Numbers on this page are computed from the Retail (Midnight) client, build 12.0.7.68887. Applies to live retail realms.
Draft in review. This route is computed and verified against the game client, but the writing has not had its final editorial pass, and the page is kept out of search until it does.
Midnight Jewelcrafting levels from 1 to 100 on a single recipe. That is not a simplification for the guide, it is what the current game data shows: one craft covers the entire skill range, and this page gives you the expected craft count, the RNG buffer on top of it, and the exact shopping list.
This route is computed from the Midnight Jewelcrafting skill tier on live client build 12.0.7.68887. Retail professions use a 1-100 skill scale for the current expansion tier rather than the 1-600 scale Classic and MoP Classic use, so the numbers here are not comparable to those guides.
What you need
Jewelcrafting is trained and the Midnight tier unlocks like any current-expansion profession. Beyond that, this route needs exactly two reagents, both listed below with buffered quantities.
Retail professions also carry a Knowledge Point and specialization system that affects recipe quality and unlocks. This guide covers the crafting route only, the data behind it does not include the specialization trees, so for talent and Knowledge Point choices check your in-game profession page rather than relying on advice invented for this guide.
How the craft counts work
A recipe is orange, meaning a guaranteed skill point, while your skill is below its trivial-low threshold. Between trivial-low and trivial-high, each craft has a shrinking chance to give a point, and at trivial-high it gives nothing. The expected crafts figure is the mathematical expectation for the bracket, computed from the recipe's real trivial-low and trivial-high values in the client data. The buy column adds 20 percent on top, because expectation is an average and a single run will not land exactly on it.
The route
0-100: Brilliant Phoenix Harp
Brilliant Phoenix Harp is orange from skill 0 to 85 and yellow from 85 to 100, so the large majority of this route is guaranteed points. It is the only recipe this route needs. The Midnight Jewelcrafting tier holds 77 recipes in total, but the greedy path that reaches skill 100 with the fewest crafts only ever needs this one, because its trivial-high already reaches 100.
The crafted item is a housing decoration, not a wearable, so nothing about this route depends on gear slots or item level.
| Material | Per craft | Expected (135 crafts) | Buy (+20%) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glimmering Gemdust | 20 | 2,700 | 3,240 |
| Duskshrouded Stone | 20 | 2,700 | 3,240 |
Total shopping list
Buffered quantities, so this list already carries the roughly 20 percent RNG cushion. Because the whole route is one bracket, the shopping list is identical to the bracket table above.
| Material | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Glimmering Gemdust | 3,240 |
| Duskshrouded Stone | 3,240 |
Why this route looks different from classic leveling guides
Midnight is a new tier and there is no established published route to compare this against, so this section covers the one thing in the data worth flagging instead: the lack of a bracket ladder.
Classic Era and MoP Classic professions level through a chain of recipes, each replaced as it goes gray, because their trivial windows are narrow. Midnight recipes are not built that way. A number of Midnight recipes across the professions we have data for carry very wide trivial windows, and Jewelcrafting's leveling recipe is one of them, with a trivial-high sitting at 100. That means there is no recipe-switching to plan around here. You craft one item, in one place, for the whole climb. If you see a published route elsewhere that lists several Jewelcrafting recipes in sequence, treat this single-recipe route as the one computed directly from the current client data.
FAQ
How many crafts does 1-100 Midnight Jewelcrafting take? 135 on average with this route. The buy column adds a 20 percent buffer for the yellow window between skill 85 and 100, where skill-ups are a chance rather than a guarantee.
Why does this route use only one recipe out of 77 in the tier? Because that recipe's guaranteed range already extends to skill 85, and its yellow window carries it to 100. No other recipe in the tier reaches further with fewer expected crafts, so the leveling math never needs a second one.
Do I need Knowledge Points or a specialization plan to follow this route? Not to hit skill 100. Knowledge Points and specializations affect recipe quality and unlocks beyond the leveling range this guide covers. Check your in-game profession page for those choices; this guide does not carry that data.
Why did I need more materials than the table said? Once skill passes 85, points are a chance, not a guarantee, and the chance shrinks as skill approaches 100. The Expected column is the average outcome; the Buy column covers a normal unlucky run. A very unlucky run can still exceed it.
Does this route change if I already have some Jewelcrafting skill? No re-planning needed. Start crafting Brilliant Phoenix Harp at your current skill and stop at 100; the same recipe covers the entire range, so partial progress just means fewer crafts left to buy for.
When this guide changes
This route is computed from the Midnight Jewelcrafting skill tier on client build 12.0.7.68887. If a future build changes this recipe's trivial-low or trivial-high, reworks its reagents, or adds a recipe that reaches skill 100 faster, this page is recomputed from the new client data and the update noted here.
