Hunter Solo Farms in WoW Forever: Leather, Meat and Drops
Hunter solo farming on the WoW Forever beta by level band: beasts in the client's creature cache, the leather and meat they give with beta prices, and hunter spell changes.
The short answer
A hunter farms beasts, and beasts pay in two currencies: leather if you skin, and meat whether you skin or not. On the WoW Forever beta the leather ladder climbs fast. On 2026-10-08
Light Leather listed at 40 copper,
Medium Leather at 1 silver50 copper and
Heavy Leather at 8 silver, so each step up multiplied the value of a single skin by roughly five. Meat is the quiet bonus:
Coyote Meat listed at 5 silver, more than three Medium Leather. Take Skinning, farm the highest beasts the beta cap allows, sell leather in bulk and meat to cooks. No route has been walked yet, so there is no rate on this page, only the prices and the plan.
What the client already knows about beasts
The Forever client keeps a cache of creatures it has actually met, and ours holds 760 creatures from build 70124. About 88 of them are beasts or beast-named, and they are almost all from the starting zones, because that is where beta players have been. That gives us a factual list of beasts that exist in Forever right now:
| Starting area (by creature names) | Beasts in the beta creature cache |
|---|---|
| Elwynn Forest | Stonetusk Boar, Timber Wolf, Young Wolf, Mangy Wolf, Prowler, Forest Spider, Mine Spider |
| Dun Morogh | Small, Large and Elder Crag Boar, Ice Claw Bear, Snow Leopard Prowler, Winter Wolf, Snow Tracker Wolf, Wendigo |
| Darkshore and the coast | Thistle Bear, Rabid Thistle Bear, Pygmy Tide Crawler, Encrusted Tide Crawler, Young Reef Crawler |
| Tirisfal and Silverpine | Greater Duskbat, Vampiric Duskbat, Worg, Mottled Worg |
| Loch Modan | Mountain Buzzard |
The zone grouping is ours, made from the creature names and where those creatures lived in Classic; the cache does not record locations. As the beta cap rises, the cache will fill with higher level beasts and we will extend this table.

Elwynn Forest: Eastern Kingdoms, Zone ID 12
The leather ladder
Skinning is the hunter's natural partner, and the price of leather jumps at every tier. Our profession extract does not hold gathering skill ranges for Skinning, so the level bands below are the Classic pattern for which leather comes off which level of beast.
Lowest buyout from player scans of the WoW Forever beta Auction House, as of beta build 70291. Beta prices are a testing economy and will not carry over to launch. Last verified
| Beast level (Classic pattern) | Leather | Lowest beta listing on 2026-10-08 | Listed | Value against the tier below |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 to 15 | Light Leather | 33 copper | about 11,400 | |
| 15 to 25 | Medium Leather | 1 silver60 copper | about 11,100 | 4.8 times Light |
| 25 to 35 | Heavy Leather | 8 silver39 copper | about 7,100 | 5.2 times Medium |
| 35 to 45 | Thick Leather | 38 silver | about 560 | 4.5 times Heavy |
| 45 and up | Rugged Leather | 5 silver | about 110 | thin market |
This is the core number for a beta hunter. Each tier of leather was worth roughly five times the tier below it. On the beta, where you can reach the twenties and later the thirties, that means Heavy Leather is the target: one Heavy Leather was worth more than five Medium Leather on 2026-10-08. The Thick and Rugged rows are thin because almost nobody can skin those beasts yet; Rugged at 5 silver is below Thick, which only tells you the market there does not exist yet.
Hides are the rare skinning bonus.
Medium Hide listed at 5 silver23 copper, worth about three and a half Medium Leather, and
Heavy Hide at 20 silver89 copper, about two Heavy Leather.
Ruined Leather Scraps listed at 10 copper with more than 7,000 on the market: sell them in big stacks or not at all.
The meat ladder
Meat drops whether or not you skin, and cooks buy it. Prices on the beta vary much more than leather, because each meat feeds a few specific recipes.

