Bountiful Harvest in WoW Forever: Is the Gathering Perk Worth It
The Bountiful Harvest Legacy perk from the WoW Forever beta client, worked examples against Copper Ore, Peacebloom and Light Leather, and why scarce drops decide it.
Lowest buyout from player scans of the WoW Forever beta Auction House, as of beta build 70291. Beta prices are a testing economy and will not carry over to launch. Last verified
The short answer
Yes, if you gather. Bountiful Harvest is a five rank Legacy perk whose client text reads: "You discover 100% more Scarce materials from Mining, Herbalism, and Skinning." It does not touch your ordinary ore, herbs or leather. It boosts the new scarce materials that Forever adds alongside them, and those are where the money is. On 2026-10-08 the beta scans had
Light Leather at 40 copper but
Pristine Leather at 52 silver, and
Peacebloom at 15 copper but
Frilled Lichen at 74 silver. Doubling the expensive half of what you gather is worth more than any other perk a gatherer can buy.
The catch is that the client does not say how often scarce materials drop, or exactly how much each rank gives. So the honest verdict is: the perk targets the right items, the price gap is huge, and the size of the payout is not walked yet.
What the client says
| Field | Value in the client |
|---|---|
| Perk | Bountiful Harvest |
| Trait node | 110291, spell 1225435 |
| Ranks | 5 |
| Cost | 1 Legacy Point per rank |
| Unlock | Open from the start, no points spent needed |
| Text | You discover 100% more Scarce materials from Mining, Herbalism, and Skinning |
| Leads to | Performance Bonus (needs Bountiful Harvest and 5 points spent) |
Two details matter. The perk is open from the very first point, so you can take it the day you earn your first Legacy Point. And because it sits in the same tree as Bartering, the five points you put into it also open up the vendor discount perk, which needs 5 points spent in the tree. Few perks do two jobs like that.
What the text does not say is whether "100%" is the effect of one rank or of all five. Here is what each reading means.
| Ranks bought | If 100% is the full perk (20% per rank) | If 100% is per rank |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 20% more scarce materials | 100% more |
| 3 | 60% more | 300% more |
| 5 | 100% more, double | 500% more |
The left column is the normal way multi rank perks are written, and it is the one we plan around. The right column would be extraordinary, and we would not bet on it. Check the tooltip at rank one in game; it will settle the question in seconds.
What counts as a scarce material
The client does not tag items with the word "scarce", except for one:
Scarce Herb Seeds, whose text says to grow it in a Greenhouse or combine it at a Seed Hybridizer at a camp. To find the rest we looked for materials that are new in Forever, are uncommon quality (green) rather than common, and come in steps for each gathering profession. Three sets fit cleanly, each with three price steps in the client.
| Profession | Low tier | Mid tier | High tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mining | Pyrite, first recipe at skill 50 | Bauxite, first recipe at 130 | Pitchblende, first recipe at 275 |
| Herbalism | Frilled Lichen, first recipe at 50 | Rosecap, first recipe at 130 | Stranglevine, first recipe at 230 |
| Skinning | Pristine Leather, first recipe at 80 | Pristine Hide, first recipe at 190 | Pristine Scale, first recipe at 235 |
The skill numbers are the lowest skill range among the recipes that use each item, and they line up neatly with where you would gather each tier: low tier around the copper, peacebloom and light leather zones, high tier in the endgame. That pairing is our analysis, not a loot table. Which node or creature drops which scarce item is server data and not in the client.
Worked examples at the first tier
This is where the perk earns its points. The first tier of every gathering profession pairs a cheap common item with a scarce one. On 2026-10-08 the beta scans read:
| Common item you gather | Latest beta scan | Scarce item at the same tier | Latest beta scan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Copper Ore | 42 copper | Pyrite | 1 silver69 copper |
| Peacebloom | 15 copper | Frilled Lichen | 74 silver |
| Light Leather | 40 copper | Pristine Leather | 52 silver |
Now the arithmetic, using the snapshot from that day. Bountiful Harvest does nothing to the left column. It only adds to the right.
Mining copper
Copper Ore and Pyrite were close in price on the beta: on 2026-10-08 one Pyrite was worth a little more than one Copper Ore, so each extra Pyrite the perk gives you is worth about one more ore. That is the weakest case of the three, because Pyrite is plentiful on the beta market: it was listed in both houses. For a copper miner, Bountiful Harvest is a modest bonus.
Picking Peacebloom
This is the strongest case on the beta. Frilled Lichen was listed at a price more than two hundred times Peacebloom's on 2026-10-08. Every extra Frilled Lichen was worth about ten full stacks of Peacebloom that day. If even a small share of your herb nodes gives a scarce drop, doubling those drops changes what a low level herbing session is worth.
