Prospecting and crushing never show up in a craft calculator, because the output is random. CraftSim does not price them either. You do that math yourself, below.
Set up: two tools, stats before skill

Enchant Tool - Amani Resourcefulness on your first tool. Prospecting and crushing cannot multicraft, so resourcefulness is the only stat that saves ore. - Put Enchant Tool - Haranir Multicrafting on a second tool for crafting. Vials and gems can multicraft, and every proc is free product.
- Spend 15 points to open Thoughtful Throughput. If you prospect, rush its resourcefulness node first. Maxing both resourcefulness and multicraft there costs 75 points.
- Leave skill nodes for last. Skill adds nothing until it reaches the threshold for guaranteed rank 2 on a recipe, and until then stats pay you on every craft.
- Swap tools before each job: resourcefulness to prospect or crush, multicraft to craft.
Knowledge points will not cover both the prospecting build and the gem or reagent build for weeks. If you are serious, level a second jewelcrafter: one prospects and crushes, the other crafts. Each needs its own pair of tools.

Sunglass Vial: craft rank 2 only

The Sunglass Vial goes into high-end potions and flasks. Rank 1 is sold by a vendor, so a crafted rank 1 vial is worth vendor price. Rank 2 is the one alchemists buy all expansion.
- Learn the vial, then spend Material Manufacturer points on reagent skill once your stat nodes are done.
- Equip the multicraft tool. Each vial takes 5 rank 2 glass.
- Since patch 12.1 you can convert 10 rank 1 glass into 1 rank 2 glass, and that conversion can proc multicraft and resourcefulness. Price both routes before you buy glass.
- Post in stacks your realm buys in a day, and repost as they sell.
- If you also run an alchemist, compare your vial cost with the lowest listing. Use your own vials only when they are cheaper. The Midnight alchemy guide covers the potion side.

The 12.1 conversion made rank 2 glass easier to get, so vial prices dropped from their launch level. The rank gap is still wide, which is why the vial ranks first. The Sin'dorei Lens uses the same glass but sells in smaller numbers.
Prospecting and crushing: price it yourself

- In Proficient Processor, take the per-ore prospecting nodes for the ores you buy. They add the chance to find an Eversong Diamond.
- Max the final prospecting node, which gives a chance of an extra gem whenever a gem is found.
- Take the matching crushing branch if you crush. Again, stats first, skill later.
- Prospect one full stack of a single ore type and write down every output. Value them with the tables on this page and compare that with what the stack cost.
- Repeat for each ore and keep only the ones that come out ahead. Rerun the test when prices move more than about 20 percent.
Ore prices swing hard after patch days and weekends. The method holds up all expansion as long as you recheck the spread, not the ore price alone.
Cut gems: time the demand
Prospecting gives four uncut colours: 
Sanguine Garnet, 
Amani Lapis, 
Tenebrous Amethyst and 
Harandar Peridot, plus Flawless versions of each. Each cuts into Deadly, Quick, Masterful and Versatile gems. The Eversong Diamond cuts into the epic gems every player wants one of.
- In Glamorous Gems, put 30 points in the main node, 25 in one colour and 15 in one gem. That is about 70 points for guaranteed rank 2 on a single gem, and about 145 with maxed stats.
- Spec one gem at a time, starting with the stat most classes want this season.
- Craft 3 to 5 of each gem, post them, and see how fast they sell. Scale only the ones that move. Never craft 200 overnight.
- Stock up before a raid tier, a Mythic+ season start or a patch. Everyone regems then, and demand is low in the weeks between.

- Spend your Moxie every week on
Master Jewelcrafter's Surplus Reagents. Open it and sell the contents, or feed them into the chain.
When it stops working
- If 5 rank 2 glass cost more than one rank 2 vial sells for, stop crafting vials and sell the glass.
- If a full ore stack returns less than it cost twice in a row, stop prospecting that ore.
- If a gem sits unsold for three days at the lowest price, stop crafting it until the next season start.
Weekly checklist
- Collect weekly knowledge points and spend them on stats before skill.
- Check the vial and glass rows above, then craft vials.
- Prospect one test stack of the cheapest ore.
- Repost gems in small numbers.
- Spend concentration and Moxie.
Questions
Is Jewelcrafting profitable in Midnight Season 2?
Yes, if you run the chain yourself. The rank 2 Sunglass Vial has steady demand, and prospecting pays when you check ore against its outputs. Buying every input from the auction house and crafting gems leaves little margin.
Which Sunglass Vial rank should I craft?
Rank 2 only. Rank 1 is sold by a vendor, so nobody pays more than vendor price for it.
Can prospecting multicraft?
No. Prospecting and crushing only benefit from resourcefulness, so use a separate resourcefulness tool for them and a multicraft tool for crafting.
Do I need two jewelcrafters?
Not at first. Knowledge points cannot cover both the prospecting build and the crafting build for weeks, so a second jewelcrafter lets you run both halves of the chain sooner.
