The farms, ranked

Two kinds of farm live here. Raw gold farms put coins and vendor loot in your bags. Material farms produce legacy goods that crafters of older recipes still buy.

The MOTHERLODE!! solo clears

This Battle for Azeroth dungeon is the cleanest raw gold farm left: a geared max-level character kills everything fast, and every drop goes to a vendor. It needs no profession and no auction house, which makes it a good first farm for new players.

1. Travel to your faction's entrance. Alliance and Horde use different ones.
2. Enter on normal and clear the whole dungeon. Pull large packs; nothing there threatens a Midnight character.
3. Loot every mob and every boss.
4. Vendor all gear and junk at the entrance, reset the instance, and go again.
5. Stop when you hit the hourly instance limit and switch to a raid-finder wing below.

Dragonflight raid-finder wings

The Dragonflight raid finder NPC in the Seat of the Aspects in Valdrakken teleports you straight into single raid wings. Most bosses die in about 30 seconds and drop raw gold plus gear that vendors. Bloodlust, Heroism and Time Warp cooldowns reset on each boss engage here, so use yours on every pull.

1. Take the portal to Valdrakken from the Stormwind or Orgrimmar portal room and walk to the Seat of the Aspects.
2. Talk to the raid finder NPC and queue only the good wings below.
3. Neltharion's Shadow: you land beside Magmorax. Kill the six worm adds, then the boss.
4. Edge of the Void: jump down and run past the trash. Sarkareth is already active. Drop combat first if your class can.
5. The Discarded Works: you land next to the boss, but clear the packed trash first or it will not activate.
6. Fury of the Giants: three bosses close together. Kill the trash pack on the right for a speed potion, clear the Assault of the Zaqali encounter, then take the next boss through the adjacent passage and the third up the nearby chain. The third is easy to miss.
7. Fury of the Storm: 30 to 60 seconds up the stairs to the boss. The trash is optional.
8. Skip Caverns of Infusion on slow classes (a long walk to Terros) and every other Dragonflight wing: long roleplay and no raw gold.

Skip War Within raids entirely: they are too slow to solo for gold. Shadowlands and Battle for Azeroth raid-finder skips are fast but pay little since vendor values were cut.

Legacy materials that still sell

Crafters still make old recipes for transmog, collections and housing decor, and nobody farms their materials anymore. That is the whole appeal. The catch: demand is thin, so flood a market and you sell half at a loss. Check this table before you fly anywhere.

Mote of Mana in Netherstorm

1. Fly to Netherstorm and kill the mana elementals.
2. Loot Mote of Mana. Ten combine into one Primal Mana.
3. Compare the table: sell as motes when ten motes are worth more than one Primal Mana, otherwise combine first.

Essence of Water on the Stranglethorn island

1. Search Premade Groups, Custom, for "Essence of Water" or list your own group.
2. Kill every water elemental on the island off Northern Stranglethorn.
3. Post Essence of Water in small stacks. The farm also has a chance at two battle pets and world transmog drops.

Dark Rune, Volatiles and Felcloth

• Eastern Plaguelands: in a group, kill everything in and around the buildings so the mobs spawn fast. You get Dark Rune, Essence of Undeath and some transmog.
• Twilight Highlands: kill water elementals for Volatile Water, then the fire elementals further on for Volatile Fire. Drink Potion of Treasure Finding first for small treasure chests with extra materials. These mobs now scale to your level, so group up.
• Swamp of Sorrows: the mobs there have small drop tables, so many kills drop nothing. Felcloth is the target, and patience is the price.

The Azure Span: Skyclaw mount food

Players building the Dragonflight Temperamental Skyclaw need 20 each of three foods, and they buy them on the auction house. Flash Frozen Meat is the one we can price every day.

1. Fly to the Azure Span with a group if you can: fast kills make the mobs respawn faster.
2. Farm the camp for Flash Frozen Meat until your bags hold a few stacks of 20.
3. If you have Dragonflight Tailoring, spend 50 points in its cloth-collection specialization first, so every kill also drops cloth.
4. Post in lots of 20, a few at a time. Buyers only need 20 each, so a flood crashes the price for days.

Mount drops: bonus loot, not income

Two old farms carry a jackpot on top of their normal loot. The Stormsong Valley camp that drops Goldenmane's Reins and the Vale of Eternal Blossoms Skyshard farm, where ten Skyshard shards turn into Reins of the Thundering Ruby Cloud Serpent, also drop Mote of Harmony along the way. Mounts sell per realm, so there is no single price to show, and drop luck decides your night. Farm them for the side materials and treat the mount as a bonus.

What to skip

• War Within raids: too slow to solo for the gold they drop.
• Most Shadowlands and Battle for Azeroth raid-finder skips: fast, but vendor values were cut.
• Any skip that depends on logging out mid-flight or other tricks. They get patched, and they are not worth your account.
• Any legacy material whose table row shows a falling 7-day median and a large listed quantity: someone got there first.