| Meat | Beasts (Classic) | Lowest beta listing on 2026-10-08 | Listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stringy Wolf Meat | Young wolves | 37 copper | about 1,200 |
| Chunk of Boar Meat | Boars | 23 copper | about 510 |
| Coyote Meat | Coyotes | 5 silver95 copper | about 260 |
| Crawler Meat | Crawlers | 1 silver39 copper | about 350 |
| Big Bear Meat | Bears | 75 copper | about 770 |
| Lion Meat | Lions | 2 silver94 copper | about 400 |
| Turtle Meat | Turtles | 4 silver | about 700 |
| Raptor Flesh | Raptors | 4 silver | about 420 |
| Tiger Meat | Tigers | 4 silver90 copper | about 140 |
Two things jump out. Coyote Meat was the most valuable low level meat by far, at 5 silver with only about 260 listed, worth sixteen Stringy Wolf Meat. And the higher meats, Turtle, Raptor and Tiger at four to five silver, were each worth about half a Heavy Leather. A hunter skinning raptors or tigers in the thirties gets paid twice per kill: once in leather, once in meat.
New in Forever: Skinning camp objects
The Forever client gives Skinning its own camp objects, built from the leather you farm:
| Camp object | Reagents in the client | Skill | Blueprint on the beta, 2026-10-08 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Camp Chair | 3 Light Leather, 2 Simple Wood | 20 to 25 | not listed |
| Field Guide | 3 Medium Leather, 2 Slimy Murloc Scale, 1 Fine Thread | 140 to 145 | 30 silver |
| Trapper's Workbench | 2 Simple Wood, 4 Heavy Leather, 1 Iron Bar | 300 | 3 gold |
The
Blueprint: Trapper's Workbench blueprint at 3 gold81 silver was worth about 36 Heavy Leather on 2026-10-08. Blueprints carry no binding flag in the beta client, so they trade freely and are a hunter's best single drop if one turns up; we have not confirmed where they drop. The camp objects also give your own leather a small extra sink.
What changed for hunters in the client
Our diff of the beta client against Classic Era shows several hunter changes that matter for solo farming. We report the data, not how it plays.
- Multi-Shot now shares its cooldown with Aimed Shot, according to its new tooltip, and the client removes the separate rank 2 to 5 rows.
- Volley is rebuilt the same way as the mage's Blizzard: its damage now comes from a separate spell, with the old per-second coefficient field moving from 0.056 to 0.03.
- Aspect of the Beast now increases melee attack power (by 50 on rank 1) on top of making you untrackable, and two new ranks are added.
- Feign Death has a new tooltip line: if you do not cancel it, after its duration you actually die. Do not fall asleep at the keyboard mid-feign.
- Freezing, Explosive and Frost Trap have changed effect data and the client removes a set of old trap rows.
- New talents: our talent extract shows Survival gaining Strider Kick and ending on Lacerating Strikes, and Marksmanship ending on Sniper Shot.
For a solo farmer, the Multi-Shot change is the one to note: if it shares a cooldown with Aimed Shot, you cannot chain both on the same pull. The rest are quality-of-life or need testing.
Sell raw, or work the leather yourself
A hunter with Skinning has a choice every time the bags fill: sell the leather and meat as they are, or pair Skinning with a second profession that turns them into something else. Here is how we would decide on the beta.
Sell raw if you are a pure gatherer. Leather in the beta's band has deep, liquid markets: more than 11,000 Light and Medium Leather and about 7,100 Heavy Leather were listed on 2026-10-08. You will always find a buyer, and you will never have to guess what a crafted item is worth.
Pair Skinning with Leatherworking if you want to sell finished goods or level a crafting profession cheaply. Every skin you take is a reagent you do not have to buy, and Forever adds new Leatherworking sets that use elemental reagents as well as leather. The trade-off is that you give up a second gathering profession, and finished green gear on the beta sold close to vendor value more often than not.
Pair Skinning with Cooking if your beasts drop good meat. In Classic, Cooking was a secondary profession that cost you no slot. Coyote, Turtle, Raptor and Tiger meat all sold for real silver on the beta, and a hunter who cooks can choose between selling the meat raw to cooks or selling the finished food to players levelling.
Our default for a beta hunter is Skinning plus a second gathering profession, with Cooking on the side. It keeps every drop sellable, it keeps the session simple, and it lets you change plans once the launch market shows which crafted goods are actually worth making.
A hunter solo session on the beta, step by step
- Train Skinning before you leave your starting zone. Leather is half your income.
- Farm the highest beasts the beta cap allows. Heavy Leather was worth more than five Medium Leather on 2026-10-08.
- Pick beasts with valuable meat when you can. Coyotes in the teens and turtles, raptors and tigers higher up pay twice per kill.
- Let the pet tank. A hunter's advantage is killing safely without a group, which keeps the session going.
- Bank hides and blueprints separately. They are the rare, valuable drops.
- Sell leather in large stacks. Light and Medium Leather each had more than 11,000 listed.
- Sell meat to cooks rather than to vendors.

Where to farm by level band
These are Classic beast zones in the beta's range. We have not walked them in Forever.

Westfall: Eastern Kingdoms, Zone ID 40
Westfall's coyotes and boars cover the teens; Coyote Meat was the standout low level meat on the beta.

Darkshore: Kalimdor, Zone ID 148
Darkshore's bears and crawlers fill the teens on the Kalimdor side.

Stranglethorn Vale: Eastern Kingdoms, Zone ID 33
Northern Stranglethorn's tigers and raptors are the top of the beta band, with Heavy Leather and four-silver meat.

Dun Morogh: Eastern Kingdoms, Zone ID 1
- Level
- 10 to 30 on the beta (cap 20, rising to 30)
- Class
- Hunter (any class can skin; hunters do it safest solo)
- Group
- Solo
- Profession
- Skinning; Leatherworking or Cooking to use your own drops
What to watch
- Heavy Leather. The best leather you can reach on the beta, with about 7,100 listed. Watch the floor as more hunters hit the thirties.
- Thick Leather at launch. Thin on the beta. It will fall once supply arrives.
- Coyote Meat. An odd high price for a low level meat; it may not last.
- Multi-Shot tooltip. If the shared cooldown holds, AoE-style hunter farms built on Multi-Shot need rethinking.
Is hunter solo farming worth it in Forever?
Yes, as a steady, safe farm that pays at every level: leather multiplies in value about five times per tier, meat pays on every kill, and Forever adds camp objects that use your own leather. The unknowns are the spell changes and the drop rates, neither of which we have tested. No route has been walked, so no rate is printed here.

How this guide was written
Prices on this page are read live from TheWoWDB Auction House tables when the page loads. Item names, icons, zones and art come from our own datamine of the game client. We do not publish gold-per-hour numbers for any route nobody has walked and timed, so where a rate would go this page says so. WoW Forever is in beta: every fact here is labelled with the client build it was read from and can change before launch. Read the full method or the about page.
