WoW Forever Bank Slots and Bags: What Storage Costs
Every WoW Forever bag price we can prove from the beta client, crafted bag recipes with reagent bills, the new reagent and profession bags, and the cost per slot.
Lowest buyout from player scans of the WoW Forever beta Auction House, as of beta build 70291. Beta prices are a testing economy and will not carry over to launch. Last verified
The short answer
Storage in WoW Forever comes from two places: bag items you buy or craft, and bank bag slots you unlock at a banker. The bag side is fully in the client. The cheapest vendor bag,
Small Brown Pouch, carries a 5 silver buy price for 6 slots, and the vendor ladder tops out at
Huge Brown Sack, 10 gold for 12 slots. Crafted bags were usually the better deal on the beta: a
Small Silk Pack (10 slots) was listed at 72 silver, a fraction of the cost per slot of the big vendor sack.
The bank side is not. What each extra bank bag slot costs is not in our datamine, so we cannot print it, and we will not fill the gap from memory of another version of the game. Forever also adds something new: a whole line of reagent bags, and tiny four slot profession bags for apprentices.
Vendor bags in the client
These are the general goods bags that Classic's bag vendors sold, with the buy prices and slot counts the beta client gives them.
| Bag | Slots | Client buy price | Cost per slot | Latest beta scan |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small Brown Pouch | 6 | 5 silver | 83 copper | 3 silver |
| Brown Leather Satchel | 8 | 25 silver | 3 silver13 copper | 11 silver |
| Heavy Brown Bag | 10 | 2 gold | 20 silver | 2 gold |
| Huge Brown Sack | 12 | 10 gold | 83 silver33 copper | … |
The cost per slot climbs steeply. The Huge Brown Sack charges about a hundred times more per slot than the Small Brown Pouch. Each step up buys you two slots for a much bigger price, which is why most players stop at the Heavy Brown Bag and look to crafters for anything bigger.
Our creature cache from the beta shows bag vendors by title, including Jonathan Chambers and Pithwick, both listed as Bag Vendor. The cache proves the NPCs exist; it does not tell us what each one stocks.
Crafted bags and their bills
Tailoring and Leatherworking make bags, and on the beta the cloth ones were mostly cheaper than the vendor sacks they compete with. Bills below use the lowest beta scan of each reagent on 2026-10-08.
| Bag | Profession and skill | Slots | Reagents | Bill on 2026-10-08 | Latest beta scan |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Linen Bag | Tailoring 30 to 65 | 6 | 3 Bolt of Linen Cloth, 3 Coarse Thread | 2 silver67 copper | 3 silver |
| Red Linen Bag | Tailoring 75 to 110 | 8 | 4 Bolt of Linen Cloth, Fine Thread, Red Dye | 4 silver35 copper | 4 silver |
| Woolen Bag | Tailoring 75 to 110 | 8 | 3 Bolt of Woolen Cloth, Fine Thread | 11 silver27 copper | 9 silver |
| Small Silk Pack | Tailoring 145 to 175 | 10 | 3 Bolt of Silk Cloth, 2 Heavy Leather, 3 Fine Thread | 64 silver63 copper | 72 silver |
| Green Silk Pack | Tailoring 160 to 190 | 10 | 4 Bolt of Silk Cloth, 3 Heavy Leather, 3 Fine Thread, Green Dye | 91 silver62 copper | 1 gold10 silver |
| Mageweave Bag | Tailoring 205 to 235 | 12 | 4 Bolt of Mageweave, 2 Silken Thread | 3 gold15 silver | 4 gold |
| Runecloth Bag | Tailoring 230 to 260 | 14 | 5 Bolt of Runecloth, 2 Rugged Leather, Rune Thread, 4 Magenta Dye, 2 Cerulean Dye | 8 gold21 silver | … |
| Kodo Hide Bag | Leatherworking 65 to 95 | 6 | 3 Thin Kodo Leather, 4 Light Leather, Coarse Thread | 4 silver52 copper | 4 silver |
Two details stand out. The Woolen Bag was listed below its own bill on the beta, so the Red Linen Bag at the same 8 slots was the smarter craft and the smarter buy. And the Runecloth Bag in Forever asks for four Magenta Dye and two Cerulean Dye, two of the new dyes, which pushed its bill far above the Mageweave Bag's. That is a Forever change worth knowing if you plan to make or buy 14 slot bags at level 60.
The new reagent bags
Forever adds a reagent bag line to Tailoring, plus one for Leatherworking. They sit in a new reagent bag class in the client, separate from normal bags, and they come in the same slot sizes as the normal bag at each tier.
| Reagent bag | Profession and skill | Slots | Key reagents | Bill on 2026-10-08 | Latest beta scan |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Linen Reagent Bag | Tailoring 30 to 65 | 6 | 6 Bolt of Linen Cloth, 6 Coarse Thread | 5 silver34 copper | 5 silver |
| Light Leather Reagent Bag | Leatherworking 40 to 50 | 6 | 8 Light Leather, Cured Light Hide, 3 Coarse Thread | 4 silver49 copper | 10 silver |
| Woolen Reagent Bag | Tailoring 75 to 110 | 8 | 3 Bolt of Woolen Cloth, Fine Thread, Cerulean Dye | 1 gold50 silver | 1 gold89 silver |
| Silk Reagent Bag | Tailoring 135 to 140 | 10 | 3 Bolt of Silk Cloth, 2 Heavy Leather, 3 Fine Thread, 3 Cerulean Dye | 4 gold81 silver | … |
| Mageweave Reagent Bag | Tailoring 205 to 215 | 12 | 4 Bolt of Mageweave, 2 Heavy Silken Thread, Magenta and Cerulean Dye | 5 gold79 silver | 9 gold99 silver |
| Runecloth, Mooncloth and Bottomless Reagent Bags | Tailoring 230 to 345 | 14, 18 and 20 | Runecloth, Mooncloth, new dyes and Pristine materials | not priced, inputs unscanned |
The pattern is clear in the reagents column: from the Woolen Reagent Bag up, every Tailoring reagent bag asks for Cerulean Dye, the new dye made from Frilled Lichen. That one dye is why the Woolen Reagent Bag's bill on the beta was more than ten times the Woolen Bag's. On 2026-10-08 the
Silk Reagent Bag was listed at …, well above its bill, while the
Woolen Reagent Bag sat right at its bill. The Linen and Light Leather reagent bags were listed above their bills too.