Skinning for Light Leather
Pristine Leather was listed at well over a hundred times Light Leather's price. It also has the deepest demand of any scarce material in the client: 126 recipes use it, most of them new Blacksmithing chain armour that asks for two to six pieces each. Doubling Pristine Leather is doubling a material that every new Blacksmith on the realm will need.
Bountiful Harvest, first tier gathering in the starting zones
Not walked yet
No hourly gold figure is published here until this route has been walked end to end with a timer and a full loot log. Until then this page gives you the inputs (live prices and what drops) and leaves the arithmetic to you.
Is it worth five points?
Here is the decision as a list, because it depends on how you play.
- You gather on your main. Take all five ranks first. No other perk turns directly into Auction House gold, and these five points also unlock Bartering.
- You gather on an alt only. Legacy is account wide, so the perk helps whichever character gathers. Still take it early.
- You never gather. Skip it. Working Overtime or Well Rested will serve you better, and either one also counts toward the 5 points that unlock Bartering.
- You skin. Take it even if you do nothing else. Pristine Leather's 126 recipes make it the safest scarce material to hold.
The one reason to wait: if the tooltip shows the effect is small per rank and you only have one or two points, the gain from two ranks may be less than one rank of Bartering on a mount. Do the maths with your own drops.
The mid tier and the seeds
The beta level cap is 20, rising to 30 later in the beta, so most testers never reach the mid tier zones. A few mid tier scarce materials still showed up in the scans, and they tell you what the perk will be worth once launch characters move past the starting zones.
Bauxite is the mid tier mining material. Its first recipe sits at skill 130, it makes Engineering's new Sandpaper, and it goes into a necklace enchant. On 2026-10-08 it was listed at 10 silver99 copper, several times what Pyrite fetched.
Rosecap is the mid tier herb, used for Magenta Dye and the same necklace enchant, listed at 54 silver90 copper.
Pristine Hide, the mid tier skinning material, feeds 46 recipes, mostly new Leatherworking sets, and was listed at 2 silver50 copper.
The pattern is the one you would expect from a beta: low tier scarce items are where testers gather, so their supply is highest, and the prices of mid tier items are set by a handful of listings. Do not read the mid tier prices as launch prices. Read them as proof that buyers exist.
Then there is
Scarce Herb Seeds, the only item in the client that carries the word in its name. Its text tells you to grow it in a Greenhouse or combine it at a Seed Hybridizer at a camp, which ties it to the new camp system: the Greenhouse is the Herbalism Tier 2 camp object and the Seed Hybridizer is Tier 3. It was listed at 99 silver99 copper on 2026-10-08. If Bountiful Harvest doubles seed drops for herbalists, it also doubles the input for whatever the Greenhouse grows, which makes the perk worth more to a herbalist who plans to build camps. Our campsite guide prices the camp objects themselves.
What would change the verdict
Three facts we do not have yet would move this from "take it" to "take it first, always" or the other way.
- The drop rate of scarce materials. If scarce drops are rare, doubling them is a small number in absolute terms, however high the price. If they are common, the perk is enormous.
- The per rank value. If one rank gives 20%, a player with two points gets less from this perk than from Bartering on a mount purchase. If one rank gives the full 100%, nothing else comes close.
- Launch supply. With every gatherer on the realm finding scarce items, the price ratios above will compress.
We will add the drop rate here once someone has gathered with a log running and the perk switched on and off.
Selling what the perk gives you
Bountiful Harvest only pays if you sell the scarce materials well. A few habits help.
- List scarce items in small stacks. Crafters buy what a recipe needs: two, four or six at a time. Small stacks sell faster and at better prices than one big stack.
- Watch the second house. Our scans read two beta houses. A scarce item missing from one of them is a chance to set the price there.
- Hold Pristine Leather through launch week. New Blacksmiths need it for the chain sets that start around skill 85. That demand arrives all at once on 2026-11-04.
- Do not vendor scarce items. Their vendor values are tiny: Pristine Leather sells to a vendor for 1 silver25 copper and Pyrite for 1 silver. Even a poor Auction House price beats that.
Where to test it
The beta client ships maps for the starting zones, where the first tier common items grow. These are the natural places to see how often scarce drops appear once you have the perk.

How this guide was written
Prices on this page are read live from TheWoWDB Auction House tables when the page loads. Item names, icons, zones and art come from our own datamine of the game client. We do not publish gold-per-hour numbers for any route nobody has walked and timed, so where a rate would go this page says so. WoW Forever is in beta: every fact here is labelled with the client build it was read from and can change before launch. Read the full method or the about page.
