a route has been walked.
We have not counted how many extra herbs a Lightfused node gives over a plain one, or how many motes drop per pick. Those numbers depend on your Herbalism setup, and we will not guess them. A walked route with a loot log will measure them.
Mote of Light: price and demand
Mote of Light has a vendor price of 20 silver. On 2026-10-08 our tables read it at 54 silver, and over the previous fourteen days it ranged from 15 silver to 93 silver. At its low it sat below the vendor price; at its high it was worth more than four times the vendor price. That is a wide swing for a reagent everyone produces.
Our recipe lookup finds Mote of Light in 70 recipes:
| Profession | Recipes | Heaviest users (motes per craft) |
|---|---|---|
| Enchanting | 19 | Endless Codex of Blooming Light (20), Magister's Grand Focus (10), Spellbound Tome of Thalassian Magics (10) |
| Leatherworking | 13 | Ranger-General's Grips (20), Sin'dorei Engineer's Gloves (20), Sin'dorei Hunter's Pack (20) |
| Tailoring | 12 | Arcanoweave Bracers (12), Sunfire Cloak (12), Martyr's Crown (8) |
| Inscription | 11 | Darkmoon Dominion: Blood (20), Darkmoon Sigil: Blood (10), Contract: The Amani Tribe (3) |
| Alchemy | 7 | Transmute: Mote of Wild Magic (10), Flask of Thalassian Resistance (2), Primal Philosopher's Stone (2) |
| Jewelcrafting | 6 | Thalassian Phoenix Torque (20), Masterwork Sin'dorei Amulet (10), four Flawless garnets (3 each) |
| Engineering | 1 | Consistent Cogwheel (1) |
| Skinning | 1 | Lightbloom Diffuser (2) |
Three groups stand out. First, profession gear: the Sin'dorei Herbalist's Backpack, Alchemist's Hat, Forgemaster's Cover and Jeweler's Cover each take ten motes, and every crafter wants their profession gear early. Second, high-end crafted items: torques, gloves and cloaks that take twenty. Third, the Light-themed alchemy: Light's Potential, Light's Preservation and the Potion of Zealotry take one mote each, and the Flask of Thalassian Resistance takes two.
Alchemy can also turn ten Mote of Light and two Stabilized Derivate into one Mote of Wild Magic. Our datamine further lists a Transmute: Mote of Light spell taught through Alchemy research, though its reagents are not in our recipe table.
Valuing a Lightfused node: herbs beat motes
Here is the analysis this page exists for. A Lightfused node gives you two bonuses: extra herbs and motes. Which one matters? Compare one extra herb against motes at 2026-10-08 prices:
| One extra herb | Price (2026-10-08) | Motes of Light it equals |
|---|---|---|
| Gold Argentleaf | 33 gold70 silver | about 62 |
| Gold Azeroot | 31 gold96 silver | about 59 |
| Silver Azeroot | 14 gold25 silver | about 26 |
| Silver Argentleaf | 4 gold24 silver | about 8 |
| Gold Tranquility Bloom | 2 gold20 silver | about 4 |
| Silver Tranquility Bloom | 1 gold66 silver | about 3 |
Unless a Lightfused node throws out dozens of motes, a single extra Azeroot or Argentleaf is worth more than all of them. So the motes are a pleasant side effect, and the extra herbs are the payoff. Two conclusions follow. First, Lightfused nodes of valuable herbs are the ones to detour for. A Lightfused Azeroot or Argentleaf is worth a flight; a Lightfused Tranquility Bloom is worth picking only if it is close. Second, if you do not craft, do not slow down to chase every mote. Collect what is easy and keep flying.
The one exception is crafters. If you make profession gear, motes are a direct input with ten or twenty per craft, and buying them back costs you the Auction House cut. For a crafter, every mote collected is one not bought.
Where to find Lightfused nodes
The client ties Lightfused herbs and ores to Quel'Thalas in both texts. In the outdoor Midnight zones, that is Eversong Woods. Whether they also appear around Silvermoon City or elsewhere in Quel'Thalas is not something we have checked.

Eversong Woods: Levels 80-83, Eastern Kingdoms, Zone ID 15968

Eversong is the 80 to 83 zone, so Lightfused nodes are part of every Midnight herbalist's first days. See our Eversong Woods herbalism guide for the zone's herbs and prices.

How to use Lightfused nodes, step by step
- Herb Eversong Woods with your usual target herb in mind, Azeroot for a low Gold share.
- Treat golden nodes as priority stops. Lightfused Azeroot and Argentleaf first, then Mana Lily and Sanguithorn by your Gold share, then Tranquility Bloom.
- Collect the motes that are easy to reach. Do not chase every one.
- Bank motes only if you craft gear that uses them. Otherwise sell them in bulk when the live price is in the top half of its range.
- If the live price is below 20 silver, vendor them. That happened at the bottom of our 14-day range.
- If you also mine, pick Lightfused ore nodes on the same loop. The motes are the same item.
Herbalism plus Mining in Eversong
Lightfused is the one infusion that the client describes for both gathering professions in the same words: extra resources and motes of holy energy. That makes Eversong Woods the best place in Midnight to run Herbalism and Mining on one character. Every golden node of either kind feeds the same Mote of Light stack, and a combined loop through Eversong picks up both. Our mining lane covers the ores in detail; for a herbalist the point is simple. If you have Mining as your second gathering profession, do not fly past a Lightfused ore deposit on your herb loop. The motes stack with the ones from herbs, and the extra ore is a second income from the same flight.
Common mistakes with Lightfused nodes
The first is skipping them because of the motes. The client says they sear if caught, which puts some players off. The node still yields additional resources; that is worth a little damage.
The second is chasing every mote and losing the loop. The table above shows that motes are the smaller half of the value. Grab what is close, then move to the next node.
The third is selling motes at the bottom of the range. Over our fourteen days, Mote of Light swung from below its vendor price to more than four times it. Because supply is so large and steady, waiting a few days for the top half of the range costs you nothing, while selling at the floor costs you most of the value.
The fourth is assuming Lightfused nodes exist in every zone. The client ties them to Quel'Thalas. In Harandar the infused nodes are Primal, in Zul'Aman they are Wild, and in the Voidstorm they are Void. Each zone has its own trade.
Is it worth seeking out Lightfused nodes?
Yes, because they give extra herbs by the client's own description, and extra herbs are where the value is. Motes of Light are a broad but cheap reagent, useful to crafters and a small bonus to everyone else. We cannot tell you how much extra a golden node yields until a route has been walked and logged. Until then, take every one you see. For more, read the Eversong Woods guide, the herb pages for Tranquility Bloom and Azeroot, our Gold quality guide, the Herbalism hub and the retail guides index.

How this guide was written
Prices on this page are read live from TheWoWDB Auction House tables when the page loads. Item names, icons, zones and art come from our own datamine of the game client. We do not publish gold-per-hour numbers for any route nobody has walked and timed, so where a rate would go this page says so. Read the full method or the about page.