The four slot profession bags
The client also has three new apprentice bags, each with a 25 copper buy price and 4 slots, each in a profession bag class:
Apprentice's Herb Pouch for herbs,
Apprentice's Mining Pack for mining and the Apprentice's Skinning Satchel for skinning. Four slots is small, but at that price they are the cheapest slots in the game for a new gatherer. If a trainer or vendor hands them out at level 1, take one.
There are also three "Restored" bags in the client, a Small Brown Pouch, a Brown Leather Satchel and a Heavy Brown Bag, with 6, 8 and 10 slots and a buy price field of only 5 copper each. They are not alone: build 70291 holds a full "Restored" line of about fifty items, from Restored Cloth Helm to Restored Plate Boots, a set of Restored weapons, a Restored Healing Potion and Mana Potion, and these three bags, all with the same 5 copper buy price field and item ids from 281685 to 282017. A matched kit of armour, weapons, potions and bags at a token price reads like a starter or recovery package rather than shop stock, but the client does not say who hands it out, so treat that as our reading. We do not know where they come from yet. And one name to be careful with: the Veteran Adventurer's Rucksack that Blizzard lists in the Skyborne Heroic Pack is, in the client, a cosmetic back item, not a container. It holds nothing.
Bank slots: what we can and cannot say
The bank gives you a fixed set of slots and lets you buy extra bank bag slots from a banker. Our beta creature cache lists the bankers you would expect, from the Montague family (Undercity's bankers in Classic) to Karus, Koma and Soran (Orgrimmar's). What it does not hold is the price table for those extra slots.
- We do not print bank slot prices. They are not in our datamine of the Forever client. When a tester buys one and posts the price window, we will add every slot price here as a coin tag.
- Expect each slot to cost more than the last. That is how the bank worked in Classic Era. Plan for the later slots to be a real expense.
- Fill bank slots with the biggest bags you can afford. A bank bag slot is the expensive part; the bag inside it is cheap by comparison. Put your 10 and 12 slot bags in the bank, not your 6 slot pouches.
Making gold from bags
Bags are one of the few crafted goods every single player buys, which makes them a steady market for Tailors in particular. The beta scans point to where the margins sit.
The Linen and Red Linen Bags are the volume products. Both were listed above their bills on 2026-10-08, they are learned early, and every new character on launch night wants slots. A Tailor who keeps a few of each on the Auction House through launch week will sell them as fast as they can be made.
The Small Silk Pack is the sweet spot. Ten slots, a modest bill and a listing a little above it on the beta. It is the bag most players carry from the mid twenties to forty, so demand lasts for weeks.
The reagent bags are a gamble on demand. They are new, and nobody yet knows how much players will want a bag that holds only reagents. The Silk Reagent Bag's beta listing was far above its bill, which is promising, but it rests on very few sales. Make one or two and watch whether they move before committing a batch.
Do not chase the Huge Brown Sack market. With a 10 gold vendor price for 12 slots, the vendor sack sets a ceiling crafters can easily beat. A Mageweave Bag gives the same 12 slots, and on the beta it was listed well below the sack's vendor price.
Watch the dyes. Cerulean and Magenta Dye now sit inside the Runecloth Bag and most reagent bags. When dye prices move, bag bills move with them. Our new materials guide tracks both dyes and the herbs behind them.
Common storage mistakes
- Buying the biggest vendor bag early. The jump from 10 to 12 slots costs 8 gold extra at the vendor. That money is better spent toward a mount.
- Filling the bank with small bags. Bank bag slots are the expensive part. Give them your biggest bags.
- Hoarding everything. Storage costs gold, and so does a material that loses value while it sits. Sell what you will not use within a week.
A storage plan by level
- Level 1 to 10. Take any free starter bags, and the four slot apprentice bag for your gathering profession if you can get one. Buy Small Brown Pouches only if you have nothing else; they cost 5 silver each.
- Level 10 to 25. Buy crafted Linen or Red Linen Bags from the Auction House. On the beta they were cheaper per slot than any vendor bag above the pouch.
- Level 25 to 40. Move to Small Silk Packs at 10 slots. Do not buy the Huge Brown Sack; at 10 gold for 12 slots it costs about half a basic mount item.
- Level 40 and up. Mageweave Bags, then Runecloth Bags once their dye cost settles. Put the old bags in the bank.
The mount matters more than the bags until level 40. A basic mount item is 20 gold in the client, so every gold spent on oversized storage before then is gold you will miss. Our riding cost guide has the numbers.

How this guide was written
Prices on this page are read live from TheWoWDB Auction House tables when the page loads. Item names, icons, zones and art come from our own datamine of the game client. We do not publish gold-per-hour numbers for any route nobody has walked and timed, so where a rate would go this page says so. WoW Forever is in beta: every fact here is labelled with the client build it was read from and can change before launch. Read the full method or the about page.
