The short answer
The WoW Forever beta client adds a whole layer of new crafting materials on top of Classic's. We count thirty new materials that new Forever recipes ask for, from low level ores and herbs to endgame bars and essences.
Fel Crystal and
Stranglevine are the famous ones, but they sit at skill 230 and up and nobody on the beta can use them yet. The new materials that matter today are the cheap ones with deep demand:
Cerulean Dye, which appears in 131 recipes and was listed at 1 gold63 silver on 2026-10-08, and
Pristine Leather, in 126 recipes and listed at 52 silver.
The best gold trick on this page is refining. Four new Alchemy and Engineering recipes turn new raw materials into new intermediates, and on the beta every one of them was worth more after refining than before.
Sandpaper, made from two Bauxite and a Bolt of Linen Cloth, was listed at 15 silver.

"Type" is our label. "Lowest recipe skill" is the bottom of the lowest skill range among the recipes that use the material, which is a good guide to when crafters start buying it. Empty price cells mean no player scan has seen the item listed yet.
What the table says
Sort the recipe column in your head and three groups appear.
The workhorses. Cerulean Dye (131 recipes), Pristine Leather (126), Malleable Essence of Nature (97), Magenta Dye (65), Fel Leather (52), Pristine Hide (46), Sulfuric Acid (45) and Heavy Thorium Bar (42). These are the materials whole new crafting sets are built on. Cerulean Dye alone is in 108 Tailoring recipes. If you only learn eight new names, learn these.
The specialists. Fel Crystal, Stranglevine, Torbernite, Demonsage, Marefoil, Pitchblende and Bauxite each appear in two to four recipes, nearly all at skill 230 and above. Their prices will be set by a small number of endgame crafters. Do not stockpile them on spec.
The oddities. Whimsyfin, Golem Isospring and Seasonal Fish Steaks each feed a single recipe. Seasonal Fish Steaks is one of the reagents for the Fishing Hut camp object; our campsite guide covers that.
The other thing the table shows is how far the beta Auction House runs ahead of the client. Frilled Lichen sells to a vendor for 30 copper and was listed at 74 silver. Rosecap sells to a vendor for 95 copper and was listed at 54 silver90 copper. Those are among the largest gaps between vendor value and market value anywhere in our beta scans, and they exist because of the dyes.
Refine or sell: the four new conversions
Four new recipes turn a new raw material into a new intermediate. The maths below uses the lowest scan of each input and output on 2026-10-08, rounded to the silver.
| Conversion | Recipe and skill | Inputs | Input cost on 2026-10-08 | Output on 2026-10-08 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cerulean Dye | Alchemy, 50 to 90 | 2 Frilled Lichen, 1 Empty Vial | about 1 gold30 silver | 1 gold63 silver |
| Magenta Dye | Alchemy, 130 to 155 | 2 Rosecap, 1 Leaded Vial | about 81 silver | 1 gold25 silver |
| Sulfuric Acid | Alchemy, 50 to 90 | 2 Pyrite, 1 Empty Vial | about 2 silver | 4 silver90 copper |
| Sandpaper | Engineering, 130 to 155 | 2 Bauxite, 1 Bolt of Linen Cloth | about 14 silver | 15 silver |
Sandpaper had the widest margin by far: the output was listed at roughly three times the cost of its inputs. Sulfuric Acid came next, at a bit more than double. The two dyes were close to break even on that day, which is what happens when a raw herb is priced almost entirely by the demand for the one thing it makes. Here is how to use that.
- If you are an engineer with Bauxite, make Sandpaper. It feeds 25 new Blacksmithing recipes, mostly the Justicar's, Officer's and Prefect's plate sets.
- If you are an alchemist with Pyrite, make Sulfuric Acid. It feeds 30 Blacksmithing recipes and nine Leatherworking ones.
- If you are a herbalist without Alchemy, sell the herb. Frilled Lichen and Rosecap were priced almost exactly at the dye's value, so you lose nothing by letting an alchemist do the work.
- If you are an alchemist, make the dye only when the gap opens. Watch both strips. When the dye drifts above two lichen plus a vial, craft; when it does not, sell the herb.
Two new leather lines
Leatherworking gets the biggest share of new materials, and they split into two clear lines.
