The short answer
Brilliant Silver Ore has the shortest list of direct uses of any Midnight base ore, and yet its Gold grade was the most expensive base ore on the market the day we checked. Right now the Silver grade sells for 5 gold21 silver and the Gold grade for 21 gold31 silver. The reason for that price is one item:
Sterling Alloy. Sterling Alloy goes into nearly every high end Blacksmithing recipe in Midnight, and each alloy eats six silver ore. Sell your silver raw unless you are a Blacksmith who can turn Silver grade inputs into Gold grade alloy, which on our snapshot was the one craft in this chain that paid.
What Brilliant Silver is
Our datamine of the 12.1 client lists two items named Brilliant Silver Ore:
Brilliant Silver Ore at Silver quality and
Brilliant Silver Ore at Gold quality. Both are uncommon mining Trade Goods that vendor for 15 silver. As with every Midnight material, a recipe that asks for the ore accepts either grade, and the grade you feed in pushes the quality of what comes out.
Unlike Refulgent Copper, silver has no smelting recipe of its own. You never turn it into a bar. It goes into recipes raw, and the most important of those recipes is an alloy.
Who buys the ore
The client data shows only three recipes that take Brilliant Silver Ore directly:
| Recipe | Profession | Silver ore per craft | Other reagents |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sterling Alloy | Blacksmithing | 6 | 3 Refulgent Copper Ingot, 4 Luminant Flux |
| Thalassian Skeleton Key | Blacksmithing | 3 | 6 Refulgent Copper Ore |
| Runed Brilliant Silver Rod | Enchanting | 5 | 20 Eversinging Dust, 5 Radiant Shard, 2 Dawn Crystal, 1 Silvermoon Weapon Wrap |
Three recipes, two professions. The Enchanting rod is a one time craft for each enchanter, and the Skeleton Key is a small utility item. That leaves Sterling Alloy as the engine. If Blacksmiths stop making Sterling Alloy, silver has almost nowhere else to go. If they make a lot of it, silver gets expensive fast.
Sterling Alloy, the real buyer
Here is where the demand actually lives. Our datamine lists 56 recipes that consume Sterling Alloy: 51 in Blacksmithing, 4 in Enchanting and 1 in Leatherworking. Crafting each once would use 344 Sterling Alloy. At six ore per alloy that is 2,064 Brilliant Silver Ore, plus 1,032 Refulgent Copper Ingots, before any crafting stat saves a little.
| Group | Example recipes | Sterling Alloy per craft |
|---|---|---|
| Spellbreaker's plate set | Shelter, Mantle, Legguards | 12 |
| Spellbreaker's plate set | Cover, March, Resolve | 10 |
| Shields and accessories | Knight-Commander's Palisade, Murder Row Fishhook, Murder Row Fleet Feet | 10 |
| Spellbreaker's plate set | Girdle, Bracers | 8 |
| Leatherworking profession gear | Sin'dorei Forgemaster's Cover | 10 |
| Crafted weapons | Blood Knight's, Bloomforged, Magister's, Spellbreaker's blades | 6 to 7 |
| Enchanting tools | Animated Sin'dorei Pick, Animated Sin'dorei Hammer | 6 |
| Profession tools | Sun-Blessed and Sunforged tools (16 recipes) | 5 |
| Housing decor | Ren'dorei Anvil, Gilded Silvermoon Anvil, Amani Forgemaster's Rack, Workbench and Decorative Spear | 5 |
| Housing decor | Silvermoon Hangers | 3 |
So one Spellbreaker's Shelter alone needs 72 silver ore through its alloy. A single max level plate wearer gearing up through crafted pieces can pull hundreds of silver ore off the market without ever buying silver directly. That is the hidden demand that keeps the Gold grade high.
The alloy math, worked out
At the prices our tables held on 2026-10-08, here is what one Sterling Alloy cost to make and what it sold for:
| Path | Inputs | Input cost (2026-10-08) | Alloy value (2026-10-08) | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Silver inputs to Silver alloy | 6 ore, 3 ingots, 4 flux | 85 gold29 silver | 65 gold | lose 20 gold29 silver |
| Gold inputs to Gold alloy | 6 ore, 3 ingots, 4 flux | 314 gold10 silver | 163 gold85 silver | lose 150 gold25 silver |
| Silver inputs to Gold alloy | 6 ore, 3 ingots, 4 flux | 85 gold29 silver | 163 gold85 silver | gain 78 gold56 silver |
The Silver input cost breaks down as six ore at 4 gold42 silver, three Silver ingots at 18 gold79 silver and four flux at 60 silver. The ingots are two thirds of the bill, not the silver. That surprises most miners: on that day the copper side of Sterling Alloy cost more than the silver side.
The first two rows say the same thing as the copper ingot math: making an alloy at the same grade as your inputs lost money. The alloy market is set by skilled Blacksmiths who upgrade cheap inputs into Gold quality. If you can do that, the third row is your profit. If you cannot, sell the ore to someone who can.
Smelt, craft or sell: the steps
- Read the live Silver ore price, the live Silver ingot price and the live Silver Sterling Alloy price from the strip.
- Add six ore, three ingots and four flux. If the total is above the Silver alloy price, do not make Silver alloy.
- If you are a Blacksmith, craft a small batch and count how many come out at Gold quality. Multiply that share by the Gold alloy price. If it beats the input cost, keep crafting.
- If you are not a Blacksmith, sell the ore. The Gold grade in particular has steady buyers among alloy crafters.
- Price the ingots both ways before you smelt. On our 2026-10-08 snapshot three bought Silver ingots cost 56 gold37 silver, while the fifteen Silver copper ore and six flux needed to smelt them would have sold for 75 gold60 silver. Buying ingots and selling your copper raw was the cheaper route that day, unless your smelting lands Gold ingots.
The 14-day picture
On 2026-10-08 our tables showed Silver grade silver ore between 2 gold and 4 gold5 silver over the previous two weeks, with the current price at 4 gold42 silver, above the top of the range. The Gold grade ranged from 11 gold25 silver to 25 gold and printed 28 gold. Both grades were at a two week high. Sterling Alloy was calmer: Silver alloy ranged from 51 gold to 66 gold80 silver and Gold alloy from 138 gold96 silver to 162 gold96 silver.
That pattern repeats across Midnight metals. The raw ore swings the most, because miners sell in bursts and alloy crafters buy in bursts. The alloy swings less, because it is made to order by a smaller group of crafters who price it against their own costs. When silver ore breaks above its range while the alloy sits in the middle of its range, Blacksmiths are being squeezed, and they will slow down crafting within a few days. That is your window to sell before the ore price eases back.
Silver grade or Gold grade: what changes for you
On 2026-10-08 the Gold grade was worth about six times the Silver grade: 28 gold against 4 gold42 silver. That ratio is the most important number for a miner deciding whether silver is worth the stop. A deposit that hands you Silver grade ore pays a little. The same deposit at Gold grade pays a lot. Your Mining skill, your specialization points and your tools decide how much of each node lands as Gold.
Here is a simple way to think about it. Say your setup turns one ore in five into Gold grade. Out of ten ore, eight Silver and two Gold would have been worth about 35 gold36 silver and 56 gold on our snapshot day, so the two Gold ore were worth more than the eight Silver ore together. Push that share to one in three and the Gold part of the haul grows again. That is why gearing your Mining setup matters more for silver than for almost any other material: the value sits almost entirely in the upper grade.
The flip side is risk. A thin Gold buyer base can be flooded. If you farm a lot of Gold silver, spread the listings out, and do not chase the price down by large steps.
Silver against the other ores
| Ore | Silver grade now | Gold grade now | Raw recipes in our datamine |
|---|---|---|---|
| Refulgent Copper Ore | 4 gold98 silver | 24 gold36 silver | 5 |
| Brilliant Silver Ore | 5 gold21 silver | 21 gold31 silver | 3 |
| Umbral Tin Ore | 5 gold65 silver | 19 gold60 silver | 6 |
Silver has the fewest direct uses, yet on 2026-10-08 its Gold grade was the priciest base ore of the three, level with Gold tin. That only makes sense once you know Sterling Alloy, and it means silver depends on one crafting chain more than any other ore. Tin feeds Gloaming Alloy the same way; see the Umbral Tin guide. Copper feeds both through its ingot; see the Refulgent Copper guide.
Where to mine it
Miners report Brilliant Silver in all four outdoor Midnight zones. The client data does not tie it to one zone, and we have not walked a timed route yet. The maps below are the datamined zone maps, so you can plan your own loop.

