Alchemy crafts stack up today, from our US auction house snapshot:
Nothing in Alchemy turns a profit today if you buy every reagent at the auction house. Crafting only pays here with your own gathered materials, concentration or multicraft procs. These are the closest to break-even:

The build: multicraft first, one line at a time

- Equip a multicraft tool and enchant it with multicraft. Use it for anything that shows "Multicraft" in the craft details. A

Sin'dorei Alchemist's Mixing Rod is the target; a
Hobbyist Alchemist's Mixing Rod gets you started. - Pick ONE line: light potions, void potions, flasks or phials. The trees mirror each other, so the pattern is the same.
- Spend the minimum (10, then 10) to reach the sub-specialization, then max its multicraft node, such as

Prolific Potioneer - Light or
Prolific Potioneer - Void for potions. - Next, take resourcefulness in the

Alchemical Mastery tree. Around 70 points in total maxes the stats for one line. - Only then buy skill nodes toward guaranteed rank 2.
- Collect knowledge from first-time treasures, first crafts, the weekly quest, weekly treasures and patron orders.
Stay in one line until it is maxed. Half-built in two lines loses to fully built in one.
Concentration: the Sunglass Vial gap
Most of alchemy's concentration value sits in ![]()
Sunglass Vial
. Rank 1 is a cheap vendor item; rank 2 is crafted by jewelcrafters and costs far more. Concentration lets you hit rank 2 potions without the rank 2 vial, and that gap is your profit.

- Spend concentration mainly on

Potion of Recklessness
at rank 2. - Craft when the bar is full, about 3 crafts per character, then log the next alt.
- Rank every recipe by gold per concentration point, not profit per craft. CraftSim's Recipe Scan does this.
- Pair with a jewelcrafter. Cheaper rank 2 vials lift every potion and flask margin.
In 12.1, jewelcrafters can convert ten rank 1 glass into one rank 2 glass, so rank 2 vials get cheaper and the concentration gap shrinks. It shrinks, it does not vanish. The 12.1 PTR also added a new healing potion that uses 25 of the old healing potion as a reagent, which gives old potions a second buyer if the new one sees use.
Cooldown transmutes
The old unlimited transmute is gone. Transmutes now run on cooldowns, which suits an alt that logs in once a day.
- Rush the transmute node that adds multicraft and extra yield.
- For rank 2 output with concentration, take

Inspired Transmutation. It adds ingenuity and a finishing-reagent slot. - Take resourcefulness in Alchemical Mastery.
- Fill the recharge node so

Wondrous Synergist
stores up to four crafts instead of one. - Run the mote transmute whenever it is off cooldown. It turns ten motes into eight, but multicraft can return far more.

Wondrous Synergist goes into housing decor recipes, so its price follows decor demand. Mote prices are in the herbalism guide.
Moxie and patron orders
Fill patron orders even when they only break even: they pay knowledge and Moxie. Spend Moxie weekly on ![]()
Master Alchemist's Surplus Reagents at the vendor near the trainers. The full routine is in the weekly checklist.
A daily alchemist session
- Check the crafts table and the potion table. Note what is above its 7-day median.
- Run

Wondrous Synergist
and the mote transmute if they are off cooldown. - Buy herbs and vials with an Auctionator shopping list built from your CraftSim queue.
- Craft the rank 1 potions that lead today, from the CraftSim queue so reagent quality is right.
- Spend full concentration bars on your main and alts, then log out.
Buy reagents from the queue, not by eye: manipulated single listings can make a recipe look profitable when it is not. CraftSim set to a TSM price source avoids most of that.
Selling
- Craft a few hundred rank 1 potions and drip-post them; do not dump the full batch at once.
- Post before raid nights and on reset day, when demand refreshes.
- Test a new potion or phial in a small batch, check its sell-through the next day, then scale.
How this ages
![]()
Alchemy stays in demand all expansion, because consumables are used up. Margins do not: concentration armies flood rank 2 supply, and the 12.1 glass change cuts the vial gap. Watch the change column on the potion table and move lines when your margin thins. Herb prices, your main cost, are in the herbalism guide.
Questions
Is Alchemy good for gold in Midnight Season 2?
Yes, especially for concentration on potions and bulk rank 1 potions. It is crowded, so build multicraft first and commit to one line.
Which alchemy line should I pick?
Potions for most players: health, mana and the current combat potions sell every raid night. Phials are a solid second line. Flasks have been weak this expansion.
Why pair Alchemy with Jewelcrafting?
Rank 2 Sunglass Vials come from jewelcrafters and drive the cost of rank 2 potions and flasks. Making your own vials lifts every margin.
Is Wondrous Synergist worth crafting?
Run it every time the cooldown is up; it costs a few clicks. Its price follows housing decor demand, so check today's price before you store stacks.
