The short answer
Azeroot is the most forgiving herb in Midnight. Silver sells for 17 gold64 silver and Gold for 34 gold98 silver, and on 2026-10-08 the Gold grade was only about 2.2 times the Silver price. Compare that with Sanguithorn, where Silver is almost worthless next to Gold. With Azeroot, a node pays you whatever grade lands in your bag. That makes it the right herb for a new or low-skill herbalist, and our arithmetic below shows that on the day we checked, Azeroot out-earned Argentleaf per herb unless your Gold share was above about 85 percent. If you only have time to chase one herb today, it is usually this one.
What Azeroot is, according to the client
Our datamine of client build 12.1.0.69933 lists
Azeroot at Silver quality and
Azeroot at Gold quality. Both are item level 80, uncommon Trade Goods with a vendor price of 11 silver. The gathering spell's lore text is worth reading because it doubles as a farming hint. It calls Azeroot the stronger descendant of the old earthroot, "difficult to gather, but just as potent in crafting", and says this "sturdy wooden herb can be found on or around trees in the Quel'Thalas region". So when you hunt Azeroot, scan tree lines and trunks rather than open meadows.
The word "wooden" is not just flavour. Azeroot is the only Midnight herb that Inscription uses as a building material for tools and off-hands, which gives it a demand base the other herbs do not have.
Who buys Azeroot: 24 recipes in four professions
Our recipe lookup returns 24 recipes that list Azeroot: 11 in Alchemy, 8 in Inscription, 3 in Cooking and 2 in Enchanting. Only Tranquility Bloom appears in more recipes, and no other herb spreads across so many professions. One craft of every recipe added together asks for 139 Azeroot.

|---|---|---|---|
| Potion of Zealotry | Alchemy | 10 | 5 Sunglass Vial, 8 Tranquility Bloom, 1 Mote of Light |

| Flask of Thalassian Resistance | Alchemy | 6 | 2 Sunglass Vial, 8 Mana Lily, 1 Nocturnal Lotus, 2 Mote of Light |
| Haranir Phial of Perception | Alchemy | 6 | 4 Sunglass Vial, 8 Tranquility Bloom, 3 Argentleaf, 2 Mote of Wild Magic |
| Vicious Thalassian Flask of Honor | Alchemy | 6 | 2 Sunglass Vial, 6 Tranquility Bloom, 8 Sanguithorn |
| Blooming Feast | Cooking | 5 | 5 Mana Lily, 5 Argentleaf, 10 Plant Protein, 5 Tavern Fixings, 1 Petrified Root |
| Potion of Recklessness | Alchemy | 4 | 5 Sunglass Vial, 8 Tranquility Bloom, 1 Mote of Primal Energy |
| Light's Potential, Light's Preservation, Amani Extract, Haranir Phial of Finesse, Harandar Celebration | Alchemy, Cooking | 3 each | various |
| Azeroot Tea, Wondrous Synergist | Cooking, Alchemy | 2 each | Mana-Wyrm Essence; the other four herbs |
Two demand streams sit inside that table. The first is consumables: two of the four raid flasks plus the PvP Vicious Thalassian Flask of Honor, both Haranir phials that use it, the main combat potions and two feasts. That demand follows the raid calendar. The second is Inscription gear: profession tools and off-hands that scribes craft in bursts when a new tier of crafted gear is worth making. The two streams peak at different times, which is one reason Azeroot's price holds up better than its neighbours'.
Why both grades pay: the break-even with Argentleaf
On 2026-10-08 our tables read Silver Azeroot at 14 gold25 silver and Gold at 31 gold96 silver. Over fourteen days Silver traded between 8 gold42 silver and 14 gold94 silver, and Gold between 17 gold89 silver and 35 gold95 silver. The Silver grade alone was worth more than Gold Sanguithorn's whole price range for most of that fortnight.
Here is the number we built this page around. Let your Gold share be the fraction of herbs that come out Gold. The average value of one Azeroot is then the Silver price plus your Gold share times the gap: 14 gold25 silver plus share times 17 gold71 silver. For Argentleaf the same formula is 4 gold24 silver plus share times 29 gold46 silver. Set the two equal and solve: the share where Argentleaf catches Azeroot is 10.01 divided by 11.75, which is about 0.85. Below an 85 percent Gold share, an Azeroot herb was worth more than an Argentleaf herb that day. Against Mana Lily and Sanguithorn there is no crossover at all: Azeroot's Silver price is so much higher that it wins at every share.
| Your Gold share | Value of 100 Azeroot (2026-10-08) | Value of 100 Argentleaf (2026-10-08) |
|---|---|---|
| 0 percent | 1,425 gold | 424 gold |
| 25 percent | 1,867 gold75 silver | 1,160 gold50 silver |
| 50 percent | 2,310 gold50 silver | 1,897 gold |
| 85 percent | 2,930 gold35 silver | 2,928 gold10 silver |
This table only compares the value of herbs once they are in your bag. It does not know how many Azeroot nodes you find compared with Argentleaf nodes, or how many herbs each node gives, because nobody has logged a timed route yet. Use it to decide which node to fly to when both are on screen, not to predict a session.
Azeroot inside the flask bills
Two flasks use Azeroot. Here is the share it takes of each bill at 2026-10-08 Silver prices:
| Flask | Azeroot per craft | Azeroot cost | Whole bill (Silver herbs) | Azeroot share |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flask of the Shattered Sun | 8 | 114 gold | 397 gold72 silver | about 29 percent |
| Flask of Thalassian Resistance | 6 | 85 gold50 silver | 358 gold98 silver | about 24 percent |
After Nocturnal Lotus, Azeroot is the second biggest line in both bills. That changes how crafters behave. When Azeroot rises, flask crafters feel it, and some switch from the Shattered Sun to a flask that does not use Azeroot. That substitution caps how far Azeroot can climb before demand cools. Switching all eight herbs in a Shattered Sun craft from Silver to Gold adds 141 gold68 silver to the bill, which is why only crafters chasing the top grade buy Gold Azeroot for flasks. Our tables show the top-grade Shattered Sun at 420 gold against 137 gold59 silver for the lower grade, so the premium for the best flask is large, and that premium is what keeps the Gold herb's price up.
Where to look for Azeroot
Player reports put Azeroot in Harandar and Eversong Woods, and other player guides say every base herb can appear in every Midnight zone. The reports do not agree, and we have not walked a route to settle it. What we can say from the client is where it grows inside a zone: on or around trees. Zone levels below come from the client's content tuning data.