The Pristine line covers the whole levelling range.
Pristine Leather starts at skill 80 and appears in 126 recipes: 80 for Leatherworking, 30 for Blacksmithing and 16 for Tailoring. The Blacksmithing uses are the surprise. New chain armour sets, the Acolyte's, Crusader's and Guard's families among them, ask for two to six Pristine Leather per piece, so a skinner's best customer may be a Blacksmith. Pristine Hide takes over at 190 for the new Mender's and Prowler's leather and mail sets, and Pristine Scale at 235 for top end pieces like the Dragonscale helms.
The Fel line is endgame only. Fel Hide starts at 235 and goes into armour kits and a handful of new pieces. Fel Leather starts at 310 and appears in 52 recipes, with counts as high as 24 per craft for the Grimstitch Pants. Nobody on the beta can make those yet, so no scans exist, but at launch Fel Leather will be the skinning material with the deepest endgame demand.
Malleable Essence of Nature
One new material is in a class of its own.
Malleable Essence of Nature is epic quality, has no vendor value in the client, and appears in 97 recipes, all at skill 310 and above: 42 for Leatherworking, 27 for Blacksmithing, 21 for Tailoring, six for Enchanting and one for Engineering. That makes it the most widely used top end reagent in Forever's new recipes by a distance.
The client does not say where it comes from. Epic reagents in Classic usually came from raids or rare drops, and its icon is a nature cyclone. Whatever the source, a material that nearly a hundred endgame recipes need, with no vendor price to cap it, will be one of the most valuable things on the launch Auction House once characters reach level 60. If you see a source for it during the beta, that is worth noting down.
The cheap new materials worth gathering on the beta
If you are levelling on the beta now, three new materials are within reach and worth picking up.
Pyrite. Low price, but fifteen recipes from skill 50, and the input for Sulfuric Acid. It sells steadily.
Frilled Lichen. The input for Cerulean Dye, and priced like it. One of the most valuable things a low level herbalist can find.
Pristine Leather. The deepest demand of any new material, listed in both beta houses.
Everything else on the list will matter later. For now, these three are the new materials that turn into beta gold.
The endgame bars
Forever adds three new metal bars, all at skill 270 and up, and they are made in three different ways.
- Heavy Thorium Bar comes from smelting
Heavy Thorium Ore, one ore per bar, at Mining 300 to 315. It feeds 42 recipes, 37 of them Blacksmithing. - Azerothium Bar comes from Smelt Azerothium, two Pitchblende and one Coal, at Mining 275. It feeds 14 recipes and the new skill 320 healing weapon enchant.
- Legionite Bar is not smelted at all. It is an Alchemy transmute: one Heavy Thorium Bar and one Fel Crystal. It feeds 22 recipes, and the new Bagh Nakh fist weapon alone asks for ten Legionite, ten Heavy Thorium and ten Azerothium Bars.
That last chain is why Fel Crystal gets so much attention. Every Legionite Bar eats one. A Blacksmith building toward the new endgame weapons needs a steady supply of Fel Crystal through an alchemist, and nothing on the beta can make that happen yet: the beta level cap is 20, rising to 30.
What to do with this before launch
- Learn the workhorse names. Cerulean Dye, Pristine Leather, Sulfuric Acid and Magenta Dye will move from day one, because their recipes start low.
- Pick professions with a conversion. Alchemy turns three new raw materials into intermediates. Engineering turns Bauxite into Sandpaper. Those conversions are where beta margins appeared.
- Do not chase the specialist materials early. Fel Crystal and Stranglevine sound exciting and sell to very few buyers until characters reach the high skill ranges.
- Keep an eye on vendor ceilings. Players report a goblin in the Riverglades selling some of these materials at fixed prices. Our Mister Graphed page covers what that does to their market.
For the scarce subset of these materials and how the Bountiful Harvest perk boosts them, see the scarce materials guide.

How this guide was written
Prices on this page are read live from TheWoWDB Auction House tables when the page loads. Item names, icons, zones and art come from our own datamine of the game client. We do not publish gold-per-hour numbers for any route nobody has walked and timed, so where a rate would go this page says so. WoW Forever is in beta: every fact here is labelled with the client build it was read from and can change before launch. Read the full method or the about page.
