What to run, in order
| # | Method | Best for | Needs | Effort | Reported yield |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Disenchant epics | Mains doing raids, Mythic+, delves | Passive | 1.1k to 2k per Dawn Crystal at launch; far lower now | |
| 2 | Enchant scrolls in batches | Enchanters who log in daily | Vellum, full resourcefulness gear | A few minutes a day | 10g to 56g profit per enchant |
| 3 | Concentration on Dawn Crystal recipes | Concentration alts | Recipes that use rank 2 crystals | Every few days | At least about 150g per crystal saved |
| 4 | Blood elf crystal trick | Blood elf enchanters | Mentor's Helpful Handiwork | Per craft | Pays only when the price gap allows |
| 5 | Weekly Moxie bag | Every enchanter | Patron orders | Weekly | About 8,300g; one bag gave just over 13,000g |
| 6 | Radiant Shatter | Enchanters who already own the gear | Skill 100, resourcefulness tool, shatter node | AFK | About 2g per click |
Reported yield: creator estimates, see sources.
Who should skip it: players who only log in for a raid night. Disenchanting still suits them, but the scroll business needs a daily check, because a batch that goes unwatched gets undercut within hours.

- Learn

Enchanting on your main. Disenchanting needs no leveling. - In the disenchanting specialization (

Disenchanting Delegate), take the epic crystal node first. Then take the shard or dust node, whichever sells better in the table below. - Buy a cheap green enchanting tool (+8 skill). Skill raises your chance of rank 2 output; no other stat matters for disenchanting. A blue tool adds +18, but only buy it when it is cheap.
- Loot everything in delves, dungeons, raids and world quests. Disenchant every epic.
- Vendor greens and blues unless a shard or dust sells for more than the item's vendor price.
- Sell crystals raw. Crafting with them is a separate business.

Dawn Crystals fell from four figures at launch to a fraction of that as more players disenchanted. The rule has not changed: epics only.

- Wear full resourcefulness gear and use the crafting buff before you start.
- Buy

Enchanting Vellum from the vendor in sensible amounts. A stack caps at 1,000, so buy what you will use in a week or two. - Scan with CraftSim, then craft 40 of the enchant with the best profit.
- List them. If all 40 sell, craft 40 more. If they stall, move to the next enchant.
- Run undercut scans morning and evening and repost.

Enchanting is crowded; listings you do not check go stale fast. - Keep cheap enchants posted in volume (100 to 200 at a time) for small, steady profit each.

Each enchant here is one rank of the scroll; the craft table above shows which ones profit today. Oils such as ![]()
Thalassian Phoenix Oil
sell too, but an oil-only spec underperformed, so treat oils as a side line.

Many high-end enchants call for two rank 2 Dawn Crystals. A blood elf enchanter can use one rank 1 and one rank 2 crystal and cover the missing skill with ![]()
Mentor's Helpful Handiwork. Other races come up one skill point short.
- Subtract the rank 1 Dawn Crystal price from the rank 2 price in the table above.
- Compare that gap with the Handiwork price below.
- Use the trick only when the Handiwork costs less than the gap. Otherwise craft with two rank 2 crystals.

Patron orders also reward Handiwork, so an enchanter who fills orders often has some for free.
Concentration: only on Dawn Crystal recipes

![]()
Enchanting concentration is worth almost exactly the rank 1 to rank 2 Dawn Crystal gap. Shard and dust gaps are too slim to bother. Spend concentration on recipes that consume rank 2 crystals, pick the ones where your skill brings the concentration cost lowest, and let it refill. The gold making hub explains the price-gap math.
Radiant Shatter: only if the numbers still work
Shatter turns a Radiant Shard into three Eversinging Dust, and resourcefulness sometimes returns the shard. Shattering Dawn Crystals is not worth it.
- Check the math first: three dust must sell for more than one shard. The shard and dust rows above show it.
- You need

Enchanting at 100, a blue resourcefulness tool with
Enchant Tool - Amani Resourcefulness, a blue accessory and 30 points in the resourcefulness node. - Take the shatter buff node in

Spellbound Shatterer: the buff lasts 10 minutes, 15 at 30 of 30. - Use a repeat-craft addon and let it run.
Only do this if you already own the gear. Buying it for a margin this thin takes weeks to pay back.
Old-expansion angle: Gleaming Shard
![]()
Gleaming Shard from The War Within is in demand from housing decor recipes, and supply dried up. If you still have War Within ![]()
Enchanting, compare the Gleaming Shard price below with the cost of a cheap War Within craft that disenchants into it. ![]()
Storm Dust comes along too. Expect this to crowd once more players notice.

Patron orders and the weekly bag
- Pick up the weekly profession quest first, so the orders you fill count toward it.
- Fill enchanting patron orders on reset day. Many cost nothing and pay rewards such as

Void-Touched Augment Rune. Check which reagents the patron supplies before you accept, and skip orders that ask for your own rank 2 crystals unless the reward covers them. - Spend Moxie on

Master Enchanter's Surplus Reagents every week. Its main value is Dawn Crystals.
When it stops working
- If an item's vendor price beats its disenchant value, vendor it.
- If a 40-scroll batch does not sell in two days, switch enchants.
- If three dust are worth less than one shard, stop shattering.
Weekly checklist
- Disenchant the week's epics and sell the crystals.
- Craft and repost one batch of scrolls per day.
- Patron orders, weekly quest, Moxie bag.
- Spend concentration on a Dawn Crystal recipe.
Questions
Is disenchanting worth it in Midnight?
For epics, yes: they give Dawn Crystals. Greens and blues give shards and dust worth about their vendor price, so vendor those instead.
Which stats matter for disenchanting?
Only skill. It raises the chance of rank 2 output. A cheap green tool with +8 skill is enough to start.
How many Enchanting Vellum should I buy?
Only what you will use in a week or two. A stack caps at 1,000, and overbuying ties up gold for nothing.
What is the blood elf Dawn Crystal trick?
Blood elves can use one rank 1 and one rank 2 Dawn Crystal plus a Mentor's Helpful Handiwork instead of two rank 2 crystals. It pays only when the Handiwork costs less than the crystal price gap.
Changelog
- Rewritten for Season 2 / 12.1 and merged with the disenchanting guide: live crystal, enchant and shatter tables.
- Added item tooltips and more in-game art.