Harandar: Levels 83-88, Unknown, Zone ID 15355
Harandar is the natural first stop. The zone is built around a giant root system and is full of the tree cover the lore text points you to. Primal Azeroot grows here; the client says gathering a Primal herb grants an extra Skyriding charge, which makes long tree-line loops cheaper to fly. Read our Harandar herbalism guide for the full zone.

Eversong Woods: Levels 80-83, Eastern Kingdoms, Zone ID 15968
Eversong Woods is the lower-level option and the home of Lightfused herbs, which the client says release motes of holy energy and yield extra resources. Our datamine lists a Lightfused Azeroot gathering spell, so expect the golden variant along Eversong's forest edges. See the Eversong Woods herbalism guide.

What to do with your Azeroot
- Check the live strip. If either grade is in the bottom third of its 14-day range, hold the stack for a few days. Azeroot has two demand streams, so dips tend to recover.
- List Silver and Gold separately. A Gold herb listed at the Silver price loses you 17 gold71 silver per herb at 2026-10-08 prices.
- Never vendor it. 11 silver per herb is a tiny fraction of the lowest Silver price in our 14-day history.
- If you run Inscription, price your tools first. A Rootwarden's Lamp or Floratender's Crutch needs 8 Azeroot and one Thalassian Songwater; compare the tool's sale price against 8 times the herb price before you craft.
- Before raid weeks, sell Gold into flask demand. Shattered Sun and Thalassian Resistance crafters buy on the days before a raid reset.
- Keep a few for
Azeroot Tea if you gather a lot. Herb teas are gathering food, and Azeroot Tea needs only 2 herbs and a Mana-Wyrm Essence.
Risks and what to watch on the Auction House
Azeroot's strength is also its risk: because it is valuable in both grades, everyone picks it. Watch these signals:
- The Silver price falling toward its 14-day low. That usually means a wave of new herbalists or alts reaching Harandar. Hold rather than chase the floor down.
- Shattered Sun prices. If the top-grade flask falls, Gold Azeroot demand softens within days.
- Patch notes for Inscription. A new tier of crafted tools can multiply Azeroot demand overnight, since four tool recipes take 8 each and two take 10.
- Lotus price spikes. When
Nocturnal Lotus spikes, some crafters pause flask production, which pulls Gold Azeroot down for a short time.
Three mistakes Azeroot pickers make
The first is skipping Silver nodes because "Silver is trash". That is true for Sanguithorn and close to true for Mana Lily, but Silver Azeroot sold for more than Gold Sanguithorn on most days of our 14-day window. Pick everything.
The second is selling Gold Azeroot the moment you land. Gold has a thinner buyer base than Silver because only top-grade crafters want it. Spread your Gold listings across the week and aim them at the days before raid resets.
The third is ignoring Inscription. If you have a scribe, the tool recipes turn eight herbs into an item that sells to every new crafter on the server. Compare the tool price against the herb bill each week; when the tool wins, craft instead of listing raw herbs.
Is Azeroot worth farming?
Yes, and especially if your Herbalism build is young. It is the only Midnight herb where the Silver grade alone carries a strong price, it has the broadest demand of any herb, and the arithmetic says it out-earns Argentleaf per herb until your Gold share is very high. The one thing we cannot tell you is a rate, because no route has been walked and timed yet. When one has, this page will add it. Until then, fly the tree lines, pick every Azeroot you see, and compare it with the other herbs in our best herb guide. For the rest of the family see Tranquility Bloom, Argentleaf, the Herbalism hub and the retail guides index.

How this guide was written
Prices on this page are read live from TheWoWDB Auction House tables when the page loads. Item names, icons, zones and art come from our own datamine of the game client. We do not publish gold-per-hour numbers for any route nobody has walked and timed, so where a rate would go this page says so. Read the full method or the about page.