Eversong Woods: Levels 80-83, Eastern Kingdoms, Zone ID 15968

Eversong Woods (levels 80 to 83) is the gentle start. Player reports put Lightfused deposits here, which also drop
Mote of Light.

Zul'Aman: Levels 83-88, Eastern Kingdoms, Zone ID 15947

Zul'Aman (83 to 88) is the zone player reports most often recommend for steady deposit density without Voidstorm's mob pressure.

Harandar: Levels 83-88, Unknown, Zone ID 15355

Voidstorm: Levels 88-90, Unknown, Zone ID 16648
Harandar (83 to 88) and Voidstorm (88 to 90) round out the list. Every base deposit in any zone can also give
Dazzling Thorium; see the Dazzling Thorium guide.

How to sell it
- Never vendor it. 15 silver per ore is almost nothing next to the market.
- Sell the Gold grade in batches across the week; alloy crafters buy steadily, but not in bulk on one day.
- List into two week highs. Silver ore breaks its range often, because alloy demand comes in waves after resets and patches.
- Watch the Sterling Alloy price. When the alloy climbs, ore follows. When the alloy falls and ore stays high, crafting slows and ore will drop.
- Keep a stack if you plan to level Blacksmithing or upgrade profession tools; buying back costs you the Auction House cut.
Is Brilliant Silver worth mining?
Yes, and especially the Gold grade. Silver depends on one chain, but it is a deep chain: 56 recipes and 344 alloys for one craft of each. As long as players craft plate, weapons and profession tools, silver has buyers. The risk is that the chain is narrow. A patch that changes Sterling Alloy, or a slow week in Blacksmithing, hits silver harder than copper or tin. Read the strip, sell into highs, and do not hoard more than you can move. As with every route on this site, the earning rate is not walked yet, so we give you inputs instead of a gold per hour figure. For a ranking of every metal, see which Midnight ore is worth mining right now.
