Numbers on this page are computed from the Retail (Midnight) client, build 12.0.7.68887. Applies to live retail realms.
Draft in review. This route is computed and verified against the game client, but the writing has not had its final editorial pass, and the page is kept out of search until it does.
Midnight Enchanting runs from skill 1 to 100 in exactly two recipes, roughly 135 crafts on average. This guide gives you the bracket route, the craft counts computed from the current live build, and a shopping list with the usual RNG buffer already added.
Enchanting works differently from the other professions in this expansion. Most of its recipes do not produce an item at all. They are Enchant spells that apply straight to a piece of gear, so the route below is built entirely from reagent thresholds, not from anything that lands in your bags.
What you need
Two recipes cover the whole climb. The first, Oil of Dawn, is a normal crafted item. The second, Enchant Weapon - Acuity of the Ren'dorei, has no crafted item output at all. It is one of the "Enchant X" recipes that consumes reagents and applies its effect directly to a weapon in your bags, so you need a weapon on hand before you queue it up.
The full reagent list is Eversinging Dust, Sunglass Vial, Radiant Shard, Dawn Crystal, and Flawless Tenebrous Amethyst. Buy them from the shopping list at the bottom before you start; the second bracket in particular does not use cheap trade goods.
Knowledge Points and specialization trees affect how fast you gain skill and which recipes you unlock in this expansion, but this guide only covers the crafting route itself. We do not hold specialization data for this profession, so if you want tree advice, check your in-game Profession page rather than trusting a guess here.
How the craft counts work
A recipe gives a guaranteed skill point while it is orange, a shrinking chance while it is yellow, and nothing once it goes gray. The expected craft counts below come from that math applied to each recipe's actual color window in the live game data. Expected means average; half of all runs need more. The Buy column adds about 20% on top, and the shopping list uses those buffered numbers.
The route
0-85: Oil of Dawn
Craft Oil of Dawn from skill 1 to 85. It is guaranteed all the way to 70, then turns yellow and grays out at 85, so the last 15 points carry the RNG. It is the only recipe you need for the first 85 points.
| Material | Per craft | Expected (120 crafts) | Buy (+20%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eversinging Dust | 5 | 600 | 720 |
| Sunglass Vial | 1 | 120 | 144 |
85-100: Enchant Weapon - Acuity of the Ren'dorei
Learn Enchant Weapon - Acuity of the Ren'dorei at 85 and ride it to 100. It stays orange for the entire bracket, so every craft is a guaranteed point and the buffer here only covers the margin for error, not real RNG risk. Because this recipe applies to a weapon instead of producing an item, keep a spare weapon in your bags for each cast rather than stockpiling the output.
| Material | Per craft | Expected (15 crafts) | Buy (+20%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eversinging Dust | 20 | 300 | 360 |
| Radiant Shard | 10 | 150 | 180 |
| Dawn Crystal | 3 | 45 | 54 |
| Flawless Tenebrous Amethyst | 1 | 15 | 18 |
Total shopping list
Buffered quantities, so this list already includes the roughly 20% RNG cushion.
| Material | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Eversinging Dust | 1080 |
| Sunglass Vial | 144 |
| Radiant Shard | 180 |
| Dawn Crystal | 54 |
| Flawless Tenebrous Amethyst | 18 |
Why this route only has two recipes
Classic-era profession guides run through ten or more brackets. This one does not, and that is a real property of Midnight's recipe design rather than something we trimmed. A number of Midnight recipes carry very wide color windows, some staying orange across almost the entire 1-99 range, so the fastest path from 0 to 100 genuinely needs only two recipes to cover it.
The second bracket is also not the cheapest recipe available at skill 85. We checked every Midnight Enchanting recipe that opens at that skill for one with common, easy-to-source reagents in every slot, and none exists. Enchant Weapon - Acuity of the Ren'dorei was the best recipe that still carries you cleanly to 100 in one bracket, which is why its reagent list leans on shards and crystals instead of basic trade goods. Budget for that before you reach 85.
FAQ
How many crafts does it take to level Enchanting from 1 to 100? Around 135 crafts on average across the two recipes in this route. RNG in the yellow window of the first recipe means your run can land higher, which is why the shopping list carries a 20% buffer.
Why does the second bracket only have one recipe option? Enchant Weapon - Acuity of the Ren'dorei stays orange for the entire 85-100 range in the live data, so switching recipes partway through would not save any crafts. It was also the recipe with the widest color window available at skill 85, which is why it was chosen over recipes with cheaper reagents.
What happens to Enchant Weapon - Acuity of the Ren'dorei if it does not create an item? It is an apply-enchant recipe, not a crafted-item recipe. Casting it consumes the listed reagents and applies its effect directly to a weapon you have in your bags, the same way any weapon enchant works. Nothing is added to your inventory as a separate item.
Do Knowledge Points or specialization choices change this route? They can change how fast you gain skill and which recipes you have access to, but we do not hold specialization data for Enchanting, so this guide does not guess at tree picks. Check your Profession page in game for that layer; the route above covers the crafting side only.
Can I substitute a cheaper recipe in the 85-100 bracket? None of the other Midnight Enchanting recipes available at skill 85 had fully common reagents either, and none covered as much of the 85-100 range in one recipe. If you already hold a large stock of a different recipe's reagents, it is worth checking its color window before switching, but Acuity of the Ren'dorei was the best clean option in the live data.
When this guide changes
This route is computed from the live retail build 12.0.7.68887, Midnight Enchanting tier. If a future patch changes recipe thresholds, reagent quantities, or adds new recipes to this tier, the numbers here get recomputed and the update noted.
